I received my very first SSS package, since I am a newbie on the list. My SSS is very, very generous and I thank her from the bottom of my heart. I received all kinds of wonderful things and everything was so nicely wrapped in tissue paper (which I will graciously recycle into some kind of stamping project.). - -The first thing I opened was a package with 4 different colors of mulberry paper--I don't have any of these yet--WOW! - -Then I opened a package with a book full of ideas to make stamping and paper projects--it's called "Card Crafting". It has some GREAT ideas too & I can't wait to try. - -The next package contained a LOT of great stuff--2 different pigment ink pads, 2 different colors of glitter glue, the little classic RS initial "M", some paper clay, "Sadie" and "Ben" Bear stamps from PSX, alphabet & number stamps set from All Night Media, a package of pin backs, and 3 wonderful paper clay pins--one of a strawberry, one of a flower, and one of a heart (which already adorns my spring jacket). THANKS, I LOVE PINS! (I forgot to mention that this package was all in a plastic flip top box which will help me to keep all of my RS supplies organized.) - -The last package that I opened was just too unbelievable for words. My SSS sent me a paper crimper. WOW doesn't even express my feelings. I was speechless. It is something that I have wanted since I tried it once at a stamp camp I went to. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SSS. You really are wonderful. I also received 2 great RAKs today. - -I received one of Joys beautiful butterflies, though the body was half missing due to the PO mutilation. I will try to fix it or at least give it a paper body so that it looks right. - -I received from Linda Israel a lovely teapot with tea bag inside and a cup of kindness stamped on the front. How did you know that I am a tea drinker, AND I love Mary Engelbreit? You must have ESP!! Thanks to everyone for filling my mailbox today. You all make my spirits rise. I got a lot of responses to my post about these! So I will tell you all what I know. These stamps are only available woodmounted (to my knowledge--altho', LE does sell other stamps UM, so I may be wrong (it's happened once before !). They are large (the rubber is about 6 x 3 inches and blocks are, of course, bigger). Each block has 2 stamps on it--one on the top and one on the bottom. One stamp is the book "cover" and comes in several designs--I bought hearts, rosebuds, blank, and a quilted pattern. The flip side of each block is to make the "pages" and are also in different designs (the same design is on the same "cover" block all the time--no mixing, matching, unless you get more than one stamp). The ones I bought are blank page, a oval photo page, and square photo page and a heart photo page. There was also one with a beehive cover and one page with lines to write on--can't remember the others. I think they were $17.00 each retail. What you do, is stamp the cover once on either plain or decorated paper (depending on the design of the cover) and stamp the pages 3-8 times on plain or decorated paper. (This gives you a front and back cover, small spine and 6-16 pages. If you want to cut photo windows to slip photos behind, use an exacto knife and cut along the lines. You can color in the designs if you want or if you have a blank book stamp, decorate the covers and pages however. Then you cut 2 squares of cardstock for the covers, cover these with the cover paper. Glue the pictures behind the photo windows, then glue the pages together back to back and glue the entire signature onto the cover. Some of the covers have a space to stamp or write a title, such as "Our Wedding, Travel journal, Look who's here, etc". I made one this morning--very quick and easy project (They also come with complete written directions that are a LOT better than these are! ) I added a ribbon before gluing the pages in so it would tie shut. Because these are very tiny books, I took color photos to the copy shop and reduced them to 65% so the people's faces would fit in the windows. I used 6 photos from my niece's baptism and it turned out really cute. You could write and illustrate a story or poem or letter, use as a card/gift item, a thank you, so many things! I know you can make the same thing yourself without too much more work, but these are so handy for a quick something! GeeVee sells Limited Edition on the list here, so maybe you can get them from her--I don't know--not affiliated or anything! Don't know who else sells them here. I thought it would be fun to do a swap using these stamps to see all the different ideas people come up with! Email me if interested in swapping/hosting. Hello fellow stampers, I just heard back from Wendy at Appalachian Arts. We can all see Christine's wonderful poem stamped in rubber at AA's website. This is the URL for the page that show's C's stamp on an unmounted plate: http://www.stampcity.com/aas/plate113.htm Individually, it is Item #11321E. Mounted for $6.95, um for $3.35, or the entire plate for $25. If you're like me, you'll want to cruise around and look at the other very cool stamps on this site. But I gotta dash now and order my poem stamp! Congratulations, Christine! Best, C. Our best friends' last names were O'Sullivan and Michael. We went out to eat and we put the reservation under "Michael". They kept calling for the "Mitchells" until we realized that it was us! The next time we went there, we put the reservation under O'Sullivan. Also, pretty easy to pronounce. This time they called us OS-la-van. The NEXT time we went there, we tried Donovan. We got Due-NO-van. The NEXT time we went we decided to be the Brady's. They got THAT one right!!! I still laugh about that! Kate Hill aka Iris "The more things change, the more they stay insane."
