It was an excellent show, well worth the extra 1100 km I had to drive this weekend. The ambient room was pretty cool too. I was surprised at how few people actually appeared to be fans rather than being there for the whole event. I admit, I like A Man Called Warwick (ambient room DJ), and the thought of seeing the Japanese drummers got my interest. However, with all the extra driving involved, there is no question that THE reason I did all the juggling was to see LX and Andy. I think everybody enjoyed the show but not as many people as I had expected moved up to the front where we were when the set started. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 23:22:11 -0700 (MST) From: Reverend bluE Subject: Re: (orb) live photos of Orb On Mon, 23 Feb 1998, Rich J Bide wrote: > I don't think we ever got a definitive answer last summer when I asked > the list who the third individual was on stage with Alex and Andy. I have been going to conventions here in the US for years looking for it. I will admit the record conventions here center mostly around crap from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, but they usually have a decent selection of music from bands like Depeche Mode since they are very popular. I still never came across it though until a friend of mind pointed me in the direction of a guy in Holland that specializes in Depeche Mode collectibles. If you found it in a pawn shop for $1 you did very well. Then stop by Evil Clown on Halstead and Roscoe, About 4 blocks south of Addison. They have a good varietly of electronic stuff thats hard to find, including imports. But are very pricy. They have some interesting finds sometimes. Cheap though. Then The ultimate is probably Gramaphone... For all things with a beat. This is where all the DJ's shop. this is located on 2663 N. No, I bought it on CD last year arround Christmas time at Tower records in Toronto. I wasn't too impressed with it I would have to say, but if you want it, it is available if you look arround enough for it. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 15:24:45 -0600 From: John Goelzer Subject: RE: (orb) LX Mixmag CD Can anyone confirm that this is *not* available on CD? I heard that it was being released again w/ 2 other CDs in a 3CD set of other Mixmag dj sessions, but haven't seen it. its pretty easy to find over there, but I had never seen it in the US (like the System 7 green album). ant ( http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Studio/7328/orbknow.htm ) "orbknowledge" # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 17:39:04 -0600 (CST) From: Joseph Jun Subject: (orb) re: Ultra Rare Trax for Trade Hello all, Well, I've located an extra copy of Ultra Rare Trax, brand new, still in cellophane. I'm interested in taking trade offers, so please e-mail me privately. I have a small want list on my webpages: http://www.physics.uiuc.edu/~jjun/music/cds.html That list basically contains the things I want the most. There are still a lot of other things I'd consider (non-Orb stuff too), so please make your idea of a fair offer. Hope to hear from you. _________________________________________________________ Joseph Jun Graduate Student Deptartment of Physics, Univ. of Ill. If you want to do a little hunting then the best place to go is the used CD stores in the CLARK and Belmont area make sure you check out DR WAX and there are a few others I don't know the name though., PEACE I hope this is of help # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Feb 1998 02:44:17 -0500 From: James Drysdale Subject: (orb) Dipping into.... Well, I'm sending this message to my fave mailing lists since you might be interested in this. I've had a big response for those Orb cd-rs I'm making and I thought I'd do a whole series of artists also since I know many of you probably would like some of those cool 12" only mixes on cd, or you just don't want to wear out the vinyl. I'm eventually going to put my entire collection on cd so if you want a copy of stuff I have, let me know. The following is a listing of some stuff I was going to put on cdr for some of my fave groups. Let me know if you're interested in any of them (I'll customize them for you if you want.) Each cd-r is $15.00 (for anything you want and that includes shipping). I'm not going to do anything that's still in print since that's just not right, but I figure out of print stuff isn't too bad...If you have different suggestions for what you want, let me know. All 12" remixes are going to be cleaned with Cool Edit Pro and Sound Forge to reduce the noise from the original source. I hope to have the cds sounding better than the originals... All of the remixes come from white labels, promos, deleted or limited singles and stuff. I do have some Dj mixes, let me know if you want em. If you want to forward this to other interested mailing lists, that's okay, but I am trying to keep it low key....=o) Here's a brief listing of the bands you'll find: Check out the following page for synth artists: www.groovemusic.com/synthpop.html Artists featured: Art of Noise, Baby Ford (Rhythm King), Bananarama, Beloved, Boxcar, Brilliant, Gray Clail/Tackhead, Dead Or Alive (Fan the Flame 2, remixes), erasure, Falco, Information Society (Creatures of Influence, remixes), I Start Counting, Jesus loves You, Madonna, Men Without Hats (Interview), New order/Electronic (Until the end of time), Pet Shop boys, Pop Will Eat Itself, Real Life, Re-Flex, Propaganda, Swing Out Sister, Talk Talk, Lost Tracks and One Hit Synth Wonders...
