Where the image comes from has no difference in being an angel company, (my words) an angel company is a company that grants the purchaser of the stamp an limited use license up front to use the stamp for handstamped commercial items. It is a license just like getting written permission from the stamp company. When the person buys the stamp they are agreeing to use the stamp in a way that does not violate the limited use license. The idea of doing this saves everyone a lot of paper work, and that is the main reason (I feel) that it is used. Also, be very careful about the public domain ideas, because once an artist has taken a image and re-worked it so that it will stamp (often up to 6 hours per image) there is a new copyright created on the re-worked image, you can use the orginal image if you can find it anyway you want but not the re-worked copy that has a new copyright. I have spent a ton of money on this point and have listened to lawyers agreeing both sides, but when asked if he personally would use someone elses copyrighted re-worked image he said no.... Everyone, of my images are modified from the orginals such that if I find someone using that image, I think that I will be able to prove that it came from mine and not from the orginal. I consider my self every bit an artist, I like to think that I am an expert in restoring old art, so that it is again available to the masses. I'm so happy with all of these ideas. Descriptions arn't enough. Everyone should see these. Diannalynn Claridge's card is very elegent done on off white layers using cardstock & wallpaper with flowers. A flower stamp that I haven't seen before. I like the way you did the ribbon. Lynda Barnwell used a dogwood frame. I need to know how you did this. Did you use some type of gloss on this card? Two adorable little boys in this picture frame. Eileen deMars stamp of two children is beautifully done. Love these colors together as layers. The 2 layers of corrugated paper were highlighted with metallic rub ons. Also a pretty ribbon. Cheryl Helm. Beautiful card. Gold webbing spray used on the turquoise cardstock & the mulberry paper. The stamp is done on metallic gold & embossed, then cut in heart shape. Inside saying: Fly away with your dreams; don't leave them behind! What kind of webbing spray do you use? Need some. Don't like mine. Anne Stone how do you expect me to describe? Done on brown cardstock with 4 different layers. The stamp looks like a fern. A stamped frame used. Gorgeous!! Please let me know where you got the fram stamp. We're a "normal" mature list :D Just what I suspected, we're normal. Darn. :) The Natural Life Cycle Of Mailing Lists Kat Nagel (KatNagel@eznet.net) sent this terrific piece to the EARLY-M mailing list in December 1994. It is the best description of the social development of a mailing list I've read. Every list seems to go through the same cycle: 1.Initial enthusiasm (people introduce themselves, and gush a lot about how wonderful it is to find kindred souls). 2.Evangelism (people moan about how few folks are posting to the list, and brainstorm recruitment strategies). 3.Growth (more and more people join, more and more lengthy threads develop, occasional off-topic threads pop up). 4.Community (lots of threads, some more relevant than others; lots of information and advice is exchanged; experts help other experts as well as less experienced colleagues; friendships develop; people tease each other; newcomers are welcomed with generosity and patience; everyone -- newbie and expert alike -- feels comfortable asking questions, suggesting answers, and sharing opinions). 5.Discomfort with diversity (the number of messages increases dramatically; not every thread is fascinating to every reader; people start complaining about the signal-to-noise ratio; person 1 threatens to quit if *other* people don't limit discussion to person 1's pet topic; person 2 agrees with person 1; person 3 tells 1 & 2 to lighten up; more bandwidth is wasted complaining about off-topic threads than is used for the threads themselves; everyone gets annoyed). 6.Finally: 1.Smug complacency and stagnation (the purists flame everyone who asks an 'old' question or responds with humor to a serious post; newbies are rebuffed; traffic drops to a doze-producing level of a few minor issues; all interesting discussions happen by private email and are limited to a few participants; the purists spend lots of time self-righteously congratulating each other on keeping off-topic threads off the list). OR 2.Maturity (a few people quit in a huff; the rest of the participants stay near stage 4, with stage 5 popping up briefly every few weeks; many people wear out their second or third 'delete' key, but the list lives contentedly ever after). I want--I long--for the ability to sit, close my eyes, and let my long, slim fingers (another thing I wish I had) alternately dance and then ache over the keys. I want to be able to move people to tears with the haunting beauty of my talent. I want to be able to sit and express my every emotion on the piano. My best friends are usually intelligent, loving people who bring conversation and laughter into my life What single thing contributes most significantly to your ability to get a good night's sleep? That's never been a problem-perhaps because I stay up so late trying to learn how to stamp so my swaps will look as good as most of YOURS Other hobbies besides rubber stamping? (Here's where I really feel inadequate compared to the rest of you who have almost to a person answered with such things as cross stitching, quilting, etc.) I am most decidedly NOT crafty--rubberstamping in my sole attempt in this field. My other hobbies are astronomy, cooking, reading (heaven is a page turner sitting in a comfy chair in front of a fire with a cup of hot chocolate) traveling, and my great passion--photography. I don't mean to imply that BFEans are any less likely to be rapists, axe murderers and pederasts, but honestly the chances are probably less out there where you are. Sometimes I wonder if we aren't more frightened because we now "know" what can happen, than we used to be because we didn't know about things like that. There are still "nice" people in the world, and it's just too difficult not to trust anyone. Sometimes you have to trust. You may be wrong, but distrust breeds distrust. If she had to pick a stranger, she did a good job. Personally, I wouldn't have done it, but then I live in a large city, where all kinds of terrible things happen every day. I don't think I'm making myself very clear, but I guess I'm saying you have to take the whole situation into consideration. What would be foolhardy in New York or Chicago, might not be quite so foolish in New Brunswick.
