The questions are 1) What is your personal definition of prejudice? 2) Where, in your world, do you see prejudice? 3)How have you personally experienced prejudice? 4) How have you been prejudiced? and 5) What can you do to help stop prejudice, what might the consequences be and what would you do about them? My favorite stamp store owner (Annette from The Stamp Patch in Appleton (Menasha) WI) says to inky it and stamp on scrap[ paper many many times until the ink can impregnate the rubber. Also, check to make sure you don't have a faulty stamp. On stamps with a lot of broad surface to stamp you may need to take a very fine finger nail buffer to it...VERY gently. I thought I'd found what I wanted when I saw the Stampendous one (Quaint Window, P006) but it has curtains in it. I hope to find a window, arched would be perfect, that has nothing in the window to obscure the view! Does this make sense? The plan is to stamp it on the front, cut out the panes, and stamp inside what would be the view. Does anyone know of a stamp like that? I have one exactly like you're describing and it's from Azadi Earles. I'm at work and the stamp is at home, but I'm guessing it's about 4" high. it has an arched top with three curved panes around the top and then 4 square panes on the lower portion of the window. These panes are great cut out with an xacto. For Christmas one year I stamped holly and berries around the sides and top of the window, cut out the panes and then stamped a Christmas scene inside the card. It looked really pretty. I happen to have the Jan/Feb RSM here at the office and this stamp is featured in Azadi's ad on page 79. It's a great outlook -- not "Dang it where's my STUFF" but "oooh cool, fun mail!" Certainly better for the blood pressure. For the record, traditional mail art takes a similar aproach--you aren't in it for what you get but for the joy of sending your creations out there. Of course the mail art slogan is "Senders Receive", meaning the more "bread" you cast on the waters, the more finds its way back to you. I do think that hosting a swap or promising to be in one are both real commitments that should be followed through on, but some perspective is in order as to what's really at stake. If one delayed, missing, or absconded swap is going to ruin your whole enjoyment of this hobby, better rolle those dice carefully to begin with...pick a swap run by a hostess who has a clearly good reputation (and people always do rave about those who get swaps back quickly etc.), or swap 1-for-1 with your own personal buddies.... The stamps are a mixture of All Night Media, Stampendous, Art Impressions, Holly Pond HIll, Azadi, and That's All She Stamped. I can do the bags according to themes as well. The following themes are currently available: Bears, Pooh, Mary Engelbreit, Florals, Halloween, Inspirational, Country, Snowmen, Backs & Fronts (Art Impressions), Lanscapes (trees, bushes, flowers, grass), Under the Sea, Thanksgiving, Etchling / Dry Embossing (This one comes with an Ethcling stamp, Dry Embossing stencil, stylus tool, and package of cards), Borders & Corners, Birthday, Nautical/Beach, In The House (doors, bathrooms, lamp etc.), Hearts, Holly Pond Hill, Precious Moments, and Summertime. Individual themes are limited, so first some first served. I also have some accessory grab bags that may include any of the following: pigment pads, embossing powders, Kaleidacolor pads, glitter glue, mathcbook pads, dry embossing stencils and stylus, and brayer. I also have some catalogs and HPH How To Books that I can mix into a grab bag, or I can make a grab bag up of catalogs. If you want to mix some accessories with your stamps to create a grab bag just email me and we can work something out. If the grab bag is for a SSS I will gift wrap each item in the grab bag as an extra special touch and package it in an attractive manner. I will also enclose a card explaining that it is from their SS! I will also email you to let you know exactly when it went out and what was in it. I take money orders or checks. When ordering please put my name in the subject line to make sure it is not accidentally deleted. I look forward to helping you fulfill you SSS needs. If the answer is posted to the > list, it may give us buyers an idea of what you go through. > > TIA, > Susan I hope my response isn't what you were looking for... I find this job a LOT of fun! Obviously, or I wouldn't be doing it! :) I went and filled out some paperwork and paid a fee to get my license. I pay state taxes on a quarterly basis. I pay federal taxes on a yearly basis--this includes social security, self employment tax...this is not cheap. On a daily basis, I input orders into QuickBooks. I don't email people when I receive their checks, but I'm happy to let them know if they ask. (Part of the reason why I prefer credit cards) On a weekly basis, I fill out the paperwork to place orders. On an ongoing basis, I ship orders within 1 business day of receiving both the merchandise from the manufacturer and payment from the customer. From reading the flame war that's been happening, I think I finally figured out why I don't get the GLOWING public reports that some other vendors get...I've often wondered, since I thought I was giving good service. 1) I try not to keep an inventory, so it takes 3-6 weeks for delivery (which I *try* to remember to mention at time of ordering) 2) I don't email you when I receive your check. Is this really important? I'm afraid if I took the time to do that (which would mean having to actually look up most of your email addresses, since they're not on your checks), I wouldn't have time to enjoy the list. Does this seem an accurate assessment to you?
