A friend told me she sent me something...I thought this was it. Now, I don't think so... I couldn't believe this, when I opened it up!! The Anonymous RAKer has gotten me, BIG TIME!!! I got this Box, I was SO excited....especially since a friend mentioned sending me something recently. Well, wasn't I surprised, to find a Letter, from the Anonymous RAKer on top!!! I read the letter, and was amazed that someone in our world today can be SO generous. I mean, I have always thought of myself as a helpful, generous person, to people around me, folks I know. But, this is SO different....to want to stay Anonymous. Lord Bless her (or him). S/He sent me the GREATEST package, ever!!! Inside, under the letter, was a stck of paper, 6X9, and was I ever thrilled...It contained Backgrounds paper, Duplex, marbled, glossy, & VELLUM. Must be 25 or 30 sheets there!! Then, I found some stickers....this is new to me. I get to try stickers on cards now. Confetti? OMG!!! 5 little bagsfull!!! A variety Christmas Pack, Large, gold Rubber Stamps, multi-colored hearts, some sequins, mixed with a lot of holidays stuff. But, I think the one that jumped out at me is the baggie FULL of Peppers!!! Why, if I had known THIS was coming, I could have joined the Red Hot Chili Pepper SWAP!! Under all this confetti, I found TONS of CANDIES!!! Ooooh, s/he REALLY knows how to spoil me, huh? M&Ms, Skittles, Valentine Sweethearts. But, the BEST PART of the entire box was what was on the bottom:The BIG FISKARS CRIMPER!!!!! Can you believe this???? This person must have been reading my mind.....cuz I don't think I remembered to put this on my WishList. And, I have been drooling over it, every time I go to Michael's!!! I just couldn't afford it. (By the way, I see WalMart is carrying it now, in their new Scrapbooking aisle....for $13.00, not $17.00 like Michael's!!) You cannot believe the excitement I am feeling right now. I will be smiling, for days!!!! Something of which I have done FAR too LITTLE, lately. Thank You, Anonymous RAKer. You are my Santa Claus, EasterBunny, and ToothFairy all wrapped up in one!!!! I don't have alot of room to work with, and since it's a rental, I can't really put up pegboard or permanent shelving. For now, I have all my pens and scissors in decorated baskets and cans that I'd covered with tissue paper, etc. But especially when it comes to the scissors, I've found that this just doesn't work well - I have too many! And ep - I've got all my most used ones in the containers that I got from Phil, but I'm running out of room on my desk for these. And then I have all the littler containers with ones I don't use as much, but definitely want to keep. Any ideas? I have one great thing I did find, just yesterday. I was in our local Cost-Savers (Kodiak's Costco wannabe) and they had these rolling file carts. They are made of wrought iron, have room for lots of folders, plus 3 very sturdy wire baskets underneath - this has really been a great find, since I can store alot of paperwork in it, roll it out of the way, but yet when I need it, can just roll it to my desk. No heavy tote to drag across the floor. I paid $25 for it, but I'm sure you all could find it alot cheaper down in the lower 48. Also, I got the neatest little container from Sue Williams this week in a surprise Valentine's package - it's called 'Stack-ups', made by a company called Westex - it's a stackable organizer that has screw-together jars - I put confetti in it - looks so neat sitting on my shelf - all the different colors and shapes - definitely need to find where I can get more of these!! BTW, I already have one of those rolling mini chests, and it's already full - with envelopes, paper, etc. - and no room for another one. So, anyone have any brainstorm ideas? So now I take edge of tiny pads and randomly stamp all over--this looks esp. great on black paper with silver ep. Crushed up tin foil is wonderful, but really great is bubble pack--cut piece @ size of pad and just lay it on there, then on paper--lots of funky little circles!! Make background stamps using double stick tape--cut large square or whatever out of 1/8 inch plastic place mats (WalMart has them) and put tape on then peel off for other sticky side and just start snipping away at little strips or pieces of fun foam or rubber trimmings and let it fall wherever on tape--can always take off or add more. I also use tiny paper punches to add circles, hearts--or could use bigger ones. This is so simple. Use fun foam & cut out a shape, then cut it into strips with plain or fancy scissors and position it on double sided tape. I've got hearts, shamrocks, circles, squares, etc. done this way. Did a huge carrot only stripes squiggly across. Cut long strips to make stripes, then can make your own plaid backgrounds. This is SO EASY! Print with gillette disposable razor--razor part looks good, inside of handle is striped, and outside of one I have prints flowers strips!! I don't mind the advertising from vendors, but being from Canada I would appreciate some information in the posts on shipping costs to Canada. There are a lot fewer Canadians on this list than Americans but the information would still be great. I have a limited number of stamp stores near me (some an hour or more away) who only buy from certain stamp companies (and only one store I know of that has some nice papers and other stamping accessories). I also have to agree with a previous post (sorry, I can't credit the author as I forgot who it was). I think that when people are posting to the group to thank vendors for orders received, they should be saying which company they had ordered from, maybe list an email or web address for them if they can so the rest of us who have never done it before know who we may be able to trust. If you aren't willing to spend the extra time to let the rest of us know who gave you good business, don't bother posting the message here....send it directly to the vendor. My personal take on this topic (and the "TAN" topic) is that I have the coolest feature on my keyboard and AOL ... they call it a delete (pronounced dee-leet) button. Occassionally I hit it when I don't want to, but then I just shrug my shoulders and say "oh well". But most of the time the operation is fairly simple. I simply highlight the piece of mail I don't want to read ... then hit the button ... and POOF ! Its gone ! Sorry to be so sarcastic about it ... but its like the people who want to sensor music and books they find offensive: if you don't like it -- don't read it or listen to it ! :-) If I don't want to read ... I won't ... if I do ... yeah for me. Oh yea ... and wasn't the "RS" list supposed to be un-moderated ? I believe Rubbertown has limited COMMs/ADs and NO TANS. And SARA has only RS topics - no TANS or ADs. I have to say that since this was mentioned to me this morning, I have seen quite a few of these today. These are the posts that need to be slowed down or stopped. Especially when many of them have the complete original message included in the response. These posts are definately much more irritating than the COMM/AD posts to the list made by vendors, after all, this is a rubberstampers list !! I am aware that it is unmoderated and that I don't want to change that. It's what makes this list so much fun, but a little discretion before letting all of us know that you are "ROFLYBO" would sure be appreciated, especially since many of the rest of us are doing the same thing, we just don't feel the need to let the rest of the world know it when it happens. Personnaly, I make it a habit NOT to post such responses to the list. If I agree, disagree or simply want to voice my opinion or even "LOL" about one persons post, I respond to that person privately. After all, personal communication is the best way to start a new friendship, that's a big part of what this list is all about !! Just got a great frog Valentine from my big sister. She wrote me a note asking for ideas. She's looking for neat Valentine message stamps. She'd like a cute saying or a prettily designed one. Just traditional Valentine messages...nothing far out. Please give stamp credits. If you got a great Valentine you'd like to pass on or an extra one left with a neat message, I'd appreciate your sending it to her. He address is Barb Sawitoski RR2 N2075 Road Princeton, Illinois 61356-9694 After I get through showing them off at the fledgling Kingman stamp club next week, I'm gonna send her the Victorian Valentine swap and Robin's Valentine swap cards.
