All so different. From Sandy Lane: Sandy beautifully colored a mola of catus which I think is by CoMotion. She mounted this diamond shaped image on pale green cardstock and then stamped the word "ouch" around the edges. Too funny! Nice bright card. From Robin Cramer (our hostess): My favorite cactus couple, the Saguaros from VLVS, mounted on a pink heart with roses. This would make a great Valentine. From ?: A small desert scene carefully colored and monted to beige cardstock with torn paper behind. From E. Lynne O'Donnell: A really neat tent card. It has an intricate window cut in the front through which you can see prickly pear blooming. The front is the inside of a room with wallpaper drawn and boots and a cowboy hat on the floor. I love to do Western cards and this goes straight into the great idea file. Oh, I forgot to say that the top of the tent card is not glued shut, it is sewn with natural twine and tied...looks like rope. From Mark Hansen: A foamcore sculpture of an Indian-design howling coyote and saguaro. Both the stamps are by HansenArt. This was different. I enjoyed it because I am terrible with an exacto so I appreciated the effort involved. From Sue Bentley: Finally I own one of those Somerset little shrink art books!! This is really cute...a teeny, tiny book with cactus on the cover. Sue held it together with coiled wire to which she added a few small seed beads. Really a work of art. I love cactus. My husband and I collect them. I wouldn't have missed this swap, but I was so pleased with how it came out...beyond my expectations. Will put these up for stamp club to see tonight. I was having problems with my cards. If you rec'd one of mine, will you let me know if the EP flaked off. When this has happened for me, I've done a couple of things: One, you can use a Q-tip to take the ink back off the stamp in those spots where the ink gets, and two, I've been known to just run an Xacto knife around the images on the stamp, and completely peel off the excess rubber, which helps immensely! (And if you ever have a big stamp with excess rubber around the outside that prints, peel the die off the cushion, trim it off, and put it back on the mount.) I also trim the insides out of large circular stamps before I ever use them, because that dead space will ALWAYS print extra ink. Kaye- I have pondered this very issue myself, many times. I have hosted many "bastard" swaps (they were not official to the best of my knowledge- illegal or the "b" word) They were well subscribed to and much fun. So I guess you just add the word- OFFICIAL- when you get what you feel is enough response to go through with it, and this must tell everyone interested to go on and make those cards. IMHO- Diana >I have not participated in any swaps on this board, and see references to >"OFFICIAL ____SWAP". What makes a swap "Official"? Just another idol thought clanging around in my noisy head. Thanks, Kaye >> A swap becomes OFFICIAL when there are enough players to complete the swap. In a 5 for 5 swap, that would mean 5 players + the hostess. In a 10 for 10, it would be 10 players + the hostess. In my unmounted swap, it could have been the minute I got my first signup... since I could still do the trade with just her and me (I have 15 people now trading!!!). - -Fran the Frantic Stamper :-@ http://www.angelfire.com/biz/franticstamp This message was from FranRShaw - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. You all are being incredibly helpful, thanks much! I'm the daughter of JJ in Montana. I'm a college student and for my Cultural Anthropolgy class I'm doing a study of a cultural group. The group I have chosen are you, the subscribers of the stamper list. I've been observing the list for the past 2 months and I'm interested to know some of the history, the purpose, the rules, and what kind of people subscribe to the stamper list. Any information will be helpful in my study of this diverse group of artsy people. Thank you for your help! Thank you to all who have responded with helpful information about the list! Also, thanks for the suggestions that I create a questionare to help in my study of the members of this list. Some things I would like to know are: How long have you been a member of this list? Why did you join the list? What do you like/dislike about the list? How long have you been a stamper? What is your present station (position, place, ect.) in life? How did you find out about the list And... anything else you think might be helpful. From Stampnrn: Backview of a cow looking at a Wisconsin farm scene. Message inside says, "Just another Cheesehead". Great card. Need to know what you did to get the cow's texture. Is that Puff EP? Also, what stamp company makes the little wood cross pieces at the top of your card? Those are neat. (I escaped to Lake Geneva every chance I got!!!) From Robin Cramer (our hostesss): A collage of Arizona featuring Route 66 road signs. From Glittergirl: A collage of activities you can do in Maine. From Lisa Mallette: A soft pastel Florida beach scene. From Tina: A real postcard of the Oregon coast with a little girl outfitted for a day at the beach added with pop-dots. From Angela Costello: A collage of Hawaiian stamps on the front of a card accented with real sand. Closest I've ever been to the beaches of Hawaii!! Angela also made her envelope which included some great palm tree confetti. A fun card. Thanks to Robin for hostessing.
