An absolutely beautiful valentine card from Stacia InkBlodgett! She can do beautiful flowers just as well as she can do bloody vampires. THAT'S talent! And this one was mailed in one of those nifty clear envelopes with some fancy heart fetti. Anything mailed in one of those clear envelopes is just plain fun! Ginny Newman's venetian blind pattern and instructions are here! Yeah!! This looks really neat and not difficult at all. Thank you Ginny. After I sent my card to you, I read your post about how many requests you've had for these instructions. I appreciate it so much and I will reimburse your postage. My HALOS starter kit from Sheryl arrived today. I figured since my husband tried to reinvent the whole system, I'd better check it out and see what I've been missing! Everything is so neat and streamlined...I like that and can't wait to get some rubber on it. One of my adoptees, Madonna Hoecker, sent her "ol mom" a care package. This is embarrassing. Her package to me is WAY better than anything I've sent her! It's kind of eerie, too. Either she's been reading my posts or my mind or both. Just lately I've started taking an interest in some of the Laurel Burch images. Lo and behold she sent me three Laurel Burch stamps (celestial, of course!) and an ink pad. She also sent a bottle of really neat celestial glitter. It has tiny stars mixed in with the glitter. AND some celestial confetti...multi colored stars and moons. Then a beautiful book called "Suns & Moons - 20 Practical Inspirations" by Lindsay Porter. I'm already in love with this book. It's full of all kinds of different projects using celestial images. The images are exactly the kind I like (it has templates in the back of the book); the colors they used are gorgeous; the projects are new and unusual...stuff I would never have thought of even trying! Then she made some business cards that have my name and email address on them, a rubber stamp that says "MOM" and under my name she put "artist, stamper, and mentor extraordinaire"! I love these!! And she put them in a little envelope that she made...she must have a 6" rubber thing, too! And to top it all off, a pair of KAI scissors that I've been dying for. Now I'm off to try to pad the pitiful little package that I've been working on for her! Another big "THANKS" to everyone...I appreciate it so much. She will be tested to determine what damage and as to the exact cause of what is believed to have been the mini stroke she had the other day, on Tuesday. She was seen by a physical therapist yesterday as well. As usual, despite her pain and discomfort her spirits are high and positive. That's it for now, and like I've been telling everyone since these treatments have started, don't be too surprised if the next update you get is from Giggles herself. If by some chance she can't I of course will. They use white ink to trace a pattern on vellum. Then, use a punch tool to perforate the edges to be able to punch it out and have a lacy effect. Also, there are some special dyes they use to tint the paper. This is what I do: 1) I stamp the image in white and emboss in white on medium weight vellum. (The vellum needs to be heavier than text weight) 2) I color the image on the reverse side of the vellum for the muted colored effect. 3) I take a medium sized metal craft punch tool and punch holes in the vellum close to the embossed image. These holes are very close together. I use a mouse pad under the vellum as I'm punching for a cushion. 4) I punch out my image by pressing gently where the holes were punched out. Voila, a lacy effect. I used this procedure with some cards for the DeNami Swap and they turned out pretty well. Especially since I didn't use the Pergamano tools. I didn't have access to getting them. Hope this helps. I was going to ask about Pergamano paper also. Please be sure to post to the list because I'm interested too. I have a few more questions though. - Do you need to use Pergamano paper or does some type of vellum work also (be specific please - I'm just learning about the different papers). Does Pergamano paper have some quality that a vellum does not? (or are they the same??) - - I think you are supposed to use a pad under your work. Do you need "their" pad or does something else work? - - Where can you buy the paper and equipment? Do any of the list vendors sell this? I did see this stuff in the Maplewood Crafts catalog but dont' know anything about it and would appreciate knowing other sources.
