I try to help people out by trading from time to time, but it's not easy to find the time to help everybody. I'm slowly working my way through the tour recordings and have finished only 2 shows so far in the lengthy DAT>CDr transfer/mastering process. I'm trying to get as many done as possible before the 25th, when the Orb will be back here as part of AreaOne. > Has LX ever made a statement dis/approving of Orb > bootlegs? They knew I was taping their shows. Oficially, they don't allow it. LX & the gang don't care if their shows get taped, just as long as it doesn't end up being sold for profit. They asked me for a copy of the Chicago show in Denver, so I hope to have that and more for them when they're back. As for recording their soundcheck/rehersals, they were extremely mad to find out that Lokaytion recorded their setup in Chicago. LX's reasoning was "When we perform live, we play to the people. We are sharing our music with the fans that is meant to be heard and enjoyed. As for soundchecks, that's our personal time. That's NOT what the Orb is, that's us checking levels and tuning our equipment." Gavin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Best track on the whole album, IMHO. Can anyone tell me if it's quite a drastic "change" from the original Killing Joke track? i.e. How would it compare to the original version of "Requiem"? Actually, I was quite impressed with Voyage Into Paradise on the whole. All of the tracks are quite good, and well mixed in with new (I think) samples from the Good Dr's hands. I thought it was more of a return to their older styles - slightly reminiscient of the "Live 93" album, but mostly in spirit. This album reminds me of why I got into the Orb in the first place. If you haven't bought it yet, drop everything and run. Thankfully, I was able to locate it quite easily at a Canadian HMV store (*shudder* - hate the place, normally). Hmm, thanks for the heads-up, but no, considering they are touring with "Tool" (aka, "Drool" "Fool" go back to "School") at all the places near me, forget it. Plus, the departure of Bruford is annoying. Be sure and post how the show is, however. Everyone has their own tastes, I just find it hard to believe someone would describe Tool that way. BTW: The I believe I now have EVERY Teatime show up on my server. But I have a technical question. I would like to convert them to .mp3. I have tried several times but am having trouble deciding what bitrate to use?? Considering the audio in the Real file is something like 48 bps, does that that have any bearing on what I should use? 128 sounds good, but creates a pretty huge .mp3 file. Any suggestions on the optimum rate to use? I've wondered about that myself; IIRC, the audio bit rate for the Teatime shows is 44.1; the rest of the stream is video. I don't know how the conversion to mp3 would affect quality, and what bitrate would be optimal...anyone? My suggestion would be to leave them as RA files; put up a copy of Streambox Ripper, and let people make their own decisions about conversion. (Also, you aren't going to get all that much smaller by converting to mp3, even at low bitrates.) This has also decreased the size of the file SIGNIFICANTLY which is handy if you're putting these up for dnld. I've also been taking the mp3's and loading them into soundforge and then adjusting the EQ a bit which has improved quality, espcially when the bass is a bit too much. Just some suggestions... jeff > > > > *MoonDogg* wrote: > > > > BTW: The I believe I now have EVERY Teatime show up on my > server. But > > I have a technical question.
