I've been toying with this for awhile (since I can't get more of my FAV Alice in Rubberland rainbow pads right now), and came up with some that have been useful for me. One of the things I love doing most is brayering a nice background on Wausau Papers Exact Coated Gloss paper and stamping on it with darker colors (usually black or Prussian blue Marvy Matchable). Anyway, I've been using the uninked Kaleidacolor pads, which I got from Sheryl Porter and have used any number of dye-based reinkers. Most are Printworks reinkers, which I also got from Sheryl, Vivids/Impress from Stampo and a number of local retail stores, and Adirondack reinkers (also from Stampo). Unfortunately, since I don't see Adirondack reinkers (or pads) on Stampo's lively website (OOOO....those MOVING parts ).....I need to search out another source of Adirondack reinkers (suggestions?????). Here are the color progressions I've tried out so far: PAD 1: Printworks purple, Printworks huckleberry, Tsukineko wisteria, Printworks violet and Printworks eggplant. I really like this one! PAD 2: Printworks olive, Printworks goldenrod, Adirondack terra cotta, Adirondack rust, Adirondack espresso. I really like this one! PAD 3: Vivid straw, Vivid butterscotch, Vivid brick, Adirondack rust, Printworks box brown. I want to try this with Adirondack caramel replacing the butterscotch, since it looks a bit to 'peachy' to 'work'. I also thought I might eliminate the straw (yellow) tone and add a darker brown at the brown end. PAD 4: Vivid sky blue, Printworks wedgewood blue, Printworks blue, Printworks aqua, Printworks sky blue (I need a lighter mid blue to replace the blue....although this works somewhat it's not 'perfect')....I was trying to recreate the Alice in Rubberland Icicle I did two others that didn't really work well. Experimenting helps...now I know I really can't put light blue next to orange although I was trying to emulate the Alice in Rubberland Twilight pad which puts some fuschia/purple shades between the orange and blue....for a "REASON" ) I wrote the colors/brand on the top of the pad case with a permanent Sharpie and snipped a bit of brayered Wausau Exact Coated Gloss Text and taped it to the lower half for reference (covering up the UNINKED words). This way I remember how the colors look 'in action'. Anyone else have some color progressions to share? Now I want to try some non-slide-apart uninked pads! (Yep...there's still some room in the refrig for MORE rainbow pads ). Thanks first to our wonderful hostess Bonnie Lass. She included a = generous bag of Valentine charms inside her card. These charms are = perfect. She also sent me a couple little seashell charms for which I'm = most thankful. Bonnie's card is a pale pink cs with deckled edges. Over = this she has layered burgundy cs with deckled edges. Next is a white paper = lace ribbon with a burgundy fabric bow and a sponged heart with a tiny = heart charm at the bottom. On the heart is a love postoid that has gold = glitter colored in with pink. She has stamped and embossed "For you with = love" on the bottom. Pretty, pretty, pretty. Lynn Legge - Pale green cs. Over this a gorgeous shade of salmon cs with = deckled edges and then a layer of sage green wallpaper with a tiny floral = pattern of peaches and corals. A fabric heart is then layered over the = wallpaper with center cut out and filled with a potpourri of lavender. = Tiny glittery beedz are around the edges of the potpourri. Great idea and = this card smells yummy. Inside the card is "With loving thoughts" and = trimmed with a pretty peach bow and a heart charm. Presented in a clear = envy which adds a very nice touch. Jennifer Hanes - Pink cs with rounded corners. A red heart stream and = gold paper lace adorn the background. Over this she has layered burgundy = linen cs with rounded corners and then layered the PSX love stamp with a = pretty decorative border. Jennifer has colored in the love stamp = beautifully and has topped it all off with a red iridescent sticker heart. Brenda Volpe - Pink cs. Collage of white paper lace heart doily, Acey = Deucy image embossed in gold, cherub and butterfly embossed in what almost = appears to be platinum (love this color). Everything is topped off with = gold and silver fabric bows. Great card. Sandy (Stampaholic) - Large red heart doily layered over pink cs and a = Victorian lady from Rubbernecker with the words "May every day be a = celebration of the heart!" She has colored the lady in with watercolor = crayons and airbrushed the background with blue spray FX; very nice touch. = Sandy obviously loves to color, and it shows. Very nice, old fashioned = card. Deb Nielsen - Incredible collage. Eggplant cs with Magenta filligree = background stamp embossed in gold. "With Love" (Art Gone Wild) embossed = in Gold Colorbox and then embossed with gold detailed EP. Next is a layer = of maruve cs which has been stamped all over with a chantilly lace pattern = from Stampin' Up! using Mulberry dye ink. Deb has used lace corner punch. = Cherubs (Stamping with Style) are stamped with Mulberry ink on mauve = mulberry paper, edges torn and layered over card along with a gold heart = paper doily. Deb has also added a piece of gold corrugated foil and gold = organza ribbon and topped it all off with the Victorian "Love" stamp from = Penny Black on eggplant cs embossed in gold. Exquisite. Sorry I'm not doing justice to these cards, but take my word for it, = they're perfect for Valentine's Day and I'm glad they're mine...all mine. Puts a newbie like me in awe. Had a great time getting to know Nancy and Maralee from the "Orlando area" today. Maralee brought samples of her work in a book she had made - she's been stamping since '91 so you know she knows what's up. Not to be outdone - Nancy brought us each a homemade (of course, duhh) card and a box she made & stamped filled with CHOCOLATE. (It's gone Nancy) Looks like we'll be getting together to share more tips, technigues and gossip - many ears should be been ringing today. We love the "list" but slammed a local rs store. Had a great time and am so glad to get to meet them "face to face". This package was stuffed with wonderful stamping goodies and many extras. First, I found a card she had made. On light grey cardstock, she layered pink cardstock then burgandy mulberry paper. On the mulberry paper was a rose stain glass image that she had colored in and I think covered with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. It is a very pretty card. Now to all the goodies...I received 4 Studio 2 markers, a Dove Blender ( I have been wanting one of these), a bottle of L'Effleur bath and shower gel, a bottle of Morning Mist bath and shower gel, a package of Heart stickers, a package of Heart confetti, a package of Note Cards and envelopes, several gold paper heart doilies, a box of Valentine Chocolate candy, a box of conversational heart candy, 2 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, a bottle topper, a package of sewing theme charms, some gold paper, a light house button, and a bottle of Fire & Ice cologne ( I am going to smell real good). I am not done yet....Now for the rubber stamps I got. I got a Sonlight Impression lighthouse stamps "Let Your Light Shine" written next to the light house, a Penny Black cup pin cushion stamp, a Penny Black Cross Stitch stamp, a Stamp Francisco antique sewing machine stamp. Three unmounted stamps...a sewing machine and 2 phrase stamps. One says:"This is just one of those passing phases" the other says "Usually, I don't venture this far away from the TV" Also, in my package was a cute Valentine clown. It is already sitting by my computer. Thank You, Kim, for a wonderful package. Have a Happy Valentine's Day!! These are all reallllly great cards! Thanks to Lisa Wynn for hosting! Cindy Fitzgerald (Cindyf@pyramid.net) ~ Very striking card! Cindy brayered pinks, purples and blues and then did a kind of "negative" stamped image of a feather. Then she stamped that feather in purple and embossed it, and added glitter. Very pretty! April Tripp ~ A cute card with a sponged (?) green background. Then vellum, cut with deckle scissors, on top of that. Then April embossed only the corners of the vellum in green. On top of the vellum is a piece of cardstock with a green botanical heart embossed on it. I like the monochromatic effect of this card! Nice! Karen Mellinger (NewLife4JC) ~ She used a landscape stamp of a bunch of trees, grass and birds in black. Then she sponged some yellow and orange and blue to add to the landscape. Then that is placed on orange cardstock. I am not describing this card very well. It is a simple, clean look, but oh-so-pretty! Michelle Yack (michelle@stampinscrappin.com) ~ Very funny and cute card! Hee hee! Michelle stamped a lady having a bad hair day. She is sitting with her brush and hairspray looking up at her hair, which is basically standing straight up! =) Suzanne McCarthy (TCnative@aol.com) ~ Suzanne stamped a tree over and over in green to make a border. Then just on the card's edge she applied gold ep. Then she has layered a piece of green cs with gold edges. Then, on the very top a piece of white cs with the gold edges and the tree stamped again in green and dusted with gold. Beautiful card!! (which I am not doing justice to! Sorry, Suzanne!) Also, Suzanne is the only person who included stamp credits. Ladies, thanks so much! These are probably going on the "RS Hall of Fame" (file cabinet) in my office. =) They are all wonderful!!!!
