That is why I am just now letting you know that I DID receive your beautiful card. I hope that you will email me and let me know how in the world you did this card. The card itself is like a pearly looking color (really soft, smooth feeling) on the outside and flat white on the inside. The card was cut with fancy scissors and the inside is matted with pink cs also cut with fancy scissors. There is a thin stip of mulberry colored cs down the "binding" side of the card cut with fancy scissors. There is a black oval shape cut with fancy scissors that is layered under the "stamp" ?!?! Then there is a glob of mulberry colored "?" (don't know what it is) with an "M" stamped into it. (this is so cool - I need to know what this is and how to do this ). I don't even know how to describe the "stamp". It's a pot with flowers in it and it looks like the stamp itself is raised off of the page and then then colored in in all the "holes" I know I'm botching this description up big time but it is beautiful. And the raised part is stamped in some some kind of shiney, multi-colored stuff. Martie - why don't you tell us how this was done :) I apologize for my terrible description. The card really is beautiful. Thanks SO much, Jenn This message was from SwapPals - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I just wanted to pass on a bit of kindness that isn't seen very often. I visited my sister in PA last Feb. and while there I stopped in two stamp stores. One in Camp Hill and one in York. I wrote an article on those visits and posted it to Delphi rubberstamping forum. I really enjoyed myself at the York store. This was my first visit to PA so my sis took me to Stamp-Ede in York. She had never been introduced to stamping until then. This was on a Saturday when the store was overflowing with customers and class attendees. The owner, Janie klimchock, was the nicest, friendliest person I had ever met. Even though she was very busy, she took the time to show me around her store and try to help me locate a stamp of a sample card she had on her wall. She didn't have the stamp in stock and took my name and number and said when she got it in she would call me. She also put our names on her mailing list for her news letter. Well, I had forgotten about the stamp and to my surprise it arrived in the mail a couple of days ago along with a very sweet note. She wrote, "Your article on the internet was so kind! We are so complemented with your excitement about our store. We're still growing--and will be moving down the road at the end of May. Our store will be 3 times larger. We're really excited. Enclosed is that verse you liked that we didn't have in stock. Remember the card on the wall? I'd like you to have it as thank you for such a nice report on our store. If you are home here, please stop in again. Tell your sister Dee Dee to come by sometime. I'll give her a private lesson! Take care and thank you again for your kindness." Love, Janie. In the wake of recent concern over vendors and stores, this just reiterates that there are vendors and retail store owners that still care about their customers and still take the time to personally correspond with them. Thank you Janie.... and thanks to all who read this and find it uplifting. So don't buy what you don't need. (I needed to buy all but the water, since my tube pan went on vacation to the south of France and escaped from the dishwasher and didn't even leave me a forwarding address) Dump all that in the mixing bowl. Oh yeah, buy a mixer if you need one. Buy an oven if you need one, too, because you want to turn yours on now to about 350 degrees. Don't put in the egg shells. Save those to make cascarones. Save the cake box and pudding box to make paper. But dump in the contents. Then mix all that up real good, probably about four minutes, with your mixer set about at the medium speed and scraping the bowl as you go. Butter and flour the pan (or else spray it with that Bakers Joy stuff). And I know, I didn't tell you to go buy this, you've got to take some responsibility on your own self, ya know? Dump almost all of the cake batter into the pan. NOT all of it!!! Just until the pan is about 2/3 full. Put the pan in the oven now and set the timer for 30 minutes. Now eat the rest of the batter with a spoon. By the time you're finished licking the bowl, it's time to check the cake. It will look really moist on the top so you can't tell by looking, you gotta stick something in it to see if it's done or not. It won't be done in 30 minutes but it will be close, so guess from there. This is the best cake ever in the world. It started out as a failed recipe (okay, so I didn't read the instructions right) but was so good I kept making it and jacking with the amount of each ingredient until I got it perfect. Yeah, so I made (and ate) six chocolate cakes in the space of three weeks... all in the name of science, of course. But now it's perfect and I give it to you, my friends, just because you need chocolate. So go make this cake, then report back how good it is. ========================================================================= Janet Detter Margul | Real women don't have hot flashes... A man comes in and asks him, "Hey, why are you sitting here on this beautiful day getting drunk?" Farmer: Some things you just can't explain. Man: So what happened that's so horrible? Farmer: Well, today I was sitting by my cow milking her. Just as I got the bucket about full, she took her left leg and kicked over the bucket. Man: Ok, but that's not so bad. Farmer: Some things you just can't explain. Man: So what happened then? Farmer: I took her left leg and tied it to the post on the left. Man: and then? Farmer: Well, I sat back down and continued to milk her. Just as I got the bucket about full, she took her right leg and kicked over the bucket. Man: Again? Farmer: Some things you just can't explain. Man: So, what did you do then? Farmer: I took her right leg this time and tied it to the post on the right - - ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Apr 1998 15:09:43 EDT From: KrZ4Stamps Subject: RS: Orders Rcvd from Staci and Shaunna Great mail day!! Kathie >> Being a "vendor" just means that you have a business and sell things (stamps, paper, gadgets, supplies) to stampers on the list. I am a cardstock vendor. I have a business and purchase cardstock wholesale (by the truckload!!!) and re-package it in smaller packages for stamper. Hope this helps. - -Fran the Frantic Stamper :-@ http://www.angelfire.com/biz/franticstamp This message was from FranRShaw - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
