A man called Jacob finds himself in dire trouble. His business has gone bust and he's in serious financial trouble. He's so desperate that he decides to ask God for help. He goes into the synagogue and begins to pray... "God, please help me. I've lost my business and if I don't get some money, I'm going to lose my house as well. Please let me win the lotto." Lotto night comes and somebody else wins. Jacob goes back to the synagogue..."God please let me win the lotto. I've lost my business, my house and I'm going to lose my car as well." Lotto night comes and Jacob still has no luck! Back to the synagogue..."My God, why have you forsaken me? I've lost my business, my house, my car and my wife and children are starving. I don't often ask for your help and I have always been a good servant to you. Why won't you just let me win the lotto this one time so I can get my life back in order?" Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light as the heavens open and Jacob is confronted by the voice of God himselfwho admonishes him: "Jacob, meet me half way on this one, buy a ticket!" ________________________________________________________ "Mommy, mommy, why daddy got so few hairs on his head?" "He thinks a lot." "And why you got so many?" "Go eat your breakfast." **** A little kid asks an expecting woman: "What is in your tummy? " "My baby!" "Do you love him!" "You betcha!" "Why have you eaten him then?" **** Father says to his son. "You are mature enough now. I allow you to start smoking if you want to." "Thanx dad, I've quit two years ago." **** Johnny and his little sis are reading the book "Life of Animals". Suddenly they jump from the coach and run to their grandmother. "Grandma, grandma, can you have children?" "Oh my dear, of cause not, certainly not." Johnny turns to his little sis ans says triumphantly "I told you she is a male!!!" **** Johnny returns from school and says he got an F in arithmetics. "Why?" asks the father. "The teacher asked 'How much is 2x3?' I said '6'" "But that's right!" "Then she asked me 'How much is 3x2?'" "What's the hell's the difference?" (I've heard this a couple of places.) This is in fact physically impossible. We try to be quick, but it was mailed to everyone on 1/25 (last Saturday.) No one can convince me that the post office could have deliveried them on the same day I mailed them . That is asking too much . . . even for first class mail! Our goal is MAIL the issue right around the 25th of the month - usually on the Saturday closest to the 25th. That means that it normally arrives around the last week of the month. Many people HAVE been receiving their issue this week, but if you have not received it yet, don't panic. The post office has only had six days to play with them. They have been known to take as long as two weeks to deliver first class mail (not usually, but it does happen.) They are coming . . . honest! Johnson" Date: Sat, 1 Feb 97 05:08:59 UT Subject: RE: tan- photo quilt - another supply source I have also tried this process (a MUCH less ambitious project, however...Thanks, Sandra, for describing your quilt - sounds beautiful!!) and found the materials needed through the Dharma Trading Co. (Fiber Arts Supplies) catalog. The Fall/Winter '96-'97 catalog lists Magic Transfer Paper as follows: Page 44 8.5"x11" - $1.39 ea., 10 or more - $1.25 ea. 11"x17" - $2.75 ea., 10 or more - $2.50 ea. (They also have Ami Simms' book in their book section - $11.66) Shipping is what it costs to ship and insure. I think the catalog was free. The number is 1-800-542-5227 I got good results with this process, much more successful than the stuff you brush on and then rub off with a sponge - (Aleene's?) - but there was some trial and error. (You need to apply as much pressure as you can with your iron - - the process was developed for heat presses, I think) Deborah J. Previous Post: edited - >...process is best described by a WONDERFUL quilter named Ami Simms, in her book "Creating Scrapbook Quilts." Essentially, anything that can becolor photo-copied can be copied to this stuff called photo-transferpaper, which in turn can be ironed to white fabric, then used to create quilt squares. (or ironed to t-shirts or anything else!) Ami has a web page that shows this process- and you can order the book or transfer paper from her with a 1-800 number. The transfer paper is about $20.00 for 6 9x11 pages- plus you have to pay for the color copying- but for a one-of-a-kind special occasion (like a 50th wedding anniversary or whatever-) it makes a spectacular gift!!! look it up at: http://quilt.com/amisimms and a photo spread of the process with brief diretions are on the Home and Family TV show web site, at: http://homeandfamily.com/...ry_quilt_photos.html...< ------------------------------ From: rubberchickenlady@juno.com (Betsy McLoughlin) Date: Sat, 01 Feb 1997 00:25:01 EST Subject: TAN: OH NO Oh my word - don't know how it happened - but all of my messages in my inbox are gone! If you guys didn't get in you missed something. I bought a stamp just for this swap. Jimi -- Was a little cloth bag that she has a little girl holding a heart and colored in. Then A heart border above her and below, and then on the back with a saying in the middle "Happy Valentine's Day from Jimi". This was neat. I will say what she wrote on her description. "Fabric is ironed onto freezer paper. Then it is run through the printer. I added lace, sewed fabric into bags. Then it was colored with colored pencils. This was a new technique for me. Jimi, you definitely tie bows better than I do. Can I hire you out to tie them for me in the future. Suzie -- The is stamped with a fourth of July bear. With hearts in the four corners with the flag colors. All on a dark blue card. Really nice. Jodie -- Did you do the dog w/bones stationary. Really, really, neat. Absoluetely adorable. Also came with an envelope with the same bone on it. Mandy -- "The latest Moo's" was stamped on the front. Then there was a fence and sun stamped on the card. Then stamped and added to card was a cow, bird, clouds and sheep. All embossed. This card was really cute. Jodie -- A Thank You note stamped using maybe a flower border. Nice. Lori -- On the card stamped with clouds and hearts and the saying "Wishing you a day bright with sunshine ... warm with love." Then some corrugated paper, kind of gives it a fence look. Then a dog has been glued/taped on to that a turtle. Never seen a DJ inker stamp until this swap. Have to say that there are some really nice stamps. I know life has been busy and crazy and I appreciate the time you took. Melissa -- Did a a bear holding a sunflower. Embossed in gold and then colored in with chalk. Really made this look cool. L. Clemmons -- The card has 3 palm trees on some hills. Really like that tree. Did you draw free hand the hills -- if so nicely done. There was an envelpe with the same tree stamped. Dawn -- HAH! The girl she used is from DOTS. As it just so happens, my SSS for January stamped me a card with this very same stamp. I wonder. Really like how this card came out. Pinki -- Did a layer card with grapes colored and fixed in the middle of the card. I have that same grape stamp and hope that I do as well as she did on the coloring. Karen -- Did a dry embossed frame and then embossed yellow? powder around that edge. Then in the middle is stamped a little boy playing in the water making a sand castle. Colored very nicely. Inside the card it says Life is A beach. Sharon -- Stamped a whole of misc little items in different color, and then a guy standing in a wagon with just a little bit of chalk used. This is put on a piece of mulberry paper. Go to a beauty supply store. Those products will be the cloest to salon products (which are the highest grade). To cover grey, choose a 10% peroxide not higher. Higher will damage your hair more and 10% is enough to cover. When I could no longer afford her $40 a month fee, I followed that advice and ended up with Wella 8%.
