Magenta Swap came! LONG I got some great cards from the Magenta Swap and oh boy! am I happy! Here's some descriptions in no particular order: Ellen deMars A layered square card using corrugated paper. Great color combinations. Start off with a tan/orangish speckled card cut with fiskars fancy shears, with a red corrugated cut with the same fiskars on top of the tan with a brown/with copper? highlights corrugated with the same fiskars edging. On top of all this is a square baby stamp of what seems like two sisters looking at each other stamped black on vellum I think. I love the color combinations and the square shape! Great idea! In the upper left hand corner is some shiny brown/gold/copper tulle, kinda like a bow but not tied in a bow. very nice! L.B. Same stamp as Ellen's in brown ink, cut out ina perfect square on white cardstock, ontop a red paper for a perfect red border. This is set in the center, but up towards the top half of a rectangle pinkish cardstock. The pinkish cardstock has a bunch of old fashioned baby carriages all over it for a great baby background border! What a great card for welcoming a baby into the world or for announcing one. No name A Christmas candlestick is set on brown cardstock and then part of it is colored in. This is cut out and set atop red cardstock for a perfect red border. All this is centered onto a brown cardstock with green Christmas bells all over it for a great Christmasy background. I've not seen either one of these Magenta stamps before and they go together great. A great Christmas card, not too difficult or time consuming to make but with a nice look to it. Dragonlady A large alphabet stamp is embossed in gold on vellum and cut out very closely to the edges. This is placed on brown cardstock that's cut out with deckle edges, and then placed on a deeper shade of brown cardstock with straight edges. All of this is placed on corrugated paper, but the left side is green and the right side is blue with it cut kitty corner upper right to lower left. Cute idea. Linda Yamakido (hope that's right!) If I don't have this Magenta stamp then I must get it coz it's gorgeous and I've seen such gorgeous stuff done with it! Their great big horse stamp with the border as part of the stamp os done in a deep color, black? navy blue? on white cardstock and cut out very close to the edge. This is then placed on white deckle edged cardstock that's got little wisps of blue lines through it. this is all placed atop a deep navy blue cardstock for a perfect navy border with a deckle edge. In the upper right hand corner is a velvet navy blue bow. So simple, yet so great looking a card! L.B. Gorgeous card. One of my favorite Magenta stamps, their rose heart stamp with the swirls in the middle embossed in gold on red, cut out perfectly and then placed on brown corrugated paper. This is all ontop of the same red cardstock with gold swirls all across the border for a gorgeous border to this card! Great work! Kathy A gorgeous purple card with lots of detailing. this one took a lot of effort and man oh man do I love it! It's a stamp I've not seen before of pansies and leaves, on lavendar? cardstock, colored in to perfection!, and then cut out with one deckle edge, and all 4 edges have a gold embossed border. This is placed to the left of a beautiful purple colored cardstock with a golden splashed background across it. I love this card! WOW! Trish Rodgers A bookmark, one gorgeous border stamp of poppie flowers?, stamps in navy then again in turquoise over this. Cut out closely to the border of the stamp and then a gold border around it. This is all placed on green cardstock. A unique way of stamping. Great color cominations. NO NAME A vase of a woman stamped in black dye ink on a brayered card of pink/blue/purples, cut out and placed into the old fashioned picture holders that my Grandma used to use to place her pictures in inside her photo albums. This is one top of a green/blue card with red leaves cut out in the fancy fiskars edgeing and all this is on top of lavendar cardstock. A unique card with great color combinations. NO NAME A gorgeous bookmark! Too gorgeous for a bookmark! Their vases stamp of 3 vases, with a perfect and very thing black border around the edge of it on top of a pink cardstock for a perfect pink border on top of a black. Gorgeous! With a pink chord at the top of it. The vases are colored in with great care to perfection, with a very good eye for detaling! A really wonderful artistic job well done! Too good for a bookmark! Suzanne A navy and white card very well done. I've never seen this stamp before but I really love it. A woman sleeping with a baby beside her done in navy dye ink on white, cut out close, then placed on a faded bluejean color card with a white and then a navy under all that. The navy is placed on a white cardstock with only the white borders showing on the top an bottom of the card. Very nice. Debra Nielsen Wow! A gold and red Christmas card, very nice! I think wallpaper was used, too. Very well done and really inspiring. I don't think my description can do it justice. Christine Cox This has already been described 2 or 3 times, So I won't describe it, but I think it's gorgeous. I want very much to know how you got the sliver/gold and copper colors in such random patterns on your 4 stamps! You *must* tell me so I don't die of curiosity! lol Please, I have gotta know! I have one of these stamps and would very much like to do this exact same method with it. A great big fat hug and slobbery kiss all over Debra Young for hosting! A great job done for a great swap! So, who's hosting the next Magenta swap? I wanna know so I can join! First, pick out the six you like best and give the rest to your friends. Then start using the paper for background paper on cards-- especially collage, boxes and/or box covers, book covers, wrapping paper, paper hats, dollhouse wallpaper, shelf liner, etc. You can use it for envelopes for your personal use which means your cards can be any size now. OR you can make folders to hold a set of note-cards or stationary to send as a gift--and the envelope to send the gift in. You'll think of something.... Cheryl-purple cs, with silver and gold embossed "Thinking of You". 2 buttons in one corner and a raffita bow in the other corner. She also used a victorian type corner rounder for the two bottom corners. Very nice. Patty Tupper-white cs with a pastel wallpaper background. Layered on purple cs is embossed old fashioned sewing machine (SU) and "friendship is the thread that ties all hearts together", the cards is embellished with purple start and ice cream cone buttons. Cute idea! Kathyrn Evans-dk blue cs, red glitter embossed SU elegant background, in the middle is gold embossed mailbox with the words "Just a Note" above the box. What a simple but elegant use of the stamps. Linda Farrell-Shiny purple cs, tons of small glitter butterflies as a background and a beautiful large butterfly in the middle. The lg butterflie is made up of at least 7 different colors of glitter (is that AIG?). So pretty! Barbara Schuck-white cs, gold metallic polka dots for the background, two gold embossed lines down the side of the card, layered with dk blue cs, and violet cs, gold embossed in the middle with a pretty flower. I finally received the shaker card swap. I've been running to my mailbox ever since Susan mailed them out last week. Thanks Susan for hosting this cool swap. Gosh, I better go stock up on foam core because I never knew there were so many neat ideas. Here's my best description... stampindi@aol.com-yellow boarder with baby rattles, hearts and a bottle along the bottom. The background of the shaker part is baby foot prints. The shaker material is bottles and rattles. unknown-a garden floral type frame (embossed and colorer very pretty), the inside frame was cut out and the shaker material was seeds. the background was a floral word print stamp. so cool. even used purple ribbon on the outside edge of the foam core to cover it up. Burning Rubber-lt green cs square, each edge is stamped with "thinking of you", the middle of the square is cut out. the shaker material is small beeds, and the background is a lily of the valley. Robin Moore-purple wrapping paper with gold stars is used to wrap the foam core. a rectangle is cut in the middle. the shaker material is balloons, rubberstamps and stars. the background is gold embossed balloons. inside the card says "Life is a party,,,Celebrate it everyday!" also came in a cool clear envy. Robin Moore-purple wrapping paper with gold stars used to wrap the foam core. a rectangle is cut in the middle. the shaker material is coffee beans! the background is a old lady in a purple bath robe and pink bunny slippers. inside says "Domestic goddess in charge" also in a clear envy. Michele Mills-silver embossed jar, inside the jar is green grass and a lady bug (not a real bug, one stamped on paper...smile). on the back it says "Caught a bug? Hope you feel better soon!!" Holly Young-cool floral type paper is covering all of the foam core. there is a birdbath and sunshine near the edge of the cut out area. the shaker material is birdseed and inside the cut out area is a paper birdhouse! the background is decorated with clouds, a bee, and flowers. looks like it took a lot of time! Dorothy Becknell-bright sunshine with clouds and flower scene on front, the shaker material is little flowers, butterflies, and stars. the background inside says "Believe in your dreams". The outside of the foam core is covered with a pretty yellow ribbon and the inside foam core is covered with a thick yellow glitter. Kathy McCaffrey-pale blue cs, with a pink ribbon, yellow button, and fabric emebellishments. the shaker material is flowers, bees, a flower watering pot, and a rubber stamp. blue fun foam was used instead of foam core. Lorraine Fox-front is shiny cs, brayered (?) with blueish greens, and two cats looking "into" the card. the inside background is trees. the shaker material is rice. the clear window was stamped with a white lace pattern and the outside edge of the foam core is covered with a navy blue ribbon. Whew...I got through all of those descriptions. Thanks to everybody for participating. It was a lot of fun!!! marstamper@juno.com-an egg shaped snow globe is cut out in the middle. inside the globe is a forest and castle scene. the shaker material is large clear white glitter (?). _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. It is mesh and spongy. I cut it out to whatever shape or size I want and lay it on a piece of scrap paper. Dump ep all over it and carefully pick it up and move it to another piece of scrap paper. I then heat it with a pre-heated heat gun. Quickly so you don't continue to melt the shelf liner. You can build the ep up by doing this over. Hope that helps, Sherri Q Laurie Morrison wrote: > any great suggestions? I can't find the article in Somerset? that this > technique was shared.
