I have been reading the posts on those tiny books in Somerset and was dying to try one, but had no shrink plastic, fabrico ink, etc., so this morning I took inventory of what I DID have and made some books!! I used clay coated newsback cut to size, punched tiny holes in it with a jewler's punch, and embossed with UTEE, then impressed my images! Beautiful! Cover the inside with a tiny piece of paper. Cut tiny pages, punched holes, and put together 2 different ways: jump rings and wire. They turned out great! Thank you. Carolyn ?-a very classy, elegant card. On black glossy cs, she silver emb a rose cluster on the upper left edge. Just off center a circular hole is cut out revealing a smaller circle of black cs with a different rose cluster emb. The edge of the circle and card are fancy cut edged and hole punched. This is so evenly spaced, great job. Then a circle of vellum is laying on the inside black circle as a store bought card would have. Marcia Balonis-a neat circular card. On white cs with gold emb edge a collage of sewing items. Buttons, papers, stamped items. Neat idea and I like the collage theme--need to do more of it myself. Mark Dutt-a treat card for that Easter candy.. On white cs an egg is emb in black and rainbow brayered. It is cut out on the right side with the rest of the circle cut out revealing the inside. Has a plastic bag inside ready for the candy treats. Love this idea. DK-on cloudy blue cs a blue stamped compass that is partially cut out with the circle cutter. Then it's folded back to reveal part of the inside. Great job on cutting a partial circle and how did you start and stop it exactly on the folded edge? DK-on brown cs a circle with darker brown images. Edge is painted with?? pink and gold paint. DK-on light green cs a circle tag with raffia bow. Has a green stamped circular image. Nice. DK-on light lavender cs a four petal card with leaves stamped on the circular parts. What is this ink? Did you again use the circle cutter on these edges? How do you start and stop it so precisely? I don't have the big kind, but maybe a leplume will do.. now.. anyone know how to get burned bean smell outta my house? sigh. was gonna have black beans and rice for dinner.. set the beans to boil/soak.. musta underguessed the water.. time they'd boiled for 10 minutes, they'd boiled dry.. and been boiled dry for a fair while, judging from the smoke.. thankfully, is plenty warm enough to fling open the windows and turn on the fans, but still is taking longer than me and the cats and the kids are willin' to tolerate! specially the cats.. they're pretty freaked anyway.. while ago I caught sight of somethin' walkin' past the kitchen window outta corner of my eye, so I swung round and caught a tad bit better glimpse as it disappeared behind the chimney.. just a better enough glimpse to convince me there was a cow (holstein) wanderin' round in my back yard.. neat trick, that.. so I go to other door and get a good look, and it's not a cow after all, it's a great dane tryin' to pass for one.. where it came from I dunno, so I went out to the front door to see if there was someone hangin' out in the road looked like they'd misplaced some spotted livestock (wasn't), but on the way I came across persimmon standin' atop the highest piece of furniture she could get on, back arched, alla her fur standin' at odd angles, tail 3 times as fat as normal, lookin' like she was posin' for halloween stamp.. then possum came slinkin' round the corner, also with overblown tail.. obviously they'd seen that cow too (odds are they were snoozin' in one of the kitchen windows and got sniffed! and possum thinks he wants to *be* outside.. heh.. maybe *that* cured him..).. rofl! never did figure out where that thing came from, but it wandered off down the street again, so.. maybe it went home.. gonna have red beans and rice for dinner now.. from a mix this time. won't be the same, but I'm not goin' back to the grocery again today. anno (rambling) This message was from "anno" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Diana.... Do I think you're being over protective or over sensitive? Nope. I don't have kids, but as a person raised by a Mom who probably raised her kids similar to you, I can imagine how you feel. I also think, however, that punching holes in one's "family jewels" probably isn't a good indication of who a person is or how they were raised. Several years ago, I decided I wanted a tattoo. My reasons for doing this were pretty clear to me. I wanted a permanent reminder/mark of something that was very important to me. I thought over this pretty thoroughly. My friends, for the most part, were pretty shocked. (If you had ever met me, you would NEVER peg me as one who has a tattoo anywhere on her vanilla body). My mother would NEVER understand it. Thus, I choose to place this reminder in a place my Mom was never gonna see it. The tattoo was for me, and for no one else. I think my Mom would understand the concept behind the tattoo, but she would NEVER understand the tattoo. I have always felt that my reason for the permanently marking my body was sane. In addition, I have always believed that what is inside the vessel is more important than the vessel. I would like to be able to share that with my Mom because of its importance to me. My guess, from reading your post, is that you love your children in a extraordinary way. My further guess is that your son, if he told you about this piercing, knows that you love him that way. Maybe a discussion about WHY he did it is in order?? Of course, there's one other thing. Maybe he did it out of stupidity? (Yea, yea, that might sound cruel, but then I've done LOTS of things out of stupidity.....) Just my .02.... They were all wonderful! From Judy Perry: On Black Confetti CS, a diagonal piece of (handmade?) white paper which contains pieces of colored "tinsel" and in one corner is a triangle of corrugated black paper... Then, a lovely woman image is embossed, black on white cardstock, which is cut out and mounted on red cs... and then *this* is mounted on the card. (so it overlaps the white diagonal and corrugated paper) Very nice! From Lori Blaauw: Black card with a black envelope! - the card has a lady w/ rose embossed in gold, and colored with (I think) pearl ex interferrance powders or paints. The card has the same image embossed and colored. Also, the card has "Thinking of You" embossed in gold on the front. Very elegant! From Sandy Lemons: Gotta have the marble background stamp by JudiKins! Anyway, on a black postcard, the marble background is stamped in gold. There's a line of glitter w/ clear embossing powder down one side. The main image of a couple is black on white, with corners rounded; the flower has those tiny little gold beeds on it; this is mounted on black - another corner punch was used - which is then mounted on the marbled background. Very nice! From Thea Boschma: A large peacock feather was stamped and embossed 3 times - with 3 different powders (all variations with gold in them) - in an arc (the "stems" meet in the lower right corner, and the feathers "fan out") - on black cs, with rounded corners. This was mounted on a dark purple cs to make a postcard. "Happy Birthday" is gold embossed on black, corners punched and mounted on dark purple cs; this is then mounted with foam in the upper left corner. Very impressive! From Annette Craner: There are 4 layers to this postcard...The base is Black, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the front! -> it's an irridescent/metallic purple shade; on this is a black embossed pattern on black cs; on this is another layer of black paper only it has swirls of bronze/red (looks like interference paints); the top layer is cut into a circle - I think it was originally black, but depending on the light it looks purple, white and gold! - and it's stamped with a flower pattern. This is an intriguing card. I'd love to know it's secrets! Thanks to Stargazer for hosting! Koss" Subject: RS: Touch of Glitter Swap Received I have received my swap for the Touch of Glitter group. From Carocline (I appoligize for names here because all of my info went into the hopper when Netscape died on me.) A lovely card with I Love you in several languages - two of them Romance languages at that. Balloons on a pretty ivory cardstock. Lisa Mallette - a fall harvest of veggies on white, layered on yellow, on top of orange CS that has a glittered border. Pretty. From Linda (BSKTCATS) - A neat Micky and Minnie on blue speckled paper that has fancy edging, layered on red CS with red and white checked hearts on top. I know a friend who will like that. From RubberTales - Merlin casting a spell with his crystal ball on purple metalic paper on top of purple fancy edged paper. Very different. Theresa Marie - Very cute card with ants. One ant in a jar. You'll have to tell me how you did the background on the front. There's a bow "tied" to the jar. Inside it says Heard you caught a bug. The letters have all been accented with glitter as well as the "caught" bug. Cute. Thanks to all and especially Diane for hosting this. Thanks for the bag of goodies, too.
