This is such a wonderful package and I keep looking through everything over and over again in sheer amazement. Much of the package is dedicated to demonstrating three wonderful techniques new to me - stamping on velvet, copper metal sheeting stamping, and mosaic strip technique. Supplies to make cards using these techniques are included in the package - and most amazing of all - my SS took the time and trouble to type out directions and make absolutely beautiful cards for me in each technique! I am totally in awe of my SS's talent! I'm never in a million years going to be able to do these beautiful cards justice with my description, but I'll give it a try. To demonstrate the copper metal sheeting stamping, my SS stamped small leaves all over the front and back of the card in fall colors. On the front is an exotic paper like a white mulberry paper with different leaves stamped and embossed in fall colors. Attached in the upper right corner on an angle is a rectangle of copper sheeting that has been stamped and embossed with an oak leaf and press-embossed around the edges to make a frame. It's attached to the card with a pretty brown ribbon hole punched through the metal and the card. This card is in a wallpaper envelope of matching colors. Awesome! For the mosaic strip technique, my SS made a card with a burgundy background dabbed with gold. On this was layered pink glossy cardstock with deckled edges. On top of that is centered the beautiful mosaic strips that have been glazed and are shiny. In the center of the mosaic is a beautiful egg with a rose pattern, embossed in gold and colored in so beautifully. The egg is raised for a 3-D effect. Absolutely stunning! The velvet stamped card example is on pale green and white cardstock with a window cut a little higher than center. Behind the window is flowers stamped onto velvet. A soft green cord edges the window, with the tie at the lower right. So elegant. My SS also sent a second velvet stamped sample - a large winter scene of a village with trees... totally beautiful. In my package I received: *a large wood mounted stamp - Mostly Animals "Pitcher of Flowers" *a wood mounted stamp - Azadi Earles wreath with roses and a bow *a beautiful hand cast paper angel from Non Sequitur *metallic rub-ons kit with seven colors (can't wait to try these!) *paper trimmer (DH was playing with that already and thinks it's great! It goes on *my* work table though!) *a baggie of unmounted dies, including many sayings, people and a house with trees - most already on Halos! *a package of yummy chocolate cinnamon cocoa *PSX glitter *Press-A-Frame from Hero Arts *two packages of brass sheet metal and several sheets of copper *a package of peel-and-stick double sided adhesive *a big package of beautiful colors of paper strips *four very large pieces of the most beautiful velvet material in rich burgundy, brown, white and green Everything was wrapped in pretty tissue paper. Thank you so much SS for such a wonderful package! I truly do appreciate how you have taken the time to choose everything that is so perfect for me! A special thank you for all the time you spent making the lovely cards. Many thanks! Carol, There are several things you can do. 1. The neighborhood, as a group, should write the landlord. He should be informed that you will (as a group) seek legal action against him if he doesn't alleviate the "nuisance" (and that's a real legal term!!) that has cropped up in the neighborhood. The landlord CAN be held accountable to the neighborhood; he may not realize that. 2. Check with your local prosecutor. Often, property can be condemned/forfeited if it is being used for illegal purposes. In many counties, the prosecutor has someone in their office who specifically handles forfeiture cases. The prosecutor can write a letter to the property owner advising them that *if* the property is being used in an illegal manner, it is subject to forfeiture by law. 3. Continue to maintain open lines of communication with the police. Often, the best information law enforcement receives regarding drug trafficking is the information given by concerned citizens. The entire neighborhood should document those warning signals that drugs may be available for purchase in this house: those signs *may* include: a. large am'ts of in/out traffic where the people stay only for short periods of time b. traffic in/out of the house during unusual time periods 4. Document the car tag numbers and give THOSE to the police. I would speak specifically to the sgt. in charge of the Drug/Vice unit in my community, as that person would be most in touch with the "intelligence" surrounding the drug community. The thing a drug dealer hates worse than anything is community pressure. Your neighbors, if you REALLY suspect drug trafficking, can videotape the traffic in and out of the house. Let me tell you, if you do this PUBLICLY, as is happening in a number of high drug areas, the dealers will find a better place to be. (I myself find this to be a high risk activity, just so you know.) There is usually a person in either the prosecutor's office or the police department who works with Neighborhood Watch Associations. Get in touch with that person for more information :) Hope this helps..... Sheryl says with halos you don't need cushion probably due to the "play" between hook and loop tape . I started using funfoam for cushion when I first started stamping, and Susan of Diva fame suggested I double the foam on certain of her more detailed stamps. I liked the results and often doubled the cushion. I bought some large card-sized stamps from Rubber Anarchy and mounted on Halos, then had a horrible time trying to stamp them. I see no real problem with extra cushion, usually it can only help. Unfortunately, I let myself listen to friends "but you can't use cushion and halos!" and my lazy nature, and again mounted large Stamp Out Cute images directly on Halos---I haven't tried these yet. Lots of people say brayer color over the large stamps and I'm sure this will work, just need to overcome my own mental resistance. Just for comparison I have a large wood mounted Magenta image and the only way I can get full print is by putting it on the floor and standing on it. Oh, and the only time I've had too much cushion was with alphabets--too thick a cushion was provided by company (a freebie) and the individual letters and # were wobbily. As to the three tiered companies I've only seen a few, 100 Proof Press being the most notable. Acuey Duecy did sale her unmounted with cushion, but I don't know her current policy This message was from I-sisStamps@webtv.net (Sally Kennedy) - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Today's CNET Central tv program had people on it who's business it is to find out all about someone. They had only the names of two people on the show, and were able to find out amazing things about them. Names, addresses, birthdays, SS #s, property owned, cars, accidents and so on. In fact, a couple of years ago a local reporter was doing a piece on the same subject and asked for volunteers from people on his e-mail list. I volunteered, and he did a search. Then he came over and showed me all that he found (personally, without going through paid investigators), and I was totally surprised. One thing he discovered was that someone else had used my SS# on a credit application to purchase a car in Alpheretta, GA. He did searches on several of us and then did a feature article about it and how easy it is to find information about people. --`--,--{@ Patti in Fort Myers, FL @}--`--,-- Computers are life. Isn't the web something else? A while back someone posted about a web page where you could look for old schoolmates, so I went there and found 4 or 5 names that were familiar from my high school graduating class. I had totally lost touch with everyone I ever knew from school. I registered my name there for the hell of it. The other day I received an e-mail from a gal who was in my class. I didn't know her in school, but had seen her around. We ran in differnt circles. Seems that she keeps the list of alumni for the class of '55 and had just sent out a notice of info about the 45 year reunion to take place in the year 2000. My name was on the list of lost classmates, and now I was found. Would I give her my address so they could send me information from now on. I did so, and yesterday I got the information about the 2000 45th year reunion of my HS graduating class. So I'm an alumni now. Seeing all those familiar names and getting out the yearbook and looking at faces and wondering what they look like now. I, of course, haven't changed a bit. I look exactly as I did when I was 18. --`--,--{@ Patti in Fort Myers, FL @}--`--,-- Computers are life. Rubberstamping is art. I've coached the past two year. This year with my daughter's kindergarten grade and last year with my son't 1st grade. We competed in the primary division, so you just get points - not official competition. I wouldn't trade these experiences for anything in the world! Most people have no idea what it is. Even here, in the school that it is offered in I have parents who have no idea what it is. I'm going to do it again next year! That dream of opening an official stamp store will just have to wait until they get a little older, like college maybe???? When your son went to world where was it held? What division? Oh, to see my future... I'm sure your son's have gained so much from being involved with this!
