I had gobs of beautiful pumpkin blooms a few years ago and had all these big plans to bring the day care kids out and let them each one pick out a pumpkin from the patch. I ended up with 2 pumpkins out of about 200 blooms!!!! My resident work garden expert says the problem is with there not being enough bees and butterflies to pollinate all the blooms. He said I could take a paint brush (I did not try this) and I think he said to pollinate the blooms by brushing the paint brush over the inside of the plant (the pistol - I think) and then take it to the next plant and so on and so on. I just had the same thing happen this year with a late zuchinni plant, cucumber plant and a tomato plant. They all have blooms but no fruit. Oh well, at least this year I actually got them into the ground!!!!! Oh well, one accomplishment at a time!!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Hey, wanna stamp? I was fortunate to attend Stampaway V in Cincinnati, OH yesterday. It was a blast, packed with stampers wall to wall. This was my 2nd rubber stamp convention and a lot of fun. Some of my favorite vendors were there. I really liked what Toomuchfun and Stamp Cabana had. These two vendors were the first you saw as you came in the door. Many of the 50+ vendors had sale baskets and bargain unmounteds. Indianapolis vendor Coffee Break Design was there showing off their toys such as mini Kleenex box, Chinese take out container, mini cigs, and goofy designs. Carmen's Veranda had a beautiful table, with travel luggage boxes holding their offerings. Holly Pond Hill had a great advent calendar set for sale. Paula Best, Judi Kins, Meer Image, Jim Stephans, and Art Gone Wild were some of the other vendors. Judith Kleinschmidt's big seller was a bare branched tree. "Ornaments" for the tree included tiny gingerbread men, birdhouses, pumpkins, lights, dog bones, and more. I bought one of those and saw 6 others sell while there. They had a flyer with sample trees. My favorite Effie Glitzfinger stamp I bought said "I Lava You" with hearts inside a lava lamp. The Stamp Clinic had wonderful background stamps they demo'd and sold me. Rubber Stamps of America had a great new DNA helix design. Over the speaker a scavenger hunt was announced every few minutes. Pin trading was rampant and everyone had cameras. I loved one woman's dress, full of her stamped images. Stamp Your Art Out was a great store I visited while in Cincinnati. They moved into a bigger store in the same shopping center 3 weeks ago and their shop was just packed with convention goers. They carry stamps from over 135 companies! They have many scrapbooking supplies. Displays were on the wall and stamps were on little islands as well grouped by theme. I found a stamp of hamsters and some of my favorite magazines. It was a beautiful store and you must go there next time you are in Cincinnati. I would be curious to hear others' interpretations of the conventions as I am not on the list currently. I think everyone there had a blast! This message was from "Denise Breimeir" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Anyway, I'll be ordering direct from Comotion cuz all I want is UMs and Jutta said vendors don't receive a "wholesale" price of UMs and would therefore have to sell 'em to me at the same price Comotion does. But she does give a discount if anyone needs a Comotion product *other than UMs*. ... And I had Comotion bookmarked but I'm glad you mentioned it cuz I went to the site and saw: "Mention you visited our website and receive our Christmas Fun Book as a free gift." So I'll be sure to do that when I call in the order. Thanx again, Inga! I tore up pieces of paper, soaked in water 24 hours, mutilated in the blender. Now what? I squeezed the water out and ended up with a huge, hard spit ball. I have tried everything I can think of to roll it out and make it flat. It is now about 1/4" thick. I layed it on a screen. How do I get all the water out and get it paper thin? I have read Angelhrt's tip page on it, searched the web, etc and I'm still lost. Should I have put any chemical in it? All it is is water and paper. Thanks in advance!!
