The event, being dubbed a techno-Lollapalooza, will also feature the Chemical Brothers (Live QuickTime, 500k), Orbital, and The Orb. This extravaganza of electronica aims to hit 20 major U.S. cities from July to September, playing both indoor and outdoor venues. Just last week, The Prodigy postponed a tour that was to launch next month, so it could finish work on "Fat Of The Land," its first album under its new multi-million dollar deal with Madonna's Maverick Records label. Is it the day Australia was founded? The calendar on my desk simply says that Australia Day is January 26.... To make this Orb-related...and speaking of spiders...isn't there a spider called the orb-weaver? Later! This game is worth tracking down for the audio CD included with System 7 tracks never released anywhere else. They are some great grooves. - ---------------------- Introducing Steve Hillage Having already provided music for the first _Lawnmower Man_ CD-ROM game it was a natural choice for guitarist and producer Steve Hillage and his synthesiser playing partner Miquette Giraudy to create some stunning new compositions for _Cyberwar_. The distinctive combination of surreal sounds and driving rhythms that they have developed through their ambient techno group System 7 and their col- laborations with the Orb, provides the ideal musical platform for inter- active journeys into the Cyberworld of Jobe. Steve is highly regarded for his work as a record producer and for his previous work as a musician in the 70's with his own band and in the legendary psychedelic group Gong. Together with Miquette he has also written and produced soundtracks for several feature films including the award winning French produced feature films _Urga_ and _L'Enfant Lion_. He has also for many years been well known as a personal computer enthusiast and as someone who loves to experiment with technology and new ways of thinking. He feels that the interactive element makes creating music for extraordinary cyberspace adventures like _Cyberwar_ different to film scores, where one is working with a fixed scenario. In the dreamlike world of _Cyberwar_ the music conspires to enhance a state of mind that makes playing the games all the more fulfilling. - -------------------------------- According to IMDB Hillage had nothing to do with _Urga_, but did work on the soundtrack for _L'Enfant Lion_. Does anyone know if the soundtrack for this film was released on CD? And this is what I say :) Imdb is wrong this time. In fact, I bought the Urga soundtrack last week (it was considered as one of the top 100 cosmic albums in a French magazine: Chill Out, UfOrb, Ultraworld were in this list). The Urga album is produced by Steve Hillage (the assistant producer is Miquette Giraudy). He also played acoustic guitar and co-wrote 3 tracks with Miquette & Eduard Artemiev (who did all the score). It's a great album. I didnt know about "L'enfant Lion". I'll check this out ASAP. Remember that Steve Hillage produced lots of albums from Rachid Taha (including the great "Ole, Ole" and a 2CD live album last year with rai stars Khaled/Taha/Faudel)... I have been lucky being in Paris 3 years ago for a Rachid Taha concert, including appearences by Miquette, Steve, Lx on dj, Fundamental Live... Sorry to burst any bubble you may have been in the process of forming, but this is *not* rare. Even if it is no longer in print (I believe it is back in print, or was very recently), I see it in about 1 out of 3 record stores I go into. Admittedly, I'm in Los Angeles, and am somewhat spoilt, but even on the net it is still very findable for retail or less.
