I think it is fascinating to read about the problems families had at various times in history. It is really important to get all the information you can from the elders so it won't be lost. My grandfather (Mother's dad) lived to be 93 and took his first airplane ride to Georgia to visit us for Christmas. He walked up and down the street mumbling that it should not be 70 degrees on Christmas. He also made the front page of the paper when he flew to visit us. I guess people from that small town didn't understand that you're only as old as you feel. He lived in a rooming house about 7 blocks from downtown and walked down for his meals every day. Probably kept him healthy. I remember he used to take me to the movies every Saturday afternoon and we would walk to town. It was all I could do to keep up with him! He also worried about us when we were stationed in Hawaii. I guess he thought we would be eaten by headhunters! : > ) Barbara (StampBear) bholl@halcyon.com On Tue, 29 Jul 1997, lissa wrote: > Jody Morrison wrote: > > > > Doesnt' bore me at all; I also love family geneology. Actually, I'm not working hard at this. I drink about 3 litres of water a day and I garden, work hard around the house. My classroom is a 1/4 mile round trip to the xerox room, so I for sure get my walking in.... I was semi-kidding about the chocolate. I tend to eat pretty well; lots of veges and fruit, and grains. Very little meat. mostly fish and chicken and extra lean pork... I was a vegetarian for a long time and learned a bit about combining foods for complete protein so I don't eat direct protein all that often. And, you are absolutely right. Walking just a bit further to the car, treating housecleaning (when I do it) as an exercise routine, all these things really really do help. Thanks for your post!!!!
