Nana Bev the Rubber Hugger and Keeper of the Crystal Ball Altamonte Springs, FL blmarubbio@email.msn.com >> Bev, Maybe this "Revolt" you're talking about wasn't started by Jessica. I have never suggested it was a revolt. I must have missed something. But, if you're suggesting that by replying to your post as "hitting one of MY nerves", then you're right, you did. Not because I was attacking Jessica. I haven't done that, I never WOULD do that. She has done nothing to me, and I doubt that the nice girl ever would. From all the posts I have ever read of hers, I do not believe that is her style. The 'nerve you hit' is because you imply I stand with people who want a fight. I don't believe this is so. I think these people, who have publicly commented on being afraid to continue this swap; therefore have dropped out, are within their rights to make a public statement to that effect and state why. For you to insinuate that they would be looking for a fight or they would drop it is wrong. What that inplies to me, is that someone is itching for someone to respond to this issue just one more time, so that they can be FLAMED or Blind-sided, or whatever. Now, I would think someone with a Crystal Ball would be able to see that No One on this list lasts long if they are trying to cause trouble.I would think someone with a Crystal Ball would be able to see that letying EVERYONE share his or her opinion---even if you disagree with it---is only the right thing to do. WYOMING-by cyndi deaton. she started with dark green cardstock and embossed "wyoming" in the bottom right corner. a band of dusty rose cardstock cut with deckle scissors layered on copper glitter makes a center stripe wide enough to hold a mountain range. layered on top of that is strands of raffia and a great image of a howling wolf. great card. BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA-by kimberlee dick. the front is the image of a dogwood branch embossed in copper on navy cardstock. the right edge of the card is scalloped so that a band of copper is seen thru to the inside of the card. the inside left of the card contains a nice image of british columbia, the canadian flag, the bc flag, and the information that the dogwood is the provincial flower. very cool. you have to love those dogwoods!! (maybe we should do another swap with just our state or area flowers?!!) IOWA- by mary sieker. i love this card!! she started with kelly green cardstock and lightly printed cornstalks in green ink all over the front-- they are barely noticeable--very nice effect. then layered a map of the US in white and colored iowa in yellow. raised and layered on top of that is a copy (?) of a .32 iowa stamp of a farmhouse and fields. she finished it off with a yellow raffia bow on the right top of the card. (mary, great minds must think alike--i had to use all of my will power NOT to buy the map stamp and use it on my collage!! lol :-). AND on the back she has a way cool stamp of "honey, i stamped the kids! MISSISSIPPI-by marge michau. a yellow cardstock is cut with deckle scissors and layered on a light grey background. on the yellow paper is a stamp of mississippi with the state and inside, "hi y'all from mississippi!" around that is stamped several images of dolphins, crabs, leaves, magnolia blossoms , and frogs in a really cool pinkish to green pastel tone pad and embossed. the effect of this pad is nice. (marge, what kind is it??) i wish i had another couple of hours to go on and on about others--there are so many great cards. the one from london is spectacular!! she used a real coin AND a foil coin in that collage--the british phone booth was also very cool! fran's card of france is wonderful as usual and michigan is great. thank you again to everyone involved. this has been a great experience!! kim This message was from FurMaid - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. An isocline map was mounted on grey cardstock and stamped with hikers and "tall trees". A postoid "The Stamper's State" is applied over the corner of the map and into the margin. The oft-heard "I love California. It's the crowds that piss me off!" graces the other upper corner. I've only been here three years, so I guess I'm probably part of "the crowds". :-) Colorado by Chris Hulseberg inspired an instant "Ooooh! Columbines!" before the card was opened. They're a favorite of mine (along with honeysuckle) and Chis did wonderful watercolor technique, lively and real, not artificially contrained by the stamped lines. Iowa was by Mary Sieker and was done in commercial corn colors of yellow, white & green. The folded card of bright green stock was stamped with darker green cornstalks, over this an outline map of the "old 48" was applied, with Iowa colored in yellow. There's a matted reproduction of an Iowa-theme (vast acreage of farmland) US postage stamp applied over the SW. A wee yellow ribbon bow in the upper green background brings 19-th century pioneer folk songs to mind. Virginia by Sue Hart shows a winding road and gentle hillsides with a border of miniature leaf-prints in autumn-changed hues. Images inside include steeper mountains, a seashore lighthouse with fetti dolphin cavorting nearby and an exceedingly formal wedding couple (guy has striped pants and "tails"). The caption which continues from the front of the card to inside is "Virginia Is For ... Lovers." And I was asked to list other favorites and realized that my eyes may have been captivated by personally-favored color combinations: Fran & Cindy's EGYPT in red and black on golden astroparch (or similar), a laminated bookmark. Fran & Cindy's KENYA, a black and white zebra imposed over the black & red stripes (with white fimbriation) of Kenya's national flag. Mona Everett (Cowpost) for JAPAN used a Curtis Uyeda tree with monkey and peacock and it sure looks like a rabbit too, stamped on black paper and heat-embossed with gold. The image was trimmed and applied to red, and the red trimmed and applied to a scallop-corned gold-tone panel mounted on a folded white card. This is all in portrait format. I spoke with the owner of this company and was informed that to guarantee CHRISTMAS delivery she would need orders by August 1st. She is also closed on and off throughout the summer. She custom makes these stamps to order, she carries virtually no stock - hence quite a wait to get the merchandise. All I can say is, they are worth it! So, just thought I would pass this on, in case anyone needs any of these images for the holidays (and we're not even to 4th of July yet!) You could make a banner for the wall; you could pin them on a "convention" vest, you could put them on a hat. The last one shows the Girl Scout in me. We wear hats to camp and pin all our swaps on them. Kathy McDonald - I got some velvet to stamp on but it didn't have enough "knap" (sp?) to hold the image. I decided to put my pins on that. I have my computer standing upright on my desk so I hung it up with velcro (actually, I have a paperweight holding it down now but I plan on putting it on with velcro. Much prettier to look at than my computer. Debbie of Rubber Stamp Rampage has a sheet absolutely covered in convention pins. She used to have it hanging on one wall of her store. I've also seen people put them on a baseball hat that they wear to conventions. Francine Ferrara - I always take the pins off the back (and recycle them) and then put magnet strips on them instead. I have two metal filing cabinets in my stamp room and I cover them with the convention pins. But I would love to know what everyone else does with them. :-) "Roger & Anne" - I took the pins off mine and replaced them with magnets--now they are on the fridge. That's what I did with my favorites. I suppose you could take the pins off and put them in a photo album type thing. Meridee! Weilert - Pull off the backs (to be reused on pins you make yourself) and attach magnets to the back. Your 'frig has never been happier than when decorated with rubberstamped art! Rustamping - (Kathie) - I put them on the living room curtains Paula Jo Green - In our old house, I had my pins on the curtains and a wall hanging in my stamp room. Now though, I share space with my hubby in our new house and don't have the room to have a pin wall hanging. So I am putting them together in a binder. I am taking the pin backs off (recycling those) and am placing the pins onto cardstock with the name & addy of the pin-maker written underneath. I have the pins separated by convention. My son, Joseph, still has all of his pins from Carson on his vest. He wants me to do a convention pin scrapbook for him too. Lynette Rhymes - I made a really neat display for my lifelong collection of buttons (concert, campaign, Movie, etc.) I took a piece of polyester felt about half a door length, about 3 1/2' long. I also used a wooden dowel and a piece of string. I put a slit on each end of the dowel, enough so the string will slide through it. I folded the felt over about an inch and glued it down, just as long as the dowel will slid through the fold. After the glue dries slid the dowel through, and cut about 2 feet of string and fit it in the dowel slits and tie a knot in each end so it does'nt slide through. You can make it as large/small, fancy or decorate anyway you like. I cut mine with some pinking shears to get a fancy edge, you could also use fabric paint and make designs. Mine is completly full now I should have made it longer. I have it hanging over a bedroom door on the outside of it and it still closes. I just put a small nail on the inside of the door and loop the string over it. I hope you can understand my directions, I've been intending to do another one of these for my convention pins. Kelly - I took a long ribbon and pinned them to it. I have it hanging along with all of my other cards and RS received goodies! They're all on display proudly in my little room! Angie Rhen - My mother has a Cork board (bulletin board) above her work desk and she takes the pin and sticks it into the board. Feathers - I love them as magnets too, especially since I have a huge dress pattern filing cabinet next to my worktable and can admire the pinart so much more easily there than if I pinned them to fabric and tried to find some little unoccupied spot on the wall to hang it. I do enjoy wearing special ones on occasion. They always get comments and I love how people stop and read the silly ones and smile. But like I said, I only wear special ones occasionally - - you see I have this nasty habit of forgetting to remove them before laundering. And though the ones that *have* been washed seem to have come thru just fine, it would really sadden me to lose a favorite. Stampin'@Midnite (Cathy) - At Christmas time, I bought an artifical tree and put the convention pins on the tree with lacy ribbon. In the living room was the real tree. I couldn't wait to show everyone the tree with the pins. My friend puts her pins around on a picture frame. It looks good. Jody Morrison- I bought those thingies called, I think, stick ups. They are plastic "clips" that stick on the wall... I put them up and hung my pins on them.. The pins go up a doorway and across the top... Looks cool! Thanks to all of you!
