Of course, no one can say for sure that something like this didn't happen somewhere, sometime... but htis one's been around for a long time! (in college, it was N.Y.C.) Prof. Jan Brunvand (sp?) has written a number of great books on these stories. Usually, they have a warning/moral like don't get drunk/don't cheat on your wife with the mystery gal at bar. This is an interesting variation in that it comes with a "verification" but still happened to "a friend" who is unnamed. I'm still slightly color impaired but I'll try my best. From Sherry Webster a beautiful rose colored card with 'LOVE' stamped on vellum and colored on the backside mounted in one corner and a ribbon bow and button in the opposite corner. Everything's blue and rose and white...very pretty. And LindaLoo sent a beautiful cream colored card with a copper embossed mommy and baby elephant and bamboo stalks layered on some really neat looking paper. It reminded me that I have a similar elephant stamp that I've never used so I got it out and I'm going to find some way to stamp it. Shel Billett sent a very nice collage with a green background paper, some green ivy stamped and layered on top and a wax seal a button and a postage stamp all in complimenting shades of green. And from KC Reshel a very cute rose and ribbon border stamped on white cardstock and watercolored (I think) very subtly in pinks, greens and blues. In the center is the message "Life without friends is like a garden without flowers"...very elegant. Thank you all so much for these new treasures. Can any one offer advise > to a novice so she doesn't have to go to a convention with a bare chest? Duh, wear a bra? Sorry, tacky humor there. All shrink plastics, like dictionaries, are not the same. It takes some experience to learn how to choose and use what's available. I started using shrink plastic in the 70's and what Judy described are the basic problems I had had then. There *are* plastics available now that shrink "true", squares stay square etc. When working with the others, note which way the plastic shrinks more. Never put stuff on the diagonal. A little practice will show which way to put a rectangle of just what size for it to shrink into a square ... likewise exactly what oval will shrink into a circle. I've never had a problem with Sanford Sharpie markers rubbing off. They will, however, also be permanent on your rubber. They contain alcohol and should not be used directly on polymer stamps which can become *worse* than just stained. Others will comment on using the Fabrico pads ... I'm totally inexperienced with 'em. I think it's great that you are back in school-best of luck to you. I've been working toward my BSN in a home study program for about 18 months now.Sure beats having to go to class. I was sorta keeping on track until this RS business came up! LOL! Oh well, maybe I can earn xtra points by stamping on my papers before I send them in! - -----Original Message----- From: Heather Reilly To: rubberstampers@crafts.dm.net Date: Friday, March 13, 1998 12:15 PM Subject: RS:TAN: Back at school > >Hi everyone! > Just thought i'd let you all know that i just started my night classes >at the >Texas school of business yesterday ( a training/vocational shcool). Here are the descriptions of what I = received: Monica White: pc-cool PARTY! stamp with curly ques all around the text. = Great watercolor background. I love the way the colors blend so well. No Name Included: This one is very cute. Dry embossed cloud design on = front of beige linen cs with a little angel girl blowing a horn walking = through the clouds. Really cute present stamped inside on one corner. = Thanks. Great embossing idea. Rain: aka CZarrata: Baby shower invitation: Delicate stamp of a baby = in a gown sleeping on a crescent moon with a star hanging from the top = corner of the moon. Nice pastels. Wonderful layering, too. Ululani Pomroy: Great idea. Ululani made the shape of her invitation = part of the design. It is light green cs cut (by hand or die cut?) into = the shape of a teddy bear. There is a small narrow ribbon tied through = the neck of the shape and has the appropriate You're invited info = stamped below. Simple, but very effective and nice. Diane Aiken: Okay, now I will try to explain this well. There is lt. = blue linen cs stamped with It's a shower and other info. Then wrapped = around this cs is some vellum with very small designs in it. The vellum = goes around the back and over laps in the front so there is a left and = right part to open to get to the inside. On the left flap Diane stamped = a bunch of tulips--vibrant colors and on the left flap there are two = sets of wedding rings embossed in silver & gold. There is a small rose = sticker on that flap too. Lots of work, I bet.
