Hi there I have an Australian friend who will be staying in LA for 5 days soon. She was hoping this list may be able to recommend ONE stamping store that has everything in it :) She doesn't have much time to go to lots of stamp stores so she wants to know what store would you recommend a newbie to visit that has lots of paper, stamps, ink, accessories etc.... She will be staying in a hotel on Rodeo Drive (I think?) so she is happy to travel say 40 minutes away but not too much further to get to a stamp store. So... any recommendations out there? If you could provide addresses and/or telephone number for the recommended store that would be very appreciated. Thanks. You'll notice the color will be strong at first, and as you stroke, the color will fade more and more. Everytime you re-dip, the color will re-strengthen. ~~To clean the tip, just scribble the blender pen on a scrap piece of paper (stained tips will still color clean). Some folks like to use special watercolor papers too... but I get good results on my regular cardstock...lighter colors obviously show watercolor effect the best. Try the blender on chalks too, for a neat effect...! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I sell two types... ~~Tombow (non refillable, longer brush-like tip) $2.20 each ~~Dove (refillable w/fluid and separate tips you can change too. Tips are a little shorter and a little more compact) Pens: $3.40 ea Tips: $.50 ea fluid: $4.42 ea I find that the tips will stain after awhile, but they still work well ... after aggressive use, however, they do get scruffy at the top. If you think you'll be doing LOTS of larger areas and lots of projects, you might want to go refillable. Some folks are trying the Tombow first to experiment with the technique and then if they like it, they go with the Doves to save money in the long run. Hope this helps! Wow... it's great to get my first SST package so early. The bag was "packed" with goodies and it had some great items in there. My SST has sent a beautiful spiral bound diary with a lovely collage on the front and a gold embossed sun. I haven't written in a diary for years but remember it was fun when I was younger. I'm flying to Melbourne in a couple of hours for the stamping convention so perfect timing to get a brand new diary to write all the things that I see and purchase there :) Also got heaps of transparency type plastic which is perfect for shaker cards. There's at least 15 sheets so thanks for being so generous. Several lovely organza ribbons in different colours and some with hearts - a pretty hot pink one too. Next I pulled out a 101 Dalmatian pen... perfect for writing in my diary so better pack that in the bag for Melbourne (I love dalmatians and have one of my own called Daisy). Got about 36 "fuzzy velour" stickers of different dogs (including a dalmatian). These stickers are amazing. They are cute small stickers made of felt or velour type of material. Never seen these before but will use them for sure. My SST also sent me some cards with a square cutout (and envelopes) that I can use to make shaker cards. And another packet of cards with a cathedral style cutout and envelopes. These will be very useful for my next swap. Several double sided cushions for using with unmounted stamps but because they are so nice and thick, they will be perfect for my shaker cards. Haven't finished yet... heaps more! My SST sent me a tombow pen (brown) which I need to colour in teddy bears. Hologram sticker paper, some lovely smelling tea - english breakfast, irish breakfast and ceylon supreme, earl grey! And Wow... some flower seeds. Having just moved into a new house this week I need to get a garden going so what a great idea. I was given seeds to grow Pansies, Chrysanthemums and Livingstone Daisys. And best of all (well my dog thinks so anyway) is a yummy doggy chocolate treat for my dalmatian Daisy. As soon as I started opening the treat she immediately ran up to me and sat down as straight as possible LOL.... she knows how to get what she wants! Thanks SST... great timing and lovely gifts. Keep the absorbency of the paper in mind when you choose your images. Test = it on one of the napkins. If they are kinda pricey they may have a finish = or "tighter" grain that will prevent the ink from spreading as much as = your generic 4000-in-a-package variety. I think bold stamps will work = better than detail and I'd avoid text unless it also is pretty bold. Let us know, K? Can you stamp and emboss on napkins? I have never heard of it. My grandparents were robbed in their own house by a couple of low-lives... they came to the door wearing very official looking water department uniforms. They had business cards from the City Water Dept. From my GP's house, you can't see the street, so they could not see what their vehicle looked like. The men had toolbelts on, and said they needed to take a tap water test due to some sewer leakage into the water system. So my GP's let them in. Once in, the men took duct tape from their tool belts and bound my GPs. They then beat them with their huge wrenches until my GPs disclosed where they kept their jewelry and cash. Once they had what they wanted, they left... leaving my GP tied up with duct tape in the middle of the kitchen... They couldn't move... couldn't get up without help, as they were very old and slightly crippled.... heck... they couldn't even scoot themselves to the phone!! Luckily, my dad was supposed to stop by there for dinner that night, and he showed up and found them. They had been lying there on the floor for over 4 hours. True story!! And I don't think the bastards who did this were ever found. - -Fran the Frantic Stamper :-@ This message was from FranRShaw@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I will be making another trip to Portland on Saturday, March 7th. That means I can get more petal paper for those of you who missed out last time (or if you want more!) WHAT IS IT? This is 9 pt. cardstock and matching text weight paper with REAL flower petals. The base color of the cardstock/paper is a soft white, and the dried flower petals are mostly pinks, blues, and mauves. There are 2 types... each available in cardstock weight AND text weight. Both are smooth finish (no bumps) so you can stamp, or write on them with ease. #1 - "Lots of Petals" - this one has lots of tiny petals throughout, the petals are more broken up, and denser... #2 - "Sparce Petals" - this one has fewer petals, and they are more spread out.... not such a heavy feeling..., but the petals are bigger and more colorful. HOW MUCH IS IT? "Lots of Petals" in CARDSTOCK WEIGHT - 10 sheets/$7.50 "Lots of Petals" in TEXT WEIGHT paper - 10 sheets/$3.50 "Sparce Petals" in CARDSTOCK WEIGHT - 10 sheets/$7.50 "Sparce Petals" in TEXT WEIGHT paper - 10 sheets/$3.50 BONUS - Order 1 package of each and receive 10 sheets of Royal Fiber Periwinkle, which compliments the colors in the petals so well!! **FREE!!!! :-) US Shipping: $3 for up to 100 sheets Foreign shipping: Please ask WHEN WILL I SHIP? I will be shipping these on Monday March 9th. I would like most of the monies to be here before I go pick these up (these are quite pricey, so I will only be buying what I have orders for.) Please e-mail me to reserve yours and I will send confirmation. Send check or MO to Fran Robertshaw, 2682 Beverly Dr., Medford, OR 97504. Number each image and put that number on the back of the die. Next to the stamped image, list the RS company (if you know it). Please DO NOT send more than 30 dies, if you do I will have to return them UNSWAPPED. In addition, defective dies will also be returned UNSWAPPED. Be sure to include a list of likes, dislikes, upcoming events, hobbies etc. so I can give you dies you will be happy to get! :-) Obviously there may be some you don't like but I will try my very best to be sure everyone gets something from their wish list. How much you get from your wish list depends on what is sent in and what everyone wants. If you don't give me a wish list - who knows what you will get so send that wishlist! I will trade 1 for 1 taking size into consideration so that a large stamp will be traded for a large or a few small/medium depending on the size etc. Also, you are welcome to send in nudes, spanish etc but you are taking a risk as if I do not get any requests for these I will have to send them back unswapped. If you have a lot of these unusual/uncommon types you may want to wait until towards the end of the swap before sending your dies and check with me so I can see if people have requested those types of dies. Mailing Info: SAML, loose stamps in amount of postage it takes you to mail me the dies PLUS 2 extra stamps (.23 fine) to help cover the cost of the envies and if your swapped dies cost more to send back. Postmark: April 3, 1998 Please don't be late, it's not fair to everyone who sends in on time. I would like to have everything swapped and out of here by April 15th.
