Certain acids react chemically to certain substances. If it's not on that acid's list, it doesn't react. Of course, the stuff you etch glass with will also etch your hands, so be real careful. The contact paper WILL survive the etching goop. The reason why I used clear contact paper was that if you use a flat glass, you can put the image on the other side and see through it and cut the stencil. If you have a curved glass, the best way is to put double-sided tape on the glass and put the image onto the tape. If you do use the contact paper, be sure to go over the paper with something to press it down tight to the glass after you've cut in the design. Otherwise, the acid will seep under the stencil and etch where you don't want it. Also, lay the acid on pretty thick. If it goes on thin, it won't etch evenly. Sometimes that can get a cool effect, though. MRK +++++ Mark or Jodi Hansen HansenArt Rubber Stamps http://www.burgoyne.com/pages/hansnart hansnart@burgoyne.com Want some help with your homepage? I bought some picture frames from WalMart, and etched drawings in the glass, then put a solid color cardstock behind it in the frame. Another thing I tried was to etch two layers, one on the front of the glass and one on the back. It gave a nice three-D effect to the piece.
