Dear SSS, Though others say their SS is the best, I know the real truth!!!!! You are so generous with everything!!!!!! I have been blessed to have the three greatest SSSers in the three rounds I have played! I thought the package was packed in a trick box- it was never ending!!!!!! You have taught me so much with your presentation of everything. Your packages always show all time and loving that you put into it. because of the way you present everything to me, I have started doing that for my SS. Now to the package: The first thing I pulled out of the box was an envelope addressed to me!! I pulled out a cute card. All the corners were rounded and a background of sky was stenciled or stamped on it. How did you do that?=20 toward the bottomof the card my SS stamped some grass and some sunflowers growing out of the grass. A brown bear made with Liquid applique suede was glued to the front of the card. A pot of honey was taped on with foam tape, giving it a 3D look. Three of the tiniest bees were stamped in the sky. Inside was a really nice note, and the directions for making faux suede using liquid applique!!!! I have never made faux suede, so I am looking forward to it. The next thing that caught my eye was a tin white mailbox. On the outside was stamped some sunflowers and a bear!! They were embossed on there!! I would never have thought to do that!! I may just go out and buy some tin mailboxes to send to my SSS. Inside the box were kisses. Yummmmm!!!!! Everything else in this box was wrapped in wallpaper, tissue or craft paper stamped with different images and tied with ribbons or lace. I kept everything so that I can use them in cards!!!!! One of the items was in a pale blue pillow box that had blue dots all over it and had buttons glued to it. =20 This is a list of what else was in the box: *Two Avon Skin-So-Soft Soaps- they smell woderful and are in my bathroom *A bag full of wide ribbons- green, midnight blue with silver threads, white with peach, and pink with irises *A bag with makeup sponges wrapped in red net and tied with red rickrack *A bag full of thin ribbons- many different colors *A bag full of buttons *Brown liquid applique to make faux suede-- Yippee, now I can try it!! *A bottle ful of shamrock confetti *A sky blue cat's eye pigment pad- I needed it!!!! *A Pooh stamp- my 2 year old nephew loves Pooh and borrowed my other Pooh stamp. I'm not going to let him see this one!!! *Two stamps from Great Impression- Two bunnies, and Easter basket!!! *Better Living Through Chocolate Dessert Cookbook from CAthy *A Tin of Swiss Color water color pencils *A Magenta Marvy marker *A plastic envelope full of background papers *A pattern for the Pillow box, one already on cardstock *Yellow linen card stock *Purple cardstock All of this was surrounded with cupid confetti on many different colors. Jana=B4 is right. You do spoil me!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for everything. I look forward to getting to know you over the next 4 months. Thanks for the clues!!! HOWEVER . . . I once worked in an area near where people did telemarketing, and gosh, the things people would say to them! It's awful! So, I always try to remember that they're just hourly paid people who were hired by a company to try to sell something. It's not their fault, it's just their job . . . and while I wish people wouldn't bug me (and I've taken steps to minimize that), I still TRY to recognize that these are people just trying to earn themselves a living! They're NOT the people who make up the calling lists! After all, has anybody on this list ever scrubbed toilets? And do you get paid for it? Well, some people scrub toilets for a living. I wouldn't want to do it, but I wouldn't want to get tormented because I was doing my job, either. Have you ever noticed these "invisible" people? Have you ever stopped to say, "thank you for keeping this rest room clean?" It can bring a huge smile to someone's face. So, to the telemarketer, you could try, "Thank you for calling, I'm not interested, good bye" and hang up. This seems to me a way to handle the situation with dignity, and it's what I choose to do. Rebuttals? Other opinions? Flames? (Oh NO!) Support for this gentle approach? The people who handle the calling are just people like you and me, people with kids, trying to pay their rents or mortgages, and trying to get along. There are many, many reputable telemarketing agencies in this country, and I don't like to see incorrect information published on this list. Are there some companies who use prisoners? I don't know. I do know from my business experience that there are a lot of companies out there who do it right . . . there are rules they have to follow, and there are laws governing these calls. The people do NOT have your telephone numbers, they are autodialed. This is the reason why often when you answer there may be a few seconds delay in the response . . . the person is just connecting to a call which was answered. I don't like scare tactics used on anyone, and certainly not on this list. And I don't like flames or zaps at people, just because they've expressed their opinion, either. We all have a right to be who we are, without getting ridiculed for it. Can you tell you hit one of my hot buttons? And that's my opinion . . . please don't post mis-information. I ask for their home phone # so I can call them back when they are eating dinner and give them the information they are requesting. Works everytime. Usually they start stammering and then hang-up. They are nothing but an aggravation and they are constantly interrupting something I'm doing. You can't nicely say I'm not interested. They just interrupt and keep talking. Thats when they push one of my hot buttons. becky-bear On Sat, 21 Feb 1998 16:38:38 EST StamPerson@aol.com writes: >In a message dated 98-02-21 16:25:52 EST, you write: > ><< Are ya'll aware that a lot of these come from Prisons? >> > >Well, I work for a large national retailer, and I can tell you with a >CERTAINTY that they do not use prisoners. I'll probably get flamed for this, but such is life. I'm not writing to take sides, and I don't consider this post to be a flame -- although it may very well be interpreted that way. I'm writing about what I believe to be an issue of consideration and sensitivity. A few people have posted that the poem that was posted to the list was "too intimate" to be shared with the list members. Maybe it was to some people, but I think the person who determines whether it's a violation of shared intimacy is the person who wrote it -- not the people who read it. If the author doesn't care, where's the harm in it. And if it makes the reader so uncomfortable, then maybe that's food for thought as to why. The thing that I can't understand -- and perhaps this is an example that might help further clarify my point -- is that there have been things posted on this list that have been *exceedingly* MORE intimate than that poem posted to this list, and I am fairly certain that such personal information was done so without the person's permission (eg., person tried to commit suicide, person going to jail or getting out of jail, ex-spouse trying to do x-y-z, having to go to juvenile court for child, etc., etc.). Yet, no one said one word of criticism about the intimacy or privacy of such matters. Why -- because we *don't* kick a person when they're down. I think we have the sense to know that when someone is sharing their pain and reaching out to others, they aren't looking for a detached commentary on the appropriateness of their communication. Well, that young woman who shared her poem was doing the same thing. She was reaching out to others: the difference being that she was sharing her joy and her happiness -- not her sadness -- all the more poignant because I'm sure she misses her husband who was deployed to Bosnia. I imagine there must be some sadness there, but she chose to hold onto the happiness and joy in expressing the longing for her husband whom she loves dearly. I think the detached commentary on the appropriateness of her communication after she shared her feelings with the list was tantamount to a "kick" -- although she was up. It's true that out of 600 people, you can expect all kinds of opinions -- pro and con. But I don't think that poem was a topic to be discussed and debated. I think the issue is more about consideration and sensitivity, and if you can't understand that, well, I don't think you and I can have a viable dialog. I also recognize that for whatever reasons people on this list have varying capacities for empathy, sensitivity, and consideration. While lack of consideration and insensitivity annoy me tremendously at times, I'm not one to pass judgment because I believe in the truism about walking a mile in someone else's shoes. But that doesn't mean that I won't try to stay out of harm's way. You bet I will! I don't enjoy being a masochist. twINKlebell _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
