Well the few folks who guess what my ultimate package was were pretty much right. I got a LAMINATOR!!! It is a larger one that takes paper up to 9 inches wide. I was going to put this on my Xmas list for my hubby to get for me, now I will have to think of something else. I can't believe I got a laminator! I'm still sort of in shock a bit. To my secret sender a huge thank you. I know that it must have been hard to decide whether to get a big package for me or send little ones each month. As much as I like getting little things to open, I don't think you made a mistake in getting me this! I love it and will use it a lot! Now I can make some awesome convention pins for next June. I will look forward to seeing your "idea" each month. I love receiving cards that show something new. Thanks again. You have been very generous with me! My first reaction was to say "over my dead body" but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it could be worse, she could want a tatoo (not that I have anything against tatoos - but not on my 16 year old) and in a couple years she could do it without my consent. I agreed to let Jess pierce her navel on the following conditions: 1. She had to pay for it. 2. It had to be done by a professional. 3. She had to call our doctor to find out about any risks involved. 4. She had to talk to other people who had various pierced body parts to get their opinions. We have two friends (both adults) who have their noses pierced and 1 with a pierced navel. I didn't try to sway their opinions one way or the other, but their prospective was interesting. Jess made the calls and in the end decided not to do it. The option is still open, but atleast she'll be able to make an informed decision if and when the time comes. How can she just come on here and know what to do. She just seemed too *familar* with the list. How is she having time to keep up with all of these hundreds of emails a day while she is taking care of Lisa's family, kids, etc., home, and Lisa all at the same time.. I know just from my own experience, it is a time consuming job just to read all of these messages each day. THat is why I am on the digest. I know when I was in the hospital back in May, dh was bringing me messages from some of you, but they were messages straight to my email account, as he didn't have time to go through the hundreds each day looking.. I know that if it was me and my daughter and she was on a huge list, the last thing I would want to do is get involved with this huge list with all of the other on my mind. I know I am sure I will be flammed, but who cares.. I have a mind, and by damned, I will speak it. Now, back to reading my digest... One other thing, I do wish LIsa and anyone else that is sick well. I do know what a nervous breakdown is. I had one back in 83. THat was when I went into rehab. I do know what panixc attacks are. That is why I was put on Zoloft. SO don't anyone tell me until I have been there to keep my opinions to myself. Cause, honey, I have been to hell and back...... HUgs and love Ann(who just thinks this is strange) I didn't see AJ say anything rude, just asked for a addy. As far as Evo, she wasn't trying to find out any info on Lisa's case, just wanting to get an address for her at the hospital. She knows some people and I guess just wanted to have them let Lisa know there are people on here that do care. I know Evo would NEVER try to find out someone's medical problems, she has too many other things to do with her life than to pry into someone else's business... ate: 28 Aug 1997 09:44:30 U From: "Michelle Cobb" Subject: RS: Ant Judy re: LISA I think if you read my post closely you'll understand my points ... 1) Of course I read her Mom's original post. 2) People have the right and personal responsibility to protect themselves and therefore can ask questions. (A la Evo.) Expecting answers is a different story. And of course -- most people wanted a hospital addy info to send cards, but some people were talking about facilities and docs as in, "Let's find out if she'd REALLY in the hospital! Let's share her medical condition/progress with all." 3) Some list members are very open about their personal lives - positive and negative. Giggles, for example, is quite open about her chemo but others are more private. And as someone else pointed out, mental illness unfortunately has a stigma which may make Lisa's spouse and kids uncomfortable with 400+ stampers carrying on about their Mom. Here are some points I made to Patti ... (she responded to my post in a fashion similar to yours) "...my post was speaking more to those who were offering to call medical contacts in the area ... And in turn, what do they find out and who do they share that info with. Bottom line? Whatever the topic, we need to consider who we're sharing info with. Strangers and friends alike, whether it's about yourself, a vendor or another list member. What's more, Lisa's Mom sent me a message of gratitude that I expressed some of her feelings. I think we consider the "power" of this list in the abstract until it impacts us personally -- positive and negative. And her Mom is learning that firsthand now. Again, I really want to emphasize that Lisa's Mom has mixed feelings about stating all this. She responded to my post positively, as in -- "Yes, help my daughter if you can but don't expect do know all the personal details and respect my families right to some privacy ..." And then she's also responded to your post to me, which I'm sure you've read. Have a great weekend! Happy Stamping!
