(LONG) I opened the mailbox and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw all the great stuff in there! I got several great cards, Rubber Stamper mag, Creating Keepsakes mag, a jewelry maker's catalog, and my Smudges catalog! WOW! OK, here are the people who sent me cards.... Nisa ~ Yes, I was the recipient of one of Nisa's wonderful Cupid cards! I saw a write-up of the description already, so I won't say anymore, except that my hubby love it! =) Thanks a lot, Nisa! Brenda Volpe ~ I sent Brenda one of my stamped fun-foam cards, so she could see the technique, and yesterday she sent me a card in return. It is a beautiful collage with images stamped in a coppery ep, a little rose, a bow, a postage stamp, a fan charm, and strips of corrugated cs. So pretty! Thank you, Brenda! And I got CCCC's from Linda Lloyd, Robin Cramer, Charley Faust, and Janie Mundt. Linda ~ She sent me a cute card with a stamp of her cat, Lady, on it! On the front it says "Love me, love my cat". Inside the card it says "Dogs come when they're called. Cats take a message and get back to you". (Both my dog and my cat do this, unfortunately!!) Thanks, Linda! Robin ~ This is a funny card! Inside a zebra stripe frame is a red embossed cat with high heels on. Then inside the card it says "It's a hormone thing". =) Love it! And Robin sent me some cute little cat cartoons. Thank you, Robin! Charley ~ This is a great card! Charley did a pink postcard, then layered 3D vinyl on top. Then on top of the vinyl is a pink kitty. She is colored with markers, but then Charley somehow stamped little flowers on her fur and highlighted them with glitter! And the kitty is wearing some far out boots with glitter on them, too! And this was in clear envy, so the postal workers got to enjoy it on its way to me! Thanks, Charley! Janie ~ Last, but not least, I got a super cute Valentine with a kitty stamped on velvet, then layered on tissue, then layered on cs, then layered onto the card. Inside is a kitty looking at a bird and saying, "Hello, my purrrrrrrty. Won't you be mine?" And Janie included some little red confetti hearts. Too cute! Thanks, Janie! Ladies, I hope to get some time to make cat cards soon. Keep watching your mailboxes. =) Shel a.k.a. Priority mail is First Class mail for small packages. That is, anything over 10 ounces is sent by Priority rather than First Class. The Priority Mail system is optimized for these packages. Frankly, ordinary envelopes are not the best pieces to put into such a stream. There are, I believe, two central hubs for all Priority Mail in the country. One is in Indiana. I don't remember where the other is. Everything gets sent there and then back out again. This is the postal service equivalent of Atlanta International. Try to fly into the southeastern United States without passing through Atlanta! Priority Mail measures up very well against its competition: UPS. It costs a bit more than UPS ground for larger packages (but quite a lot less for smaller!) yet the service can be much, much faster. Priority Mail from here (Washington State) to Connecticut, for example, is two days. UPS Ground is 7 days. - --Chris McEwen reply to: Socrates Press socrates@sprintmail.com -----Original Message----- From: Valerie Palmquist To: Rubberstampers@crafts.dm.net Date: Wednesday, February 18, 1998 3:12 AM Subject: RS: TAN: Post OFfice question Is it my imagination or does 3 day priority mail take longer to deliver than normal snail mail? Of course my po hauls trucks of mail at least 5 times a day to the Minneapolis airport. Last week even with the labels such that the mail had to me hand processed people were getting them in 2 days accross the country. If you are not getting that kind of service, I would guess that there is a problem in your local office. If you ever get the message "error occurred...view network status" push the "view network status" button. It will take you to ICQ's page where it tells you if it's the network or you in particular. Yesterday I couldn't connect and the page said there was a network glitch and for the next hour it would be difficult to maintain connections. So it's good to know there's a status page...! Hope this helps! She stamped and embossed in gold a beautiful heart with a rose in the middle (Is this a third coast stamp?) She colored the heart in with markers in various shades of red. She also stamped and embossed in gold a wonderful saying on red glossy cs, which she trimmed with decorative scissors. Both images she mounted on a sheet of background paper of pink roses. She then mounted this on pink parchment. On the inside she stamped Happy Valentine's Day. A beautifully done card. It was perfect timing. I had been running around all morning long trying to get out of work and get ready to go to Montreal for the long weekend. It was nice opening such a wonderful card.
