Looking more and more like a PC to me... Hmm, that is a mistake. Anyway, have you seen the new EGM? They have some great coverage of the Dreamcast. They seem to be very high on it. Especially Soul Caliber which they say is the best fighter ever. Anyway, about the modems, the Dreamcast is supposed to be able to support cable, DSL, ISDN, etc... But I don't really play that much online gaming unless it is with my roomate on our LAN (when he is not sleeping..which he does a lot). So what I want to know is this, both my roomate and I are getting the Dreamcast, so is there going to be some way of directly connecting two Dreamcasts instead of just over the internet? Also, what are Nintendo's plans for September? I mean the Dreamcast is coming out and Sony has FF8, FF Antholgy, Dino Crisis (I think that is September), and a few other games I think to help combat the DC. Does Nintendo have anything good planned? I have kind of lost track of what the N64 has coming up due my excitement over the DC and horde of great PSX games. Its been confined by Nintendo on their spaceworld list. Also, there's little chance of Earthbound getting scrapped at this stage. its too far along in development and the reason we've heard so little about it could be attributed to the time it took to localize the game for the cartridge format. The game was originally designed to take advantage of the 64DD's writability functions and be this sprawling artificial life world where things grow and change in real time. With the move to cart (instead of DiskDrive) a lot of that had to be cut back or changed into regular boolean (true/false) based Artificial intelligence. Hope that answers your question. Maybe we're all just getting better =:^) However, games like Turok 2 make themselves harder by cheating. Forcing you to trek long distances between save points is not hard, just annoying, and forces the game to be harder. That really isn't harder. Imagine Turok 2 if you could save anywhere, like Zelda, and start from that exact position. The game wouldn't be as hard if you could drop the game and pick it up three days later. When playing Turok 2, you have to plan for a good 2 to 3 hour session of gaming, which gets very boring and tedious. ~Matt <> [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Aug 1999 17:02:24 -0500 From: "Joey" Subject: Re: [N64] Online game buying?
