From what I understand there are certain legal issues that would accompany having a conversion done (as the video is in English and it is copyrighted). Also, does anyone know if the video is copyguarded (as this would also affect having a conversion done). As a resident of the US, unfortunately I cannot view the video in its current format without the rather prohibitive purchase of a multistandard/converter VCR. Thus am left with having a conversion made as my only option for viewing it. If anyone has any info, your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. However, depending on what my checking reveils, I may just end up, renting a multistandard/converter VCR (I am told there are places around that have them for rental). The only other potential problem would be copyguard on the video. Of course if there is copyguard, I know of a few ways to filter out the extra data in the video signal to elliminate the copyguard (however I will probably require an oscilliscope initially to determine at what bandwidth to set the filter. A very tedious situation if there is a copy guard.). Anyone know how well those "Video Stabilizers" ,that they sell, work (and do they really remove the copyguard from the signal output). The group is made up of four members of the last incarnation of King Crimson so, this being the case, the group was assembled by Robert Fripp (FFWD). The concert was really quite good, and pretty much all Fripp did was 'Frippertronics' and midi trigger stuff. Very nice, and at the beginning of the second act he came out ond did about 5 minutes of the Frippertronics solo before being joined onstage by the drummer, who used an electronic drum set and some sequences here and there throughout. Also onstage were a bass player and a guy with something called 'touch guitar', which looked like guitar with like 10 strings on it, maybe even fretless, though I can't remember. The band were incredible players, though the bass player seemed a little insensitive to the 'concept' of it all, almost like he was just at a jam. All in all a very experimental, enjoyable show, but too short at around 75 minutes total, and expensive for the length. But if the show comes through town and you have the cash I'd definitely recommend it, if for nothing else than to see Fripp and realize just how much material must be his on FFWD. The DJ Spooky show going around now is also really good, the players are top notch, and it gets pretty fucked up at times, esspecially with the visuals by EBN. And Spooky rarely touched his tables, concentrating instead on his bass but the guy who was on tables kicked ass, fucking amazing. And they played a long time too. So try to see either one if they are still touring. (the Fripp stuff was the 'orb content', in case you're wondering) Craig # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Nov 1998 21:02:34 -0500 From: chicken Subject: (orb) i started a joke greetings all picked up lfc promo vinyl today love the cover last one at rebel rebel in nyc they also had a white label bootleg 12" with a sticker "fluffy little remix" ( or something) i only heard a little bit of it-- it had a sample of lfc, nothing special to my ears, but interesting anyway did not pick it up, no idea who it was i also picked up the bee gees tribute cd robbie williams and the orb track is very dubby is there an extended version anywhere or in the works?
