What a welcome surprise. You should try R-Type Delta, it plays like an older game. You'd probably get that nostalgic feeling for about 20 seconds. I have a job at a gas station (but I don't pump the gas, I merely run the till). I'm in grade 12 and getting sick of school already even though I plan to go to university thereafter. I play lots of sports like the infamous 'hockey' and gaming is also a big part of my life. In the winter here it usually gets to be -40C (also -40F). I have my own car which is a '99 integra GS... and man is it sweeeet. My favorite type of games are adventure, RPG's and platformers (maybe shooters, GE has made me a believer). Where am I going in the future? Well, possibly medicine. My marks are good enough but 'time' is a real issue; more time for study, less/none for games. I hope to go to school somewhere on the West Coast (Stanford or UC Berkeley preferably), to study Computer Science. The N64 is my real system, although I played earlier systems at friend's houses, but not extensively. I've had the N64 since April '97. I also play game on the PC, although my comp is a P166, outdated by now but kickass when I bought it. I don't have a job during the school year, but I do some freelance web design work and computer tutoring and such. My favorite game of all time is Starcraft, I use to run a clan for it, but dropped out to work on my diablo 2 clan (shameless plug: http://hod.blizzardnation.com I'm glacion). Um, what else. I have a car, well not really. We used to have a Ford Escort station wagon and a Mazda MPV, but they were both totalled in accidents (separately, not in the same one ;-). So now we have one car, a 93 Honda Accord with no power anything and no stereo. It has AC though, thank god. My mom takes the train down to the city to work, and my dad lives apart from us, so I get the car all to myself all day ;-) That's probably more info that you needed (or wanted ;-) to know, so I'll stop now. - -----Original Message----- From: D Fentie To: n64@lists.xmission.com Date: Wednesday, September 08, 1999 7:56 PM Subject: [N64] Identity >We spend so much time talking about everything, I think it is >appropriate that maybe we knew a little bit more about each other. Anyway, my name is Stryder (actually it is Aaron...but I am Stryder on this list and Thraxen on IRC and on any game I play). I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I just recently graduated from the University of Arkansas. I am 24 years old and am currently working as a corporate lab supervisor in the pestide residue gas chromatography chemistry lab (for Tyson Foods). But as of later today, I will be officially accepting a postion as a travelling microbiolgist. I will be travelling around the country performing audits on the labs in the various plants (in other words, I will be a corporate cop :) My job is pretty good, but sometimes i think I would have liked to have done something with computers...but I still can't complain with where I am now. As for my hobbies. I love to read. I read pretty much only fantasy books...I like the escape they provide from the real world. I also have an extensive collection of Beast Wars Transformers. I started collecting them about 1.5 years ago (I also collected the G1s when I was a kid, but sold or destroyed most of them when i was much younger...I really regret that). And of course, I love vidgames. I play pretty much any system (I believe in playing games, not systems). I currently have (and use) a N64, PSX, PC, and GBC. Later today I will have my Dreamcast. As for the games I like. On my PC I pretty much only play first person shooters (me and my roomates have a LAN set up), I don't really care for all those strategy games (they have some great ones, but they are not type of games and I don't like the PC style RPGs)...other than that I think most other genres blow on the PC. Oh yeah, I can't wait for team fortress 2 and Quake 3 Arena; our LAN will be working overtime (can't wait to see Q3 running on a GeForce). As for consoles. I love the Survival Horror games...I will be getting Dino Crisis, Resident Evil: Nemesis and RE: Code Veronica this fall/winter. I also love vehicular battle games. I think it really sucks 989 studios screwed the Twisted metal series up (I'll still give TM4 a try, but I have serious doubts). I will be getting V8: Second Offense for my DC though. I also like RPGs (the Japanese console style...not PC RPGs). I'm getting FF8 later today and have great hopes for games like Climax Landers on the DC and maybe Earthbound 64 the way Fentie hypes the game. I am also a huge fan platformers (2d or 3d...it does not matter to me). This is where my N64 will really be getting it's work this fall...I will be getting DCK64, JFG, and Banjo-Tooie on my N64 and rayman 2 for the DC. I saw Tonic Trouble is out on the N64 (I played the PC demo and it seemed pretty good)...but I have heard NOTHING about this game, anyone know if it supposed to be any good? Hmmm, let's see...I also like Capcom fighters. I will be getting Marvel vs Capcom for the DC. I'm pretty selective with fighters though. I like the more 'wild' ones. I don't really care for the fighters like Tekken or Virtua Fighter that try to be somewhat realistic. I like fireballs, flaming Dragon punches, teleportation, and all kind of strange powers in my fighters. I guess that is why I liked Battle Arena Toshinden so much when it first came out. I am still wavering on Soul Caliber, it has gotten fabulous reviews, and it does have weapons, but I'm not sure if it has enough of the crazy stuff I like (I have not played it in the arcades as i do not go to those anymore...I have an arcade in my room :). I also play sports games and some others...but the ones above are my main interests. I guess I have rambled on quite long enough. My name is Dan and I'm 27. I am married and have a 10-month-old son. I guess that I am probably the old man on the list. I am the pastor of a new church in Northwest Arkansas called Haven Baptist Church. It will eventually be located in Lowell, a small town between Rogers and Springdale (about 15 minutes north of Fayetteville). I graduated from high school in 1990 from Springdale High. I then went to Central Baptist College of Conway and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Bible in 1995. In May 1998, I received my Master of Arts in Religion from the BMA Seminary of Jacksonville, Texas. I remember playing the Atari with Pitfall and the other great games by Activision when I was a runt. Things have really changed over the years. Currently, I own a Nintendo 64 and a lowly 200 mhz PC. I have owned the old Atari, Sega Genesis with the Sega CD (What was I thinking?!), and now the N64. I hope to own one of the next generation systems, but I don't know which one. I like a variety of games, but if it has anything to do with Star Wars or Football, I will give it a try. I just bought Madden NFL 2000. It has to be the best football game out of the N64. Besides Madden, I own Goldeneye, WaveRace, QBC 99, Madden 64, SW: Shadows of the Empire, and SW: Rogue Squadron. I am looking to sell Madden 64 and WaveRace in the near future. Although in the PC industry that's more acceptable, a lot of companies use the release date "when it's done", whereas in the consol industry there is constant demand for a release date. - -----Original Message----- From: Davidxvx@aol.com To: n64@lists.xmission.com Date: Thursday, September 09, 1999 12:23 AM Subject: Re: [N64] Identity >In a message dated 9/8/99 11:04:51 PM Central Daylight Time, >glacion@earthlink.net writes: > ><< diablo 2 clan (shameless plug: http://hod.blizzardnation.com I'm > glacion). >> > > > Diablo 2 is out??? I grew up in Japan as a missionary kid, and was fluent in the language. But we're back in the States to stay because we needed better therapy for my little brother than Japan could offer(or at least in our area). He has cerebral palsy, but he's learning to walk!! My first gaming experience was with the NES for my eighth birthday and have bought pretty much all the Nintendo systems up to date(save ColorGB). Just like Dan, I'm planning on getting one of the Next Gen. systems, but I dunno which ones. Uhh... I've been on the list for a heck of a long time, but because I don't get to play many of the games right away, I don't post much... And, that's 'bout it!! ;) -Peter ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
