YAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!! Happy Dance, happy dance, happy dance. I got my Newbie Swap package from Germaine, so happy, yippppppeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! It was worth the wait. Oh boy, where to start, where to start, oh boy. Let's see, first the beautiful cards. These are from newbies????? Don't you believe it, these are from accomplished artists. The first one is a post card from Stampenpal (Carolyn). On manila cs she made a lovely living room scene, there's a couch with lots of fluffy pillows and an afghan, this is sitting on a pretty green and yellow throw rug. Next to the couch on one end is a reading lamp, and on the other end is a potted fern. She stamped "Have a wonderful day!" This looks so inviting, where's my book? I'm ready to go get all comfy with my books, a cup of tea, my puppies, and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Great composition Carolyn. Next is a beautiful card and matching envie from Terri & Toni Tosh. On white cs, they stamped a lovely hummingbird alighting at a flower arrangement for a drink of necter. This is very softly colored with pinks and greens, really lovely. Then they added some glitter highlights on the wings and along the flowering vines. The four corners are stamped with a leaf stamp and colored in a darker green and highlighted with glitter on each of the leaves. The envie has the same leaf design on one corner of the front. Very elegant looking card. Love it. The last card is from Nancy Green. On beigh speckled cs, Nancy layered navy blue corrugated paper. On top of that she stamepd a scene of a beach with little sand birds looking for sand crabs and the waves rolling in behind them. There's a sail boat in the distance too. On white corrugated cs she stamped "Life's a Beach" Inside she layered the same navy corrugated cs and on white cs she stamped the following saying "For contemplation deep and serene, For hidden thoughts and signts unseen, The reality remains, totally clear, I'm i sunny Florida and wish you were here!" Me too Nancy. This reminds me so much of sunny California. I used to live in Santa Barbara right near the beach and this made me a little bit homesick. Thanks for the reminder of how lovely the ocean is. Now, last but not least, this package was full of goodies, just as Germaine promised. From Wacky Wagon's Ladybug there's a list of items she has for sale. Haven't had a minute to review this yet, but you bet I will. She attached a clear envie containing a beautiful pink tassel and an unmounted stamp. Wow, thanks Sue. There's a sample of HALOS and a really cute heart (of course, I just love hearts), stamp and both are already fixed up with hook & loop, ready to use. And a great description of HALOS and how to use them. These are from Sheryl Porter at Hooked & Looped on Stamps. Wow, thanks. I didn't have any idea what everyone was talking about with this stuff. Now I know. Then there's a sample package of corrugated paper and raffia from Paper Arts Studio. Great color combination, white, gold, navy blue, and hunter green. Can't wait to put this stuff on some of my cards. Thanks a bunch. Here's a package of unmounteds from Inky Antics. There's a playful seal, a ball for him to play with, a small fish for him to eat, and some words. I can't read backwards yet so not sure what they say. This will make a really cute card. Thanks Inky Antics. From Debbie at Rubber Stamp Rampage Stamps 2 unmounteds, a background stamp and a small fleur 'd le (sp?) and instructions on how to mount rubber die onto wood mounts. Great accent stamps Debbie. Thank you so much. And from Karen Harris some beautiful marbled cardstock. This is georgeous. Will make fantastic cards. And a list of what she has for sale--great prices Karen. Thanks for participating in this newbie swap. And last, but certainly not least, from Germaine's Gallery there are some doorknob hangers, some magnets, some plastic bags, and some envies. Super indication of what she has for sale in her Gallery. Thanks Germaine, these will definitely be put to good use. Oh, this was so much fun and really worth the wait. Thank you so much Germaine for hosting this swap. You did a fantastic job. I hope you do this again for other newbies. I would encourage all of them to join. It's worth it. (Got your hot cocoa ready?) I really don't know where to begin. My life has been very full, and never a dull moment!! I was born in California, moved to Washington state as a baby. Adbandoned by mother, and father took my older brother, me, and baby sis to Montana, to a foster home. They didn't want us after a month, so Grandma took us by bus to California again, where an aunt took us. However, baby sis was left in Montana. Aunt lost custody of us and we were put in foster homes. I was placed at age 2, adopted by them at age 12 1/2. Have always loved crafts and sewing. Found "baby" sister 27 1/2 yrs after we left Montana. We are almost identical!! In looks, likes, dislikes, tastes in men, crafts, everything!! We have experienced nearly all the same stuff, too. WEIRD! She asked a psychiatrist about it, and he told her when we were seperated, it was like seperating twins. We are only 12 mos apart! Anyway...she stamps, too. I married at age 18, and am still married to this wonderful man. We have 4 kids ranging in age from 21 to 10. The oldest is living in South Carolina to go to college. My hubby and I moved to the Klamath basin in Oregon the day after we got married. It is beautiful there, but VERY cold!! nearly 2 yrs later, he joined the Army, and retired from there 21/12 yrs later. (Which was last year.) We lived all over the US and Europe. Traveled a lot of the world, and had lots of fun doing so. We are now settled down, for awhile anyway, in Orlando, FL. I have been stamping since 1991, and have taught stamp classes all over the US. I gave it up (mostly) 2 yrs ago, so I could learn more things myself. I never had time to do more, before. That is my life in a half of a nutshell. I received my copy of "Rubber Delights" when I returned home from the hospital. This Friday the 13th started out like a horror film this morning for me........first Tinkerbell (thank heaven's she is black and white and not all black) runs in front of me making me twist my foot and fall on my knee skidding to a stop thanks to the floor! Yikes! I thought my toes were broke! Well, good timing because I had to be at the hospital at 11:00 for treatment anyway...turns out I sprained my left foot and my back! I can hardly move!!!! My toes hurt so bad that I don't even remember the needle going into my neck for chemo! Ha! So when I came in the door and saw a package from Phil I got so excited that I almost forgot I still had my Little Mermaid Bucket with me! Ha! Ha! Ha! Hey! It makes me feel better to throw up in a Little Mermaid Bucket! Anyway I ripped open the envelope to find a book that just makes my mouth water and a book that made me cry harder than I have in a long time. Ok, so I'm a little hormonal today....give me a break! This is just unbelievable. I do have to tell you truthfully, I did not know who you were talking about when I was reading the dedication and I don't think it has sunk in yet! I don't see myself like that at all. I am so in awe of some of our list family members with disabilities that I'm a little embarrassed by all the attention that is paid to me. I know it's just because you like to see me cry but you don't understand that I don't need to cry on the keyboard any more......I'm not into shock therapy! Eeeeeks! Thank you to Jody and Phil for all of your hard work. And thank you to Evo and Sheryl, two very special people in my life for your support with this and the Stamper A Day projects. I'm really stunned by the kindness and generosity.....I can't even think of words to tell everyone who donated a recipe how wonderful all of you are....I will say all of you will be getting a note from my doctor when my weight climbs to 5 tons thanks to all these goodies! Also thank you Phil for the great templates......could you please come here and show me how to use them? Hey! I never claimed to be a rock scientist! Well, I'm off to read my cookbook for the fourth time and then to breath for a couple of hours with my machine! I hope to come out to play later, if Tinkerbell doesn't kill me before midnight! Yikes! Giggles to you always! Love, Linda _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. My maiden name was "Sindeldecker". Many people mis-pronounced it as Singledecker. So.....kids at school thought it was funny to call me single-decker or double-decker. Of course, back then I was a real hot-headed person. When I was in my junior yr. of high school, a boy (a senior) kept saying that my name was double decker, because double deckers are "stacked". After several weeks of hearing this each day, I finally had enough. I gave him a new meaning to the name "double decker". I "decked" him in the stomach and he "doubled" over. After that, most of my friends just referred to me as "instigator". That nickname has stuck ever since. Almost 20 yrs. now. I have been a stamper for about 4+years but I am new to the list (about a month). I always knew that stampers were a great bunch of people. Go to any rubberstamp store and you can start up a conversation with a fellow purchaser you have never met in your life before is perfect evidence. I have been fortunate to be able to take over Canadian Stamper, a small Canadian publication for stampers. I have met so many really neat people. So I feel doubly blessed in finding this list and the readers of Canadian Stamper. Melanie - ---------- > From: Christine L.
