The mental exercise of solving them is a good way to help young people learn to use cognitive thinking skills, as well as trying their hand at problem solving. Mystery stories have long been an entertaining source of puzzles, some more than others have. Todays Famsite, Kids Love a Mystery, is a site that is dedicated to kids and mystery stories (what else?). Here children can read and participate in online stories and games that are designed to entertain, and yet develop their minds. There are Chillers, Bafflers, Magic, and Solve-its. There is even an area that a visitor can try writing his or her own story. In the parent's area, the emphasis is on the educational value of the stories, as well as some interesting things for adults. So if you'd like to curl up with your computer tonight and enjoy a good mystery then this site is a good one for you. Have a nice stop here. This is the lowest I've seen this machine sold for and thought I'd pass the info along. They only have 30 stores in 15 states. I don't know if they'd do mail order but you can try by calling them at 1800-741-5344. - --Chris McEwen reply to: Socrates Press socrates@sprintmail.com Keyport, Washington This message was from "Chris McEwen" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. They are so pretty!! Every swap I join gives me that many more ideas. Jepeka - A Stampin Up rabbit stamp with lace like look. There was ribbon wove through it. Pretty! Stampingmom - She used ribbon to frame a wagon full of flowers. The purple is pretty. Carole - You make the best cards. She stamped spools and added lace, buttons and a ribbon bow. No name - Stamped sunflowers and mounted romancing elephants on top. Then added a red ribbon bow. Love the elephants! Shirley - She stamped a honey pot and layered it on bee paper. The pot has a ribbon bow. Cute card! Clarice - What a great example of your paper products! She printed an angel off the computer, then layered it on mulberry and then cardstock. She added a gold bow. Very elegant. This message was from Susan - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Cox" Subject: RS: RAKed by Kelly Kilmer I got a great RAK from Kelly Kilmer today. It's a paper pocket! When I read about these I expected them to be much more utilitarian looking. This is so elegant! Kelly used a piece of brown corrugated paper for the background and on it she layered a orangy/brown piece of cs. On top of that is layered an off white paper pocket which is tied shut with a very pretty gold metallic cord. What kind of paper is the pocket made from, Kelly? It's really pretty. This is a marvelous presentation. When I opened it up, it was full of red hearts confetti and there's a sticker of a Mary Engelbrecht Queen ('cuz you know I'm QOFE! ;-) What a wonderful card, Kelly. Thank you so much for making it for me. Cheers!!! Cox" Subject: RS: REALLY nice story about Anne I want to share something REALLY nice with you guys. Awhile back I put out a general message to the list asking if anyone was from Asheville, North Carolina. I got a response from someone I don't know named Anne. What I needed was some help for a project I'm doing for work. I needed information about the new city hall in Asheville. Anne very graciously offered to go down and see what she could find. Well, I got the package today. My goodness, Anne! There is a photocopy of the original announcement sent out when the city hall originally opened in 1928 (it has just been restored). There are flyers and brochures from the chamber of commerce in Asheville, including a business card in case I need more information. Anne got me the name and phone number of the architect on the project. There is even a postcard, picturing a painting of the city hall building which was painted by Anne's neighbor. This was all packed in an Asheville, North Carolina bag. Keep in mind that Anne doesn't know me from Adam. Anne also sent me a beautiful hand made card. I do mean beautiful. This thing is truly a work of art. All pinks and burgundy and grey. It features the Curtis Uyeda crane (and you all know how I feel about Curtis' stamps). Now the kicker, Anne also included a whole bunch of wonderful exotic background papers! I'm blown away by this. Anne, you were doing *me* a favor! I can't believe you sent me a gift! I'm really touched by this, Anne. Thank you so much for all the trouble you went to (in *that* weather!) and this wonderful package. Cheers!!! Christine This message was from "Christine L.
