Diana, Nary a snicker came out of my mouth...As the mother of a 15 year old son, I agonize all the time about the things he says he's going to do when he no longer lives under my roof. Dyeing his hair, tattoos, piercings, all night keggers, etc. He's always joking when he says these things, but there has to be some element of longing (as he sees it) in there somewhere. I guess you just have to realize you did the best that you could raising he and his sister. Some things just take time. I am one of 4 girls, all raised the same way, but my 3 older sisters are all REALLY whacked out. One of them is just now coming around and she'll be 40 this year. Her twin has cut off all contact with the family as has my middle sister. I went really crazy for a time, too, in my late teens-early twenties. But I got my head screwed back on just fine. Married a wonderful man, 3 boys, very active in our church. I say all that to say this- keep in mind that great promise (that comforts me when I think about the lives of my three sons) "Train up a child in the way he should go..." Pergamano and Tarjeteria fall under the umbrella of the art of parchment craft. Parchment craft is done on translucent parchment paper, which many people refer to as vellum. The first step in this craft is tracing an image with white ink on parchment. Then, on the backside of the parchment, emboss the lines of the image. Wherever the image is embossed, the parchment turns a whitish color. Besides the lines of the image, some of the image itself may be embossed for shading and detailing - -- for example, on petals and leaves of flowers. Some patterns may call for parts of the image to be embossed from the front as well. You can add color to your artwork with pastels, Le Plumes or Tombows, and other Pergamano brand inks. Or some pieces which have the look of lace may be left uncolored, except for the white accents achieved through embossing. This art form is known for its lace-like appearance, achieved by punching tools and much time-consuming cutting of the signature "x's". Pergamano is a brand name which belongs to Martha Ospina, who developed a line of tools and accessories to be used in the art of parchment craft. She has published several books as well as kits containing patterns which can be used to make parchment craft cards, boxes, etc. Tarjeteria is the form of parchment craft popular in Puerto Rico. There *are* swaps specifically for technique instructions. I believe that most are for inspiration, which is beyond dry information and copy-able ideas. IMHO, if an e-mail address is on the card, the rest can be requested. There's nothing wrong with including a full description if you're so inclined and the information's available, but all the information isn't always available. I have UM's of unknown origin as well as mounted stamps with no company names. I don't find it necessary to specify when I've used my one Marvy Pen and when I've used my usual set from the 98-cent store. When I get a card that I want/need to know more about *now*, I write a specific question to the maker and usually get an answer. *That's* how I learned about chalks and oil pastels and coated papers (which have been added to my supplies). This is layered on top of some dark green mulberry paper on light green cardstock. Jaimee - White cardstock with corners cut at an angle with a fancy scissor cut, she used miracle tape on the left side and embossed in gold. There is spanish writting on rest of card with a red chili pepper wearing a somboro with sequins. He has the cutest hair & mushtache (?) Donnap (?) - light yellow cardstock cut with fancy scissors 2 x 5 with a vertical line of chili peppers stamped in a red/gold embossing powder. This is centered on a dark green mulberry paper. ( I've used that embossing powder, but it didn't come out as nice as yours!! ) Pat Koss - Light grey cardstock with red corragated paper laid so there was about a 1/4" border of grey showing. At an angle a 2 x 4 fancy cut white cardstock was cut with a red chili pepper. On the corners of the white cardstock, she used gold photo corners. I really liked that technique. Eileen deMars - Dard green cardstock that opened from the middle of the card. She had bright yellow fancy cut outline then placed a dry embossed chili peppers cut out with fancy scissors & tied a rope type bow on front. On the inside was a saying on yellow fancy scissor cut " you are way cool" Sorry if I didn't do your cards justice. I don't describe cards very well. But they were all great!!!!!!!
