Topic: Increase Network Security with Biometrics by Andrew Halls, SAFLINK Corporation Andrew Halls of the SAFLINK Corporation will present a seminar on using biometrics to increase the security of your network. He will cover choosing the right biometric for your organization and a demonstration of SAFLINK products. Biometrics is the measurement of certain physical or biological characteristics of an individual to create a unique identifier, which can be electronically stored, retrieved, and compared for positive identification purposes. Biometrics are now being used in commercial applications, it is no longer just for law enforcement and high security environments. The seminar will discuss currently available technology, implementation strategies and how to choose the best solution for your organization. We will conclude with a demonstration of a biometric logon solution. The focus of the presentation will be on how to use biometrics to improve network security by plugging the hole that passwords leave in state of the art security infrastructures. Many users find passwords rules difficult to follow and will resort to violating company security policies by writing down their passwords or simplifying them to maintain their productivity. Biometrics can be used to reduce user dependence on passwords and making corporate information resources more secure and convenient to use.
