This post isn't 100% orb-related, but I'm assuming most of the people on the list are interested in 'lectronic music, so i'll ask here first...

I'm headed for London the 23rd of June, then Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Geneva, and finally Paris.  If anyone can provide me with concert information, especially shows by Aphex Twin / "The Rephlex / Warp Crew" and of course the Orb / System 7 and Friends, I would be eternally greatful... or at least really happy :-)  No-one ever plays all-ages gigs in Vancouver, and the local bar is obsessively strict on I.D.'ing...  Also, I'd like to get an idea of how much CDs cost over there.  Maybe the prices of common orb stuff, ie 'livion, 'us, uf', abtu, as that would give me a good basis for comparison.. Thanks muchly!

IS THE BEST!!!! thank you so much Steve (Wright)... I think I got the better deal out of our swap :) 52 minutes of "new" orb, plus great visuals... fantastic, so much better than i expected! the version of "towers of dub" is unreal!!! I got to watch it on my own late on saturday night: with E and dexies in my stomach, some great buds and a few whipping cream bulbs it truly was one of the greatest audio-visual feasts I have ever had... i'm sure it would have been even better WITHOUT the drugs, but hey ;) cheers mate, you have done me a great service... I hope the 12" brought you at least a tenth of the joy that the video brought for me.... lets do business again some time! cheers kael p.s. ever seen the cd that goes with the vid around anywhere? i suppose I can just record it, but some of those versions are brilliant! they must have been really happy with their live shows at the time... i miss Kris Weston! in my opinion, he is THE MAN (along with smiley of course!) :) ========================================================================= Kael Driscoll Document Delivery Co-ordinator email: kaeld@library.uwa.edu.au Business Library tel: +61 8 9380 1590 University of Western Australia fax: +61 8 9380 1888 Nedlands WA 6907 AUSTRALIA # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Jun 1998 22:17:15 -0700 From: Steve Shah Subject: Re: (orb) patterns and textures.... Stop Kael Im blushing , glad you liked it, the 12" as just cool thanks must be one of my fav songs (that'll have'em confused), I remember watching that at a mates house one night, one drag of the biggest reefer you have ever seen and wow, the whole thing just changes , its also quite cool if you listen to Terravm and watch the video too. As for the music I had it on CD ages ago but it went in a trade of sorts, I have it on vinyl, thanks to a very good friend of mine, listening to that at 3am is still the coolest way to spend a weekend doing the illegal, p.s just read that pot is less addictive that coffee and shopping, makes sense I suppose? However, I have purchased items from him in a set sale, both personally and through Hedonizm, a store that he is associated with somehow, and both times, I received updates on our transaction (got your money, sending your stuff) and I received the items I ordered in a timely fashion. If you asked me whether he was a bad trader, I'd have to say no, based on my personal experience. I do know that he caused a bit of flak on the IDM list by claiming he was going to auction two Aphex Twin ultra-rarities (rare to the point that there is question as to whether they exist), and then never put them up for auction, saying that someone offered him (or the person he was acting as an agent for) a ton of money and he (that person) took it, or something like that. I don't know what to say about that. He also posted a hoax on IDM saying that certain rare records (MASK 1 & 2) would be repressed in larger amounts, later admitting that it was not true, but pissing a lot of people off in the process. I actually thought it was rather humorous, even though I was suckered in by it, but I wasn't a storefront who spent money on trans-Atlantic phone calls desperately trying to contact distributors in order to get those items.
