Barbara Schuck - a really sweet bear that is colored and layered on some fun paper with bubbles, then layered again on paper that looks like it's been brayered with bubble wrap? Am I right? Thanks so much Kari!! These books are wonderful! They have truly inspired me! Well, here goes my attempt at describing them: Lisa Mallette: A teeny tiny star book in bright spring colors, decorated with stars on the cover and ties with a spring green ribbon. Debbie Gleason-Morgan: A tiny bound book in purple and gold and decorated with a rubber stamp image, tying with a cream ribbon. Alicia: I'm not sure what type of book this is: the spine is sewn in a design (poor description) in a mettalic cord and the cover is a marbled green and gold paper decorated with a postoid of an oriental woman and also a wax seal. Kari: the background is all earthtone colors and she has small pieces of beige paper stamped with tiny petroglyphs and leaves collaged on this and then centered on the cover is a wonderful stamped paper clay piece of 3 Kokopelli. Giselle: I have never seen a book like this! Lovely and fun, because it was rather like a puzzle! And the Ocean/water theme was great! What is this type of book called Giselle?? Hugs and Smiles :~) :^D Helen holtanhpmn@juno.com Savage,Mn.( suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul) World's Best Chocolate Easter Eggs These delicious cream filled eggs taste just like a very famous store bought one. They are easy to make and kids and adults love them. Ingredients: 1 cup soft butter 2 tsp salt 4 tsp vanilla 1 can condensed milk (Eagle Brand) 10 cups icing sugar 1 tsp. yellow food coloring 1 lb. semi-sweet chocolate Method: Beat butter, salt and vanilla until fluffy. Add milk, beat in sugar. Blend until stiff. Dust with brown sugar. Knead til smooth. Set aside more then 2/3 of mixture. To the remaining mixture add yellow food coloring. Blend in well. Divde yellow and white into 16 or 24 pieces. Shape yellow into ball, mold white around yellow to form an egg shape. Dry at room temperature on paper towels for 24 hours. Melt chocolate in double boiler or in microwave until smooth. Dip eggs in chocolate. (parafin wax may be added and melted with chocolate to prevent chocolate from melting in your hands). Once dipped cool at room temperature. Refrigerate after cool. When sliced these eggs will have a white cream filling with a yellow filling that appears to be the yolk. They look nice sitting in an Easter basket!! - --------- End forwarded message ---------- _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I am still waiting for my very first order ever placed with a vendor on this RS list, and I have a question concerning business protocol of the vendors here (I'm still new). I hope some of you can help... I placed my order and sent in my check just over 5 weeks ago. At that time, I was told by the vendor that my order would take 4-6 weeks to arrive. That was fine. Four days ago I sent a query email to them to inquire about the status of my order, as I had been reading all sorts of postings by other people saying that their orders had arrived. I wondered where mine was - of course, I admitted that I was *antsy* :>) to receive it. No response. The next day, the vendor posted a general note to the list to say that they were way behind again and that all orders would be sent out in the order they were received. I emailed again to tell them I surmised that is why I hadn't heard from them in regards to my query, and that I hoped everything was ok. Still, no response. I have never received acknowledgemnt of my check, or any report whatsoever to update me on how my order is progressing. Is this normal? (I hope so....then I can sigh a sigh of relief!) I read so many postings by folks who've gotten all kinds of great feedback from vendors on the status of their orders....but maybe you guys are just the lucky, spoiled ones?! :>) Please offer feedback -- this was my first ever online RS order. I'd like to know the protocol here. Should I stop worrying? (probably, I hope). I realize each of us gets into tight spots at times, but a *no response* tends to boil the blood (I'm still working on "patience is a virtue"). Thanks in advance for any opinions. Best, C. I've already got 8 wonderful folks to help me do this !! But Iwould love to have 10 each month to make it even better. So if you want to even send me old swap and rak cards that are not get better or hope you are well soon ones, please do - I want to bombard the children with tons of love and cards. Just let me know -I take used cards - Will recycle with care. Most of the children are in for long term illness and most are terminal illness. Here is the orginial post: So many sick children in my local paper the past few days and it made me think about something that would be fun to do, I called and said that I would love to teach them to stamp and stuff, but they think that it might be too much for some of the kids, so the nurses suggested cards and postcards from all the states. So how about a monthly group for Kids ?I want to try to get as many cards as I can for the childrens hospital, (UMass - Medical Center Pedi ward). They take care of children from out patients to long term patients, cancer, chemo treatments, any type of life threating illness are treated at UMass. The nurses told me today that the kids that are long term get cards and stuff for the first 2 or 3 weeks/visits and then bang nothing else/ thats sad - - plus I know the parents would love that someone was thinking of them. I thought it would be nice to try to see how many cards a month we could get to the kids. Most of the children have terminal illnesses and are pretty sick little tots. If anyone is interested - let me know and I will figure out dates and call the Pedi ward and see if its better to drop them off once a month. I know that a wonderful lady does a cards for kids out in Ca, but I guess nothing in the East Coast. So want to help me ? It took me a while to decide that I should answer this post re: body piercing. Do I think you are being over protective? No I don't think so. I think we all have different values but I think what is important is that we try not only to UNDERSTAND other people's values but if you can't, then, respect their beliefs in them. I have two children. My son is gay. I will never understand WHY he is gay. His father is a jockey type guy and was MVP football player Homecoming King, popular etc.. when he was young. But my son claimed he was born gay. I still love him and always will. He is only 25 but is quite successful and makes more money than all my brothers and sisters (7 of us) put together. My daughter. She is an odd one. She is a born again Christian. She works part time at REI and is a freelance interpreter. She also is a pool interpreter at ASU. She makes 15.00 an hour and is only 21 years of age. When she gets her national certification she will make 25.00 or more an hour. She also does missionary work during the summer and has traveled to such places as Holland, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, Africa (twice), St. Vincent and this summer will be going to Panama as a Staff Leader. Now why is she the odd one? She got her tongue pierced! I thank God everyday that my family are so close and that we all know we can talk about anything we want and not worry about being disowned or disapproved or anything. I would rather my kids know they can come to me and talk about anything they want without worrying about whether I will disapprove or disown them. Are *YOU* sure your children would come to you knowing you would disapprove? I don't think so. You see I have tattoos and other body piercing that I haven't told my parents about because I know they would disapprove. I used it to cut door hangers out of cardstock, you know, for the part that goes around the doorknob. My daughter's girl scout group are decorating these for the residents of an Alzheimer's care center. Also, I've been planning to use it to make shaker cards for a swap. It could be used for a crystal ball, fishbowl, or snowglobe. Or you could cut a circle out of the front of a card and stamp the inside of the card for a framing effect. You can run the circles that you've cut out through a corrugator-makes neat background paper for layering. I have THE BEST SSS in the world! I am so amazed at how you put these wonderful packages together. You give me great ideas, too! My family adores you! This is how it happened today, just a few minutes ago, we finally got to unwrap the package!..... I was gone when my wonderful mail lady delivered this HUGE box to us. She's a great mail lady, she drives up my country driveway with anything that won't fit into the mailbox. I get home from shopping with my dad and they hit me up to open the box that says "happy birthday" and it also has name labels with my whole family's names all over the box! So, they know it's got to be for them, too! We opend up the box, to the packing material and then underneath were all these wonderful handmade trick cards for everyone! Lots of work went into these! She labeled everyone's cards and although they were all the same pattern, the RS were all different on each one. SS, thank you for the pattern! This is the "Everybody's Birthday" package! My children were so delighted! They kept saying you have such a cool SSS, Mom! Wow, she's so nice! There were so many packages wrapped in birthday paper and paper confetti streamers in bright colors. The packages had everyone's names on them and some for "family" Those were the hugs with almonds (you know I love these, and I was out!) Also, a very cute jelly belly tin with jelly bellys in it! Great for stamping "stuff" later! DH recieved a wooden back massager, that looks like a judge's hammer (LOL! that fits him to a tee!) and also flavored coffee! He loves his coffee! Then Aaran recieved a puzzle (he's putting it together now), a compilcated 3-D wooden dinosaur one, a little book;Sherlock Holmes, a magnet with his name and some m&m minis! He says "thank you very much!" Kira is tickled pink! She received an adorable figurine; a little angel with dried flowers and twigs in her hands and around her head. It looks handmade. Also, some of our favorite bath stuff, some m&m minis, a little book! They both recieved name magnets, great for their refrigeator art work! She can use the extra containers for her beads you sent! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!! Chris gifts and cards will have to be taken to him, he isn't with me (he's in Portland, :( My sister will be sure he gets them or I will send them. He will be so pleased! I recieved goodies galore...... a pair of earrings, I just got my ears repierced! My favorite color, blue and with little silver rubber stamp charms, too cute! They were put into a wooden heart box that I can paint myself. This really kewl kitchen assortment of goodies...a yellow check kitchen towel, a little rolling pin, almond milk kitchen hand soap and hand cream and a zester! This is really a cute set. A guardian angel pin, Kira also recieved one, but mine has blue wings which is my favorite color! You remembered! :) An "Irish" candle in a tin! I love my candles! I will burn it tonight. some gift wrapping paper Whew, there's more! There are four wonderful pencils, I've never seen these before. They have lines carved in them, too kewl and funky erasers on the ends. I will share these with the kids, the like them!! Avery laminating sheets, 4 packages!!! 25 Magna Cards which is what Aaran and Kira's name magnets were made from! Way cool! I will be using these for my biz cards, thank you! The stamps, there are 5 stamps, plus a set!!! Most of these are ocean related and I didn't have even one! A beach chair, sandle castle, sand, an ocean scene, an umbrella, a word stamp like the one she used on my birthday card.....I love it! Also, a PSX birthday set. This is going to go so well with my Kidstamps character holding a balloon. They will fit into the balloon perfectly! I also got the postcards and letter which had slipped to the bottom. The scenery truly is gorgeous! You are in "snow" country over on the East coast. More so than Oregon. Your letter is delightful and I cannnot wait to find out who you are! (I really do like the surprise at the end.) It's just so much fun! Thank you, SSS and lots of hugs and kisses! DH especially needed a pick-me-up because he is so stressed about his work. A pick-me-up from you is wonderful always! Thanks again...
