Wondering if anyone has sent/received items to/from: Rush - 2 Girard Street - Norwalk CT 06850 I sent 9 postcards and $3.00 to this person November 14, 1996. The deadline for the swap was November. If you don't have a few minutes you may want to delete now. Since catalogs are the topic of the week, I thought I'd share this with you. I received a letter from Agi Werner today. She is the owner of Paper Parachute. Her catalog has got to be the best there is. She has wonderful designs too, but it is worth every penny and more for her catalog. I ordered her new catalog at the Portland Convention in September and was told that the new catalog was changing it's size to a 8 1/2 X 11 format. Those of you, who have never seen her catalog, each one is prepared by hand. The last one I got was the half sheet size with 146 pages. It is bound with glossy black card stock. On the front she has made a "bag" with three different hologram sticker paper and has used four of her images on the front of the "bag". She made a handle out of gold cording and had irredescent cellophane (sorry, spelling isn't too good tonight!), shreds of gold foil and another piece of the hologram sticker paper in fushia and her star image on the multi color hologram sticker paper. I can't do it justice verbally, but again it is worth the cost in materials alone for the front cover. Now, all that said and done and if I have anyones attention still, I have a request. Agi sent me this letter apologizing for having to wait so long for the new catalog. You see, it was supposed to be out late September, I got a card from her in Oct/Nov saying that it had been delayed. Here it is February. I have to tell you this lady is a class act that would be very difficult to follow. Since September she had been suffering many personal difficulties. To quote one paragraph: "We've had some rough going for a while on the personal side, including a critically ill family member who passed away a short time ago. Then, another family member was hospitalized, and more recently one of our own children has been quite ill. As if this was not enough we had a construction deal, which would have provided more space for Paper Parachute to quickly process your orders, fall through after seven months of working on the project." What I would like to propose is that if you can, send them a card of encouragement. I know it would mean so much to her to hear from stampers that they care. I also know that there has been a lot of talk about slow vendors and such. In light of everything that has happened to Agi, and her getting back to us, I can only hope that some of the other companies would follow suit. And yes, three months is a long time to wait, let alone five. But, Agi has sent everyone their checks back and plans on still sending the next catalog out. If you want to order a catalog, I would recommend sending it in April, the expected new date. I wouldn't want to be the responsible for flooding her with orders all at once but a kind card I know will be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking your valuable time to read this. If you do want to send her a card please send it to: Agi Werner Paper Parachute P.O.Box 91385 Portland Or 97291-0385 BTW - the catalog is $3.95. Jodi ------------------------------ From: ConraderP@aol.com Date: Tue, 11 Feb 1997 02:50:01 -0500 (EST) Subject: TAN: Long - Dallas Convention & More Wow, what a month. I am telling you, Jan. was a bust, but Feb. is awesome. The month started out at the convention. Fun! Fun! Fun! I got home and started reading more about it on the list. It seems as though everyone else had fun too. I must clarify. The van ride to HELL wasn't that bad, although, I must admit that the detour we made into the bowels of Dallas was a little close. Whenever you see a rottewieler (sp?) chasing after an innocent walker, you know you must be getting close (even if the dog was on a chain) to the gates of fire. Alas, you must experience a little hell before you get to heaven. Heaven being the paper store or the wine coolers in the hotel room (pick one). StampInRed, Karen P (the one who resides in the cyber wasteland without a modem), and Stampalot Sue (who happened to forget us in her post; we were just a bed to sleep in and a ride [I feel used]) made for some prime entertainment over the weekend. I had the opportunity to meet several people on the list (you know who you are [I hope]). Everyone was so kind and most everyone had a great sense of humor. Speaking of humor, my month is moving on. I attended some of Suze "Move Over Martha Stewart" Weinburg's classes. I took class #3 and class #4 and learned some new techniques. The classes alone were stimulating enough, but add CC and GeeVee and you get a jolt. I laughed so much that I had to wipe the mascara out from under my eyes. Suze teaches a great class; fun and informative. My only let down was that it was strictly a demo class and not a make and take. The techniques were way cool. Put it this way, if you could apply the stamping techniques to the bedroom, you would have an I.O. (I learned that abrv. from GeeVee.) I took some video footage. If I can talk the hubby into it, I will have him turn it into a Quicktime video for your viewing pleasure. By the way, the video is of the class and not bedroom footage. Between the Judi-Kins demo at the DF conv. and Suze's classes, I feel like a new stamper. My mind is still swirling and I don't know if I want it to stop. I am off to enjoy the rest of my month.
