So pardon me as I send this out one more time in hopes of finding a few more people who want to swap for a good cause. :) Last Fall I sent out a message inviting people who wanted free cushion to mount their ums to trade with me by sending cards for my grandma and aunt (my grandma had lost her husband recently and my aunt was battling breast cancer) in exchange for cushion. I was so delighted by those who responded and sent the most incredible cards - I can't tell you how much joy they brought these two special ladies. Well Spring is here and although my Aunt has successfully completed chemo she was informed recently that she'll have to go through targeted radiation treatment just to make sure that they got all the cancer cells. She was hopeful she could return to work in April and this set back has her feeling alittle blue. My grandma is doing better but Spring also brings back lots of memories of working in the garden with my grandfather and fishing together - their favorite activities. I also now have a friend who is going through a very nasty separation from an abusive husband who also needs support and the hope of a better future. So... I'm hopeful I can enlist some more "angels" to make some cards. In exchange you can choose from among the following that I have to offer: Cushion Magnets Wax seals - I'll make you some and also send instructions - I'm teaching this as part of the Magic Folding Book class that I'm teaching later this month with Rona Chumbook (Paper Crafters editor) at the Letter of Joy conference in Edmonds. I've found an easy way for making and keeping beautiful seals. For those of you that love an "old fashioned" elegant look to your correspondence, you'll love these seals. If you are interested, email me back directly (I'm still unsubscribed - sorry - my communications business, Blue Emu Communications fills my email inbox to overflowing so I had to give up the list for awhile), tell me what you are most interested in and I'll send you instructions on what to send me. Robin's "endorsement" of the cushion follows my signature line in case you are curious about that. Take care! And thanks again to all the wonderful people who participated in the swap last Fall. Kat Miller millerk@eskimo.com Here is the "story of the cushion" - you fellow recycling nuts will love it. :) I have an offer for FREE CUSHION that those of you who mount your own ums may be interested in. My company went through a major downsizing here in Seattle this year - moving all corporate functions, including my job in marketing, to Virginia. So as of 12/1 I've been on severance. In the process of cleaning out our downtown offices much that could not be recycled or would not be of use to the organization in Virginia was tossed away. Like many of you I'm a recycling nut and when I saw that boxes of mouse pads were about to be thrown away (they were used to promote products or services we no longer offer) I asked to take them home - hopeful that I could find some use for them besides sitting in a landfill for the rest of my life. Turns out these mousepads make great cushion when you remove the top - I sent samples to Robin "Ma Vinci" and here is her endorsement and instructions how to use them: "These mouse pads are FABULOUS!!!!! I can't believe how great they are! I want them ALL, ALL, ALL!!! Only kidding...I do want a LOT though! Take a look at them for yourself, too, not that you're going to be mounting stuff on your own! The smaller one, the one called the photo pad, that stiff photo part peels right away and leaves a sticky backed cushion -- PERFECT!! I LOVE this!! I'll take ten trillion of them... :o) The other one is also wonderful. If you work at it just a little, and peel it carefully, the fabric top peels away on it as well. It's not left with any sticky stuff, but it's perfect for use with rubber cement. I swear, I don't know how many of these you actually have, but I want a TON of it!! I'll pay shipping, of course!! These are WAAAAYYYYY cool! Perfect squishiness (is this a word?), perfect thickness. I LOVE these!!" Well there you have it from a talented lady who knows what she is talking about. Hope some more of you will take me up on my offer - let's use this stuff and keep it out of landfills! Then go to Edit at the top of the screen. Select Copy from the drop down menu. This will copy the info which you now want to put into a notepad. Click on Start at bottom of screen. Select Run from pop up menu. Type NOTEPAD in space provided. This will open a notepad. Click on Edit at the top of the Notepad (not the top of your screen!). Select Paste from the drop down menu. The part of the message you copied should magically appear! You can now do one of two things. 1. Print - By going to File on the notepad and selecting print from the drop down menu. 2. Save - By going to File on the notepad and selecting Save As from the drop down menu and then naming the notepad. I have a notepad for stories, one for vendors, one for tips and techniques, one for swaps, etc. The only thing you have to remember when saving notepads is that they do take up memory on your computer. So if you are using them a lot, print them out once a week and delete them and start over to keep from slowing your computer up. There may be an easier way to do what you requested, but as a newbie myself, I'm not aware of it yet! Good luck and let me know if you have any problems. I'm hoping that by the time you read this you have them already. I don't have mine back, but I usually get mine last! Since we live so close to each other, she drops them off, but she doesn't usually get around to that til after the rest are mailed. I'll try to contact her before we get really busy with Easter and family. If I get a specific answer from her by this afternoon, I'll let you know. Otherwise if will be Monday before I can post again. I already have my April recipes close to done, so I should be on time for that one!! I will post the details to the list again, but not likely before Monday. She's a friend of mine I met on aol. I was in a chat room talking with some old slammie friends of mine who had just gotten aol and they decided that Rosey and I would be good friends and so they introduced us and they were right, we have become great friends! Rosey's had a difficult life and she's in her Grandma years and life has never been better for her right now! Her husband of many years ran off with another woman 2 or 3 years ago and it was the lowest part of her life. Then, less than a year ago she met her future husband in an aol chat room. It's actually a very neat story, and it's on one of Rosey's www sites, along with pictures, and you can read about their love story at: www.goecities.com/Heartland/Acres/5494/index.html Rosey loves rubberstamps and her favorite RS company is Stamps Happen. She also loves dragon and may just own every dragon stamp on the planet! She's very nice, kind, generous, does ALL of my www pages for me and doesn't expect anything in return!!!! Our first meeting was at a very fitting place. The huge Rubberstampede warehouse sale they have annually, and then we drove to the Stampers Warehouse, (I should mention it took us about 2 hours to find this place coz I'm such a doofus!!!) Then she came over here last Friday and Sat and we spent those 2 days together having fun, doing stuff, running around and stamping and talking. I love her and I think you all will, too. So, let's give a great big welcome to my new friend Rosey! *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Stargazer -stargazser@juno.com HOME PAGE http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6456/ for RS card samples: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6456 for Star Trek: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6457/ for ST TOS: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Labyrinth/7536/ _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. From Stampin Max I got a Kokopelli magnet. It looks to be stamped in paperclay with a turquoise ep and has tiny feathers on the bottom. It is cut in a diamond shape and mounted on navy card stock that is embossed in a neat silver design-I wont bring it to the computter to describe itbetter as it does have a magnet on it:), but it is lovely. From Flingamapoof - a very cute pin, I believe it is on paperclay also. It has a white pearly finish to it, the shape is cut with deccorative scissors and a pretty lady done in colored pencils on a paisley background and on the bottom she has punched holes and run a wire accross thet has been curled and has two red beads and a heart strung on it . thank you it is very cute:) Artist unknown- On tan clay- I believe polymer- the cut bearw/ head restingon hand, his little bow is red and his nose is golden and a glaze is over the top. I like him very much and it has given me ideas as I too have that stamp. From Auntpam- This is adorable-on paperclay?- a little bee hive with tall flowers in the background and tiny little bees. all colored in it looks like with markers as it is much more vivid than with colored pencils and a glaze over the top. I really like the stamp, where did you get it???I like it verry much, it is so cute:) From Brenda Volpe- A D shaped pin of the sun ...looks very Inka, covered in gold and antiqued in a creamy colored pearl stuff and hanging on the bottom a tiny blue bead (hand made?) Very Pretty! Thank you:) Oh yes, from my Hostess Ellie- a cute UM of a dolphin. I can't wait to use him:) and some magnets to use on my items. Oh, how wonderful. Thank you! This was great fun. == Naughty Newbie Seeks Rubberstanding -------- }INK ME{ @@@@@@@@ _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
