A couple of years ago my daughter got me to promise to boycott grapes with her (combination of working conditions, breast cancer-causing pesticides being used, I forget all the issues)... and she won't let me eat grapes to this very day. Frank either, and she keeps tabs on his grape consumption across the miles. He just asked for "grape liberation" the other day and his request was denied. (Her dad, on the other hand, has a thick layer of grape stems on the floor of his car from cheating while driving.) She will allow French wine to be consumed, grapes picked in France are beyond her boycott. So I can tell you a glass of French wine DOES make anything better, even hot flashes. I received the Beach Party swap yesterday--great swap! Cynde: Sent quite the "babe" (eeeoooowww!) sitting in the sand with the caption "Yes dahling, the sun is down". Cool way to do a sunset! I like it! Thanks Cynde! CRA: On the front there are clouds on topo, "Life's a Beach..." in the center and sand with seashells on the bottom. Inside there is a bear in an innertube in the water flying a kite and it says "play hard". The bear is 3D and so is the kite--the kite has a cute tail, and it is held by a real string. The water is embossed for highlights. wonderful! Too cute! Thanks CRA! Glenyce: She made a scene by stamping water on white CS, and layering with sand paper, and she stamped a tree on the sand paper and glued a starfish and stamped shells on there. Very clever! I have never seen stamping on sand paper before--that is too cool! She also sent an envelope she made out of a calendar page of water and trees. Thanks Glenyce! Irma: She stamped a trio of ladies (looks like maybe a dotty's darling stamp?) on the beach with a 3D sun on top and water in front with a 3D stamped fish and a genuine shell, layered on a card in a beautiful shade of blue. The sky is also blue--maybe sponged? The edges are cut with fancy scissors. Inside it reads "Keep your sunny side up". What a cute stamp--I don't think I have ever seen it before. Great card! Thanks Irma! Debbie: She has a bear stamped all decked out in beach gear (Love the trunks!) She has a beach in the foreground with a shell glued on, and then waves stamped on blue highlighted with glitter. The sky is pretty, clouds sponged in blue. Then there is a 3D sun. She also used 3D laquer on the snorkeling mask and on the sun's cheeks. This is an excellent use of this stuff! I never would have thought of it, and it looks so genuine! Inside it says "shore wish you were here". This card is adorable--thanks Debbie! This was a great swap! I heard from someone high up in the company that the Union in using this part-time thing as a smoke screen to the real issue. The real issue is the pension plan. If UPS takes control of it, that means lots less money for the union leaders. They don't want to let go of that money. I don't think that the workers even know the whole issue. I heard that the majority of the workers didn't even get to vote on the strike. It was just called by the union leaders. If it was me, I would want to listen to both sides and then decide what was best for me. I don't want someone else deciding my future retirement. Kaye Lynne has become quite ill today. It's not just her migraines this time. She has not kept anything in her stomach for 24 hours. I'm taking her to the hospital tonight. She has a very high fever and all the flu-like symptoms. It might be food poisoning though. There was a picnic yesterday and I brought some food home for Kaye Lynne and she hasn't kept anything down since. I feel really bad about this. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers tonight and I'll let you know something when I get back home. Vitamin E (at least 400 IU) is very helpful, too. I know both are effective from experience. I'm still my same sweet bitchy self. BTW, a very easy way to get soy in many forms is at a health food store. I've been drinking something called Fruitein for years. It helps to keep the "I'm starving I'm going to pigout even tho' it's almost time for supper" binging at bay.
