"X" is the Greek symbol for the letter "chi" which is the first letter of Christ's name. Also, the symbol "X" is reminiscent of the cross upon which Christ was crucified. When I went to Catholic school, the priests sometimes wore a narrow shawl-type thing that had an "X" inside of a circle embroidered on them. They were part of the vestments that the priests wore for various ceremonies such as mass, benediction, etc. Anyway, they were made out of beautiful fabrics, such as silk or satin and embroidered in beautiful colored threads. I was told that it was a symbol that meant "Christ over the world." So, for Catholics at least, the symbol "X" was used with the utmost respect for Christ. twINK _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I'll do my best to adequately describe them. LunaC888@aol.com It has big splotches of pastel colors all over it, then it's maybe embossed? Then it has big gold swirls embossed diagonally across it. I love this paper!! Sandy Lane I liked this paper. It's different and I can see that there would be all kinds of different color combinations to try. Sandy made this paper using 4 or 5 colors of acrylic paint (diluted) and a fan brush. Then she applied diluted white acrylic paint over the other colors while they were still wet, and again used the fan brush. Very inventive. Mona Everett Mona made a really striking background paper, using black glossy cardstock, and a sea sponge to apply copper and green Marvy metalic markers. I'm going to try this tonight! Lori Croswell Lori filled a balloon with rubber scraps and used combinations of ink, marvy & Zig waterbased markers on white glossy cardstock. I love the way the colors look together! This looks like it could be addictive. Nice job! Barb MacFarland Barb used a tissue paper pom-pom, and it says she "wetted, slapped, streaked, smooshed and rolled. Very Cool! Dorism6220@aol.com She sent in light pink bubble paper. Very pretty. Madelyn Turner She made a really pretty paper with all different pastel colors. I would really like to know how you did this Madelyn. I like it! Sally Kennedy Sally made a pretty pastel paper with some light colored sparkles on it. How did you make this? Very nice! Elaine Fellows I received two papers from Elaine. One is pretty colors brayed on glossy cardstock and the other is lavender paper with purple stripes on it. How did you do this and keep the lines so straight? Debbie Poole Debbie made a simple but very pleasing paper. She used purple cardstock and a spiral stamp with black ink. She stamped all over the paper, without reinking everytime. Very neat! Anonymous I received three papers without anyone's name on them. One has got lime green checkers sponged on it. One has different shades of pink sponged on it. The last one I wish I knew who did it so I could find out how they did it. It's white glossy cardstock with pink, magenta, purple, blue and aqua and they are kind of lines of dots. How did you do that? Come on now, and fess up as to who you are and how you made this. Please? Kari, Thanks so much for thinking of this and hosting it! It was a great swap! Now I see why it would be a good idea to write on the back, how you do your papers.
