I will *never* forget those smiling faces at the airport in Atlanta on August 8 ... complete with the Welcome to Atlanta banner being toted by the Georgia Peaches (Linda Sue Neumann, Lisa Wynn and Barclay Hubbs). .... This trip was more like a visit to my sister's than meeting people I'd never "met" before.... I got home from Atlanta about an hour ago -- and the living room looks like a tornado hit it ... clothes, curlers and stamp stuff spread over everywhere. Betty (my sister) is on her way here to help me gloat over my haul (anyone interested... an itemized list will be available for your drooling a little later in the program ... nah, request it by e-mail ... same as if I had lots of time to type, instead of playing touchie-feelie with all the new toys ... er, stuff).... US Air Express did a number on my large suitcase, which arrived 3 hours after I did ... and which in itself almost gave me heart failure. The suitcase was a new one (and a good one at that) and it came back to me with the wheels smashed off, a handle pulled out - and the frame smashed. I was crying before the G/S even got it pulled off the luggage belt ... yes, I was actually crying (well, snivelling ...) ... but by this time, I was too darn mad to have heart failure - but, thank the lucky stars, all my stuff was intact, and undamaged (thank you to the folks at Richardo luggage)... I had a wonderful, wonderful time in Atlanta, as the houseguest of Linda Sue Neumann, and entertained royally by Linda, her daughter Lisa Wynn and our friend, Barclay Hubbs. Anyone who hasn't followed this will be interested to know that this was the first time we had met ... and it's thanks to the R/S list that we got together. We also attended the convention in Pigeon Forge, where we met some other stampers from the R/S list: Wendy & Don, of Appalachian Arts (I could have adopted this couple ... but they wouldn't take me home ... though we did try to follow them there ...) Debbie Gleason-Morgan ... a new vendor and on the R/S list ... what a delightful line!!!! First time I had seen her stamps, and *loved* them. Betsey Bursey ... Hi Betsey!!! Tonya Rilling ... Hi Tonya!!! Auntie Amy .... what a delight to see this line of stamps!!!!! Yum yum!!! Libby White ... Hi Libby!!! ChrisPPP & Tony Salvatore .... A delight, an absolute delight ... and Tony is just the **sexiest** performer yet!!! Ellen & Dale Porter (The Evo's) ... omigosh ... um ... the moral of the story: I wish to heck I had *never* flamed this doll of a woman. Dale is just as nice as can be ... and *very* distinguished!!! Linda (Giggles) Skirvin ..... an angel of a woman ... with the wit and humor of a ( fading whispers here ...) ... let's just say she made me laugh till my eyes leaked. Tracy & Matt May (Barefoot Stamper) ... Great, great people - wonderful dinner companions!!! Kim Cox (not on our R/S list ... but hopeful...) Sandy Snail ... a very, very gracious lady. We had dinner at a lovely German restaurant on Saturday night. The music was energetic, and the food was great ... our companions at dinner kept things high spirited ... thanks, Tony!!! :) :) :) Evo ... your toast was a real chuckler ... I'd love to have a copy!! Oh ... and for those who were there, and who continued to wonder ... YES!!! The Virginian *DOES* have an e-mail address ... joy oh joy!!! Lisa (Stampher2) and Linda are knowledgeable and interesting tour guides ... they not only showed me around their beautiful city, they made sure I was safely seat-belted each time we were in the car ... regardless of my reluctance to be grabbed by that auto-safety thing that went for the technical areas each time .... Barclay ... remember, when in doubt ... I'm KIDDING!!!! I will never, never forget my 10 days in the South, the hospitality that has to be experienced to be believed (Linda ... you've got yourself a new sister!!), the food that is incredible (I *got* to get a smoker), and the good will, laughter and chatter have made this a vacation that will have a special place in my memory chest. HOLT) Subject: RS: Monthly Swap #14 I'm a little behind in my thank yous. School starts next week and kids will be there Monday whether I'm ready or not. From 22 years experience...it's better to be ready for over 600 students! Thanks to Paula Green for the nifty little box...women you have far too much patience! We made these at my stamp club meeting and mine turned out looking like someone sat on it. I promise I won't claim yours as my own since I was such a failure at making them. Thanks! Thanks to Jessica Edwards...I just love getting cards in clear envelopes, very professional looking. The jar with jelly beans is great and the saying fit it perfectly. The instructions for foil stamping will have to go in a file until I get myself organized for school...which may not be til next summer. Thanks! I also make a point of letting them know if for some reason I think I can't do the swap. Things do come up in life, although I have pretty much figured out how many I can handle these days. I always send extra postage (or try to) because I know that what i recieve back might be heavier than what i sent out. I have only rarely had unpleasant swap experiences and those were back when I was newer at this and probably not understanding things. I really love getting exmples of other peoples work and it helps me learn mpre and becoome more creative. I applaud the folks who host swaps, i've only done so a few times and know how diffcult it can be. Finally, I had never stopped to think of the logistics of sending in several btches of the same card in hopes of recieving one of each back. After reading the responses I get how that could really create logistics problems. I just had never stopped and worked it out before. - -amysue This message was from Amysue1@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I take a sheet of paper, stamp the imge, put the hook tape on the back and keep doing that. I use different sheets for diffeent themes. I started by thinking I's use someone elses themes, but the stamps themselves tell you what theme to use. I use colored paper with the theme name before the pages with the stamps because its easier to find what I'm looking for. And, even tho this is ok, I'm also in the market for a more effective way of doing this. The number of UMs who own me has grown huge...
