Participants will learn how students develop competencies, skills, and personal qualities through the class meeting process and other Positive Discipline methods. Positive Discipline is based on the three Criteria for Discipline that Empowers: 1. Discipline must be respectful, 2. it must be effective long-term, and 3. it must provide opportunities for the development of social and life skills.[PARA]FOR SCHOOL PERSONNEL WHO:[NL]• Understand that the development of life-skills is as important as academics to help students be successful in work, in the community, and in relationships.[NL]• Want a program that significantly reduces discipline problems by teaching self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.[NL]• Know that non-punitive methods work best for long-range positive results with students-and who want a large toolbox of non-punitive methods.[NL]• Want classrooms where students practice mutual respect.[PARA]COST:[NL]Two-day workshop fee: $250[NL]Early Bird fee: $225 (paid 30 days in advance)[NL]Each participant receives the products shown below (a $97 value). [PARA] [PARA]WORKSHOP CONTENT:[NL]• How to implement the three criteria for discipline that empowers[NL]• How to provide the three basic needs of students to avoid violence and promote success[NL]• Understanding the motivation for misbehavior and how to encourage change[NL]• The Eight Building Blocks for Effective Class Meetings[NL]• Experiential activities that go beyond intellectual learning to reach the heart for real change[PARA]WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:[NL]All teachers-from those just beginning to those with many years of experience-will find the tools of Positive Discipline easy to use.
