I've been sitting on my response to this thread because I know it'll be a downer, but folks need to know. Our company makes art stamps, but most of our work comes from banks, financial institutions and others who trust us with proprietary information. We shred documents all the time and take efforts to keep any of this data from leaving the building but we are not the Defense Department. Slip-ups could occur. We are bonded and insured. This is serious business. If someone is found rummaging through our trash, we will assume it is for the purpose of stealing data and will prosecute to the full extent of the law. And once we are done pressing criminal charges, we will file for civil damages as well. Saying you are looking for cast off art stamps won't wash. Now, as I said, this isn't a fun post and I know it was a fun thread but don't take the original poster's suggestion too literally. Enjoy yourself, look for bargains and deals and certainly, come visit when you're in the area. If you want samples of our work, walk inside and ask if we have seconds. All manufacturers do. The brand name is 'Great White'. The back has something on it that makes ink stick and not smear. I stamped the butterfly. I usually fill the sheet full. Next spread rubber cement on the stamped side. Apply a RICE PAPER NAPKIN (this is the real beauty of the butterflies) face down on the cement. Rub with your finger to seal. I let this set about 1/2 an hour. Take white glue and spread an even thin layer on top of the napkin. I now sprinkle prisma glitter over all the white glue. Let this set till dry. Cut out the butterflies. The bodies I made out of paper-clay, sculpty(sp)III or Fimo whatever I have on hand. Air dry or bake. I used thin floral wire for the antenna and some I glittered, pearl ex'd or colored with a marker. Use a bonding cement to apply the body to the butterfly. I just love them! These are the pins I'm taking to the Vegas convention. This message was from "Joy (aka luv2stmp)" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
