Cards are to be postmarked in 1 week!! I'll be watching for them. JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED THE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! Drum roll please.... Here is the announcement of the theme for this swap. "It's a Small World" Just a reminder - you CANNOT buy any new stamps for this swap. The idea is that you create your cards using the stamps that you already have. you have any questions email me but the interpretation is yours. Violetnut Name of Swap: Come As You Are - CAYA Hosted by: Violetnut Item Info: Cards 6 for 6 Postmark Date: 1 May (Note date change from Proposal) Status: CLOSED to new sign ups Mailing Info: SAML and equal postage, but no less than .78 please. No metered strips please. I will recycle envelopes. International stampers contact me for arrangements. Theme Details: This swap is a little different. You won't know the theme until 31 March. Then I'll announce theme and you have 4 weeks to send in your cards based on the theme. AND after the theme is announced you can't buy any stamps for use on the swap cards. You have to use something you already have. For example, one of the themes last year was "Curses! Foiled Again!". You didn't know that when you signed up but it was announced later and you had a month to get them in. At the time the theme is announced, the swap is closed. Last time one card was sent round robin. I am not going to do that this time. The consensus of the people who responded to this question was that we not bother to do that this time. And we already have a volunteer to host another one after this one is done. Hi everyone, After reading that someone had rec'd their SU swap packet I just knew that mine was going to come today! As I was leaving my house to rush to the kids' school, who should drive by but the postal carrier (I never know who it's going to be in my town so will leave that gender-less). Naturally, I had to chase the truck down the street to see if my swap packet had arrived! I followed that truck for a block and a half before the carrier had to turn around and head back so I managed to catch her (yes, by then I could see who it was today). At any rate, my efforts did not go unrewarded....I got my SU swap packet! Hurray! Is it only a coincidence that I had my next SU swap package for Therese's SU swap in the car to mail today? So, on to the good stuff! Some very beautiful cards in there and it is so much fun to see stamps that I recognize (and often have) in such different formats. I love it! Karen: This is the cutest card! She used "Frogs and Flies" from the '98 supplement. She took plain cream cardstock over which she layered seafoam green trimmed with decorative scissors then another cream card stamped in an all over pattern with lilypads, over that another seafoam green card and on top of that a decoratively trimmed cream card with a little froggie girl (wearing pinafore and a bow on her head) sitting on a rock holding a net and a jar labeled "fresh flies 5 cents". All stamped images are colored in nicely with pastels (pencils, I think). Inside, another lilypad on the one side with the stamped expression, "Time's fun when you're having flies", there are little flies buzzing around underneath. I truthfully didn't even look twice at this stamp when I saw the supplement but you really made it a knock-out! Next one is anonymous....but cute! This is the Somebunny Special set. A peach colored card layered with deckle edgeed white which is stamped around the edges with alternating bunnies and carrots to make it look like a frame. Then another layer of peach (also deckled) and on top of that a cut out image of a little girl bunny in a pinafore with apron. Very sweet with the pastel coloring, pencils again, I think. Inside is stamped, "You're Somebunny Special". From Trish Shandor: She used the "cup of kindness" set. White c/s with a doily layer underneath not one but two china teacups. (I 'spose they could be used for coffee too) Looks like she masked and stamped them one in front of the other on blue-gray c/s then cut out and mounted on the doily. Nice touch...pretty cups all ready for guests! Inside is a decorative border insert stamped with "Friendship begins with a cup of kindness". Pretty card, especially for a tea drinker like me! From begg@compuserve.com: my favorite little tulip stamp from the "hello spring" set. They are on white c/s stamped in a border along the bottom and she colored the flowers all pink. The top has a wonderful background color and I am stumped as to how this was done. Can you brayer on matte c/s? She somehow made the colors all blend together so beautifully that it looks like the sky with the sun in the corner. Don't know how else to describe this....it starts as purple on one end and graduates thru to blue then bluish- green then yellow. Just amazing! How was this done??? I love it! Over top of the colored background is stamped "hello spring" with a nice textured (almost glittery) bow at the top. Inside is embossed "May your day be as wonderful as you are" in purple with a little flower stamped in the top corner. Purple for the flower and green leaves. This is gift card enclosure size and it just beautiful. I love what you with that darling little set. From Sharon: My all time favorite set...the Country Angel. She is embossed on white c/s in black ep with her plaid dress and hair colored in, apron and wings left white. Cut out and mounted on a cool brayered layer of various pastels along with a little flowerpot and a grapevine wreath complete with bird as well as a black embossed "for you" stamp. The brayered card is layered overtop a lavendar c/s trimmed with a decorative pattern (which scissor pattern is that? I like it!) which is finally attached to hot pink c/s. There's a little white bow in the top left corner and the trio of patchwork stars are embossed and colored in each of the other corners so that they touch every layer of paper. Inside, layered and embossed in black, is the saying, "Friends so dear are angels here". This is truly a work of art...I would never have thought to emboss this beautiful angel but she sure looks great! Thanks, everyone, for sharing their ideas and cards....this was my second swap rec'd and it's clear there are a lot of talented stampers out there! Glad I could get in on this one! Thanks a bunch to Tiffaniy W., our swap hostess as well. Unfortunately, I did not keep the swap info sheet with your e-mail list but I do appreciate all your hard work on this swap. You'll be refunded any extra left over. And 3 (THREE) self addressed mailing labels, please don't forget the labels, it really makes a difference in getting the swaps out faster, and I wrap the return swap in a water proof bag that will have your address label on it so if the envelope rips, the PO will still know where to send it, (and all the cards/work won't fall out loose on the floor to be lost forever, it works, too.) Guess what! I just found out there is a mail order vendor right in my neck of the woods! Well, at least within a 15 minute drive anyway. I just finished talking to her and she carries 10 different companies most of which I've only heard of and (this is the best part!) she has all their catties and I can go to her house to see them as well as check out her instock collection! Wow....30% off retail and no s&h? It just doesn't get any better than this! jd This message was from Jhoyt1012 - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. They are so gorgeous. If you can get an order in this month, do it. Their sale is great. I got my Dr. Seuss Stamps from Ruthann Gigliotti today, too. My daughter-in-law stopped over and oohed and awed over all four of them. She said she mixed Max, the Grinch's dog. Do you have one with him, Ruthann? :) Cynergy This message was from Cynthia Bell-Moores - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
