Table decorations: use tea cups and saucers, tea pots, decorative little dishes with candies or packaged tea bags in them. Rolled up lacy napkins in a pretty tea cup. Doilies (paper or lace) in the center of the table under the decorations. Flowers floating in a water filled pretty bowl. Games: BINGO using tea related words: crumpets, tea, teapot, saucers, cream, sugar - give everyone a blank BINGO sheet with "free" in the center spot. Have them fill in the blanks with tea related words. You need to have a set of cards with tea related words, one per card. Another game with a large group could be a scavenger questionnaire - each person needs to find someone who fits the category and have them sign next to the statement. Can only have them sign one category. This forces them to get to know other people. Someone with a birthday in the same month as yours. Uses the same brand toothpaste. Plays an instrument Speaks a language other than English, Spanish or French Has lived in another country Favorite ice cream flavor. Etc. Favors: Laminated stamped images with magnet attached. i.e. our theme was Love so the image stamped was a heart that was laminated. A small bow was glued to the top and a magnet attached. The object lesson was that we need to be like magnets, which when touched to a paperclip cause that paperclip to be magnetic. When that paperclip touches another paperclip it causes the second paperclip to become magnetic too. God is the "Main magnet" as we get close to him and experience His perfect love, we become more like him (become magnetic). We need to show that love to others and they become magnetic, etc. Hope this makes sense. Another favor idea would be a bookmark which could be stamped or computer generated with a verse and tea images. Hmmm, if I think of any more ideas, I'll let you know. Let me first say that I applaud all of you who despise racism in all its forms and who hated the joke. Personally, I agree with you. I, however, can't truly judge the joke as I did not read it. I started to (it's true that the buffer zone sort of makes it MORE tempting) but just as I got to the first couple sentences I gave myself a little lecture about standards and how they aren't worth much if you don't hold to them. So I just didn't read it. But I guess my point is, "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it." This IS an unmoderated list, and there WAS a buffer zone. If it was a racist joke, it was despicable. But I still defend the rights of the person who posted it. If no one listened and no one laughed, that sort of joke would go away. So the onus is not on the teller, but on those who listen and laugh. Aside from that particular joke which I will not defend, I WILL say that I'm concerned that we as a people in general are losing our sense of humor. We've all become so politically correct, that we're offended over everything. Some things are truly just a JOKE. I think we all know that blondes aren't any dumber than anyone else, but some of the blonde jokes are hilarious. And some of my friends who laugh the hardest (and tell them the most) are blondes. And they are my favorite kind of people. The kind who can laugh at themselves and not get all up tight over everything. Sure, there's things that are NEVER funny, but I guess I just think we've carried things a little too far. I am NOT defending sick jokes that hurt people. I'm just saying that laughter is good, and we all need more of it in our lives. All of your card stock is so nice, as well as the gold touch (is this a sticker? Where did you get?). The background paper is so pretty. Did you make this with webbing spray? I have gold webbing spray & have never used-----well it will be used now. May get silver too. Thanks for the card with new ideas I'll be trying soon. Sure is nice having a support system to lean on! Love and Hugs This message was from sandy - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
