I'd say if he checks his cover and label a bit more closely, it'll say "promotional use only" in very small white letters tucked away in the bottom left hand corner. Then again I could be wrong and somehow someone has exported very small quantities of them to the US........ # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2001 03:52:25 -0500 From: Reverend djbluE Subject: Re: (orb) Once More 12" actually, promo copies are different from DJ copies. These are DJ copies. The Brown version that I have is definitely _not_ a promo copy. Of course, these discs could also be sent out as promos, but in essence, they were pressed for club dj's. And they are being imported to the US.... so much for the grand "one-world release". ||djblue||<--- wishing the brits would send more non-brown 12"s over here. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2001 11:05:22 +0000 From: john bennett Subject: (orb) orbverse james So what sort of drugs do drums take for them to be psychedelic? No really, working with the Gong band? In person? I love them! All of them! Give Daevid Allen my best... "For we the Gongband it's enough to be the instruments of love on which the Octave Doctors play..." yes indeed, he's still singin about pot head pixies, i got to do the last two tours with him round England so im tryin to mix it all down but as i say one of my multi's has packed up ..still. Daevids really cool whenever i saw him he seemed to be glowing with luminosity. Hillage isnt with them anymore but Gilli is,she is now better than ever whispering the crowd into trances of beauty every gig. i think gilli should join the ORB for a few tracks, maybe with a bit of gliss in there. laters # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2001 08:51:56 -0500 From: "Ernie Haynes" Subject: RE: (orb) 40 minute mix & betalounge set quesiton I don't know if it's the same song or not, but Sun Electric released a track called Sissy on a "Split MP3" with Ben Lee. I just uploaded a copy of the Sun Electric part to the OAA if anyone wants to check it out, or you can go to www.ben-lee.com to get the whole thing. Ben Lee's song isn't bad, really. Well; the track in question is also on the "40 minutes mix", starting at about 26:50. From what I've been able parse on the tracklisting, it appears to be S.E. Berlin - Sissy. If this is where Sun Electric is heading, I'm going to very happy. :) # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2001 09:43:35 -0500 (EST) From: james.drysdale@utoronto.ca Subject: Re: (orb) the problem is probably.. > about eight seconds solving this, too. absolutely pathetic to see such a > nice idea let down early on by shonky implementation on the part of "Shonky"...my new favourite word! sort of like 'shoddy' and 'clunky' all in one...which perfectly describes the badorb site. whoops...back to lurk mode... james "God help us. We at GUILD ran tests using Broadbase and Scient to determine how many end users we had running Flash 4 plugins. Apparently, it's far fewer than one would imagine. Our numbers indicated a mere 42.3%. Our customer base is mostly women who have their hubby's credit cards, or old folks or computer illiterate internet junkies. So mostly they didn't have flash. Now granted that won't be the case with internet freaks like me, and those who are more into music and such... But I think 92% is still high. Furthermore, as Rachel pointed out to me, the Flash detector is not functioning properly -- a big problem. (I have one you can use. And it works!!) I have a proposition to Alex: I do freelance work with three VERY gifted professionals: one is a coder like me, one is a backend programmer, and one is a graphic artist. I work with them closely everyday. WE WILL MAKE YOUR WEBSITE, Alex. Talk to us, make us an offer. We study user-friendliness and functionality everyday to improve a very well-off site. Please let us help you. You won't be unhappy. We will even code you a backend. You name it, we can do it. Please contact me if you are at all interested. brian@frickster.net Smiley, if you would pass this information on... Thanks!! - -Brian M.
