And I was looking forward to this show...the Crest is apparently an old-school movie palace, with a capacity of under 1,000, and I have/had a hotel room just blocks away... For the last year or so I've been engaged in a collaboration with Vidna Obmana and Steve Roach, and the results are just about to be released as the first disc on a new imprint of the Hypnos label called Hypnos/Foundry. The album, "Zero Point," springboards from material recorded by the Ambient Temple of Imagination, and features guest appearances from Stephen Kent, Robert Rich, Not Breathing, and my frequent collaborator Thermal. Availability details will be forthcoming from the labels when the time is right, but suffice it to say for now that Zero Point will be available wherever fine Hypnos products are sold. Meanwhile, Thermal and I have now taken over distribution of our 1999 collaboration "A Monument of Chance," and although it is finally available at least one of the major online shops (which we are glad to see catering to independent artists), we vociferously encourage savvier types to purchase it from the specialized shops that have been supporting it from its initial release: in North America at Rioux's Records, Backroads Music, and Drum Machine Museum; in Europe at CD Services and Staalplaat; and in San Francisco at Amoeba and Aquarius ... ... where you can also find my latest solo release, "Immanent," part of the /Islands/ CD3 boxed set on The Foundry. Finally, at risk of public ridicule, I'd like to give airtime to some jackass experimental stuff that I have been doing with a local group called Content Provider. We just released a double-vinyl compilation of various live-in-the-studio jams perpetrated over the last year, which includes contributions from Not Breathing, SubArachnoid Space, and Jack Dangers. The record is titled "We Will Be With You Shortly," and can be purchased for $12 + shipping by emailing or by visiting the Content Provider webpage where you can listen to mp3 excerpts. Those of you in the Bay Area can also purchase it over the counter at Amoeba Music in San Francisco or Berkeley. And those of you interested our further and as yet undocumented adventures are invited to visit the /contentprovider directory at mp3.com or stationmp3.com Of these, I guess I'd cite "A Monument of Chance" as the most old-school-Orb-like ... you can check outtakes at OK, that's all ... thanks for reading this far! =) - -=Seofon Ambient Temple of Imagination http://www.a-toi.com/ # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Aug 2001 23:33:24 -0700 From: organism@hydrophilus.com Subject: (orb) Semi-Cousin Once Removed To Being On Topic... So, here goes.... Some time ago I attempted to ping the yello list for this item, and I got no response. I am looking for "Hands on Yello - The Updates" [2xCD / 1995]. This is semi-on-topic in that the complilation also includes Our Fair Orblos simply /nasty/ remix of YGSYTAE [billed simply as "Excess"], of which I can simply not get enough [the version that was included on the 1CD version is short - but I got Auntie Aubrey, and the second disk has the sex on it - I be sure it be the same version that is on the 2CD updates. Yes? Anyone know fo' sho'?]. If *anyone* has this 2CD set, and would be willing to part with it, I am willing to, in return, part with something precious as well. Cash, mostly. Cold and green. Being that this 2CD set is /most certainly and decidedly/ OOP, and that it was obscenely limited in the first place, I am resigned to the fact that I may in fact need to beg and settle for a CDR-version from someone. I am prepared to reward you for your efforts. Just picture me groveling. I know these are money making vehicles- but at least they could have been a bit more subtle.... Unfortunately by the time we got there and waiting through the 1/2 security lineup to get in, I'd missed Rinocerose. But the Roots were amazing- Rahzael and the beatboxing was crazy. Next up were New Order who were supposed to go on at 5:05, meaning I could watch them for aiut half an hour before the Orb at 5:45. Of couse, in reality, New Order didn't go on unitl 5:25 so I only saw them for three songs. The guitarist was completely loaded, so that was entertaining all in itself. I then made my way to the tent, just in time to hear a big cheer and the rooster from LFC. I plowed my way to the front and settled in for the show. Of couse- The Orb were FANTASTIC!!!! I was standing about 3-4 rows back, dead centre, and I almost danced out of my clothes. I was soooooo happy to finally see LX & co after 6 years. I am bad with song names but I did hear LFC, Turn It Down, Perpetual Dawn, Blue Room - maybe Assasin and maybe A Mile Long Lump of Lard (I was still a bit baked from the Roots set so this is another reason why I'm not quite sure). I noticed a few other obvious Orb fans around me and planned to say hi- but after the show (only an hour!) the candy raver next to me said "I can't believe all these people are leaving- Oakenfold's next!". I knew I had to go. I wanted to find LX to give him a flyer from the imposter show- but he had vanished. Outkast were not so great (but I don't like that "motherfucker" hip-hop too much), Oakenfold (as I heard from outside the overflowing tent) played nothing good, and Moby stood there with fog and light while posed like Jesus Christ for about 5 minutes. He is insane. (try www.google.com) Set Notepad.exe as the default player for Real Audio. Use it to capture the RA file (in a round about way, I know.) by letting it download the source of the stream as plain text. Rename the file to .RA extension use StreamBox Ripper to convert RA to MP3 If anyone knows an easier way, please let me know. - -Eric M # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 04 Aug 2001 20:24:47 EDT From: Ovation15@aol.com Subject: (orb) bob's is there anyone in the US who still has not gotten any of their bob records?? ive yet to revive mine . . . I think a lot of it depends on how fast your post office works. If I'm not mistaken, when products get imported into the united states, international mail delivers it to your local post office first, then your local PO sends packages to a customs port of entry to determine duty and whatnot, and then it gets sent back to your local post office. Which is a really half ass way to do it if you ask me, but i guess.... So i can imagine, smaller towns like the one I live in, take a long ass time. waiting for the bob .buse >is there anyone in the US who still has not gotten any of their bob >records?? ive yet to revive mine . . . - ------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.filter24.org music + technology # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2001 18:50:32 -0700 From: "gliddenm@nettaxi.com" Subject: RE: Re: (orb) bob's don't have mine yet either in boston...you'd think being the eastern decent city around these parts we'd be one of the first to get 'em..maybe they sent 'em around asia or something...i've gotten stuff from amazon.co.uk in like 4-5 days though, so hopefully they arrive quickly... matt. - ------------------------------------------------------------ Shop Smart Compare Prices on Name-Brand Products from Name-Brand Stores!! http://www.smartshop.com/cgi-bin/main.cgi?ssa=4099 # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Aug 2001 00:13:38 -0400 From: "hardacid" Subject: RE: (orb) bob's I am in nyc and haven't gotten them yet regis # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Aug 2001 00:28:42 -0400 From: "Lance @ Inaudible" Subject: Re: (orb) Satellite Seranade >Does anyone know if there's an "original" (as opposed to not remixed) version >of this floating around anywhere?
