I hesitantly got on the scales this morning (something I try not to do very often) and I've lost 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks! I can't believe it... My DH has been kind of put out that I've been stamping or reading the list whenever I get the chance, but when I told him what's happening, he's much happier. When I'm stamping or sitting at the computer, I don't snack on stuff...I'm afraid I'll get "stuff" on my projects or keyboard. Even when I have sat down with lunch at the computer, I get so engrossed in reading posts, that my food gets cold and I don't finish it! This is so great! Sorry, Martie, I couldn't find your e-mail address, so please e-mail me!!! She used light green, linen look cardstock with the edges cut with deckled scissors. On the front she glued a piece of white, cut out cardstock, with glitter around the edges. And stamped on it, it says "Gelukkige Paasfees", which is South African for "Happy Easter". On a seperate ppiece of cardstock she stamped and colored an Easter basket, and she glued pieces of real egg shells on the eggs!!! Great effect. She glued it on the card with 3D tape. She also glued 2 (what do you call baby chickens in English??), oh well, you know what I mean. She layered the inside with white paper stamped with Easter eggs. A very elegant card. Thanks so much Martie. Oh, and the envelope was great too, made out of Easter tissuepaper, or napkin. And when I opened it, Easter egg confetti fell out of it!! Real great. Abby has received several more birthday cards and rak's this week, and I am way behind in acknolwedging them! And the bad part, too, is that I may miss a few, since one day she got the mail and her grandma let her open them and I didn't get to see them - so I don't know who to thank. Just be assured that they are all her 'special treasures' that she is keeping in her 'special box' - she has loved every one. But here are some descriptions of ones I did see or at least got the names off of: From Kathy Felix - a couple of great bookmarks, some stickers (perfect for Easter) and then some ep samples, which I've already tried :) THanks, Kathy! From Maralee - a really fun musical card - you press on one area, it plays a song and then has little lights that light up, too! I would love to get directions on how you did this! Thanks Maralee! From Stephanie Geddes - all the way from Saskatoon! An adorable little stuffed bunny and some great playing cards! Stephanie wrote a cute note to Abby from 'Inky' the rubber birthday clown - this is so cute and we really enjoyed this, Stephanie - thanks so much! And then I got to see (barely) two more cards - one from Pam Morrison and one from Becky Simmons - I remember that they were both really cute, but now can't find the descriptions I wrote down, and Abby has hidden her 'special box' so well that I can't find it! But thanks, too, to both of you! If anyone else has sent cards and hasn't seen them acknowledged, please let me know - I've tried to keep up with all of them, so sorry if I've missed yours! I know how hard it can be. When I had to cancel my shopping trip to Wenatchee (90miles away) because my daughter got sick, I dropped out. I don't think some people realize what it can cost some of us to do this - gas, or shipping, either way it can really add up. Looking through the new Stampers' Sampler I see all these cards with perfect layering. How do you do this? When I try it, I can never get the sizes just right, and end up with such messes. I'd really like to know what kind of kits y'all use, who makes it, what is involved...anything you care to tell me (no swearing at me though = } ) Michaels carries an Arthur Grummer (?) kit, and with 50% off tomorrow, now would be a good time to buy. Is this a good one, or should I shop around? For anyone else interested, I'll post a summary of any responses on Saturday. I need your input right away. I am having a problem figuring out how to deal with the swaps of the people who do not want to send a sample for each participant. No matter how I try to figure it out, it doesn't seem to work properly. If someone sends a sample for each, they should expect a sample from each in return, right??? If there are some who send only 5 or 10, there wont be enough of their samples to give to all the people who send one for each (does this make sense??). At the same time if I swap 5 or 10 for them, there will be a lot of samples left over from the ones who sent one for each but did not get swapped for one of their 5 or 10 (this is sooo confusing!LOL). I agree that this is not fair for those who put all the work into making a sample for each. I need help with this right away. Please give me your input on this. I dont want to exclude anyone from swapping, I just need to figure out how to do it. Here are a couple of things that have been suggested to me already: 1. Everyone must send a sample for each participant. (People sending more than one technique page do not have to make samples for them if they dont want to) 2. The people who are making cards should have the choice of making one sample for each or one sample for each of the other "card makers". They would submit color copies of the card sample for the rest of the swappers. What do you think??????? Please email me with your input, as well, if you are making cards for the swap and wont be able to make a sample for everyone. Thanks! I don't own a Kreate-A-Bag yet, but have considered buying one. The last = gift=20 bag I purchased was at a gift shop and the price on it was $5.95. It was = a=20 beautiful angel bag and since my daughter collects angels, I could not = resist. =20 Many of the gift bags I see are in the $4 to $6 range, so the Kreate-A-Bag= =20 doesn't seem all that expensive to me. I do own two sets of the Kreate-A-Lopes and love them. Use them all the = time. Speaking of gift wrap, my younger daughter worked for Babies R Us and a = few=20 months ago, they had a close-out on much of their giftwrap and it was all = 10 cents=20 a roll. I ended up buying 20 rolls, have shared a bunch of it, but = probably still have enough to last me for life. Much of this wrap was = Peter Rabbit which originally had been $6 per roll. Talk about a deal. Marsha >>> "Judy "Dragonhome" Perry" 04/08 6:29 PM >>> It does take time to make the bags, but if you consider the time spent = getting ready, getting into the car, driving to the store, picking out the bags, = paying for them, and coming home, it is much better to make them yourself. PLUS = cheaper! I just got one and have been having a ball with it. What made me buy it? = The time factor! I didn't mind the cost of the bags too much, but the time to go = and get them (expecially when you NEED them NOW) was the biggest reason to get = them. PLUS I buy wrapping paper when it goes on sale after every holiday (I live near a = Walgreens and they discount all the seasonal wrapping paper the day after the = holiday). Just my two cents.
