It has the most accurate physics model around, 150+ fully licensed cars, tons of go-fast=20= parts to buy, and an awesome CPU AI which keeps the competition close=20 and extremely fun. I've heard so-so comments about Porsche Challenge and CART World=20 Series - so I'd be cautious about them. NASCAR 98 is a lot of fun, and = I'm=20 sure that the 99 version is even better. F1 97 is supposed to=20 be pretty good, better than the 98 version. NFS3 and TOCA are decent, = but=20 not excellent racers, IMO. As far as N64 racers go, NASCAR 99 is quite fun, especially if you like NASCAR (and racing on ovals). It's a pretty good balance of sim and = arcade, and it allows you to adjust this balance as well. F1 World Grand Prix is = also an excellent racer, but it is somewhat of a niche title since Formula 1 is = not very popular in the U.S. If you can wait a little bit, World GT (or whatever it's been renamed to) = by Boss Games should be coming out soon (for N64), and it looks like it's = going to be an awesome racer. There are also several rally games coming soon, = and while they look promising, I'm less optimistic about those than World GT. Ridge Racer Type 4 should be coming out soon for PSX, and it is being = hailed as the only racer around that could challenge Gran Turismo for the racing crown. I know I am. I was just looking at http://www.ign64.com and there is apparantly a new game coming out called Echo Delta which has to do with the deep ocean and submarines... totally inovative! I can't wait for this game even though I have only read a few words and seen one screen shot. I think it kind of reminds me of the JAWS game for the original NES (I think). The single screen shown look very nice, it almost has that ray-traced quality to it. I'm optimisitic about this title. I think Nintendo's efforts to free developers' imaginatiom by creating a sponsor company (Marigul) is beginning to pay off as we've seen with Pikachu Genki Dechu. Marigul as you may know is a Nintendo/Recruit joint venture company that helps creative people with good ideas but restricted bysoftware firms (ie: Namco, Konami, Nintendo, Square, etc. etc.) to go it alone and still find the funding neccassry to realize their creative vision. Actually, I'm glad someone decided to take the plunge into this genre; it's something I think that doesn't go explored often and gives gamers a totally new enviroment to explore -- 360 degree action at that. There's a whole new field down under the ocean; graphically, it wouldn't tax the hardware too much thanks to the depths of the sea, and gameplay wise, there's a lot of neat physics that can be applied to make the game loads of fun. Food for thought... !! IGN64 has been very vague, and I don't really understand what is going to be happening in the game. You guys seem very hyped over just the fact that there will be a game set underwater. - -----Original Message----- From: Devil929@aol.com To: n64@lists.xmission.com Date: Monday, February 08, 1999 11:48 PM Subject: Re: [N64] Echo Delta >I still have Jaws -- fun sucker that little NES game is.
