First, last weekend, when DH and I arrived at our front door, there was a pink object on the mat. On closer inspection, DH said, "Thank goodness, you've finally gotten a brain." It was the Inklusions brain filled with loads of UMs. From Ruthann: My Embossing Arts order. Thank for the cute UM. From Wenonah: Several jumbo rainbow pads from Stamp Fran plus Wenonah included several sheets of unusual cover stock. Thanks muchly. From Gumbo Graphics: A large order of UMs plus a neat antique repro of a European postcard from Lance as well as several extra UMs. From Jhone Messinger Dickson: Her directory page plus several others as I hadn't a clue as to what the directory was about. From Trish Rodgers : A "care" package shipped in a gallon paint can, filled with all sorts of goodies--UMs, papers, all sorts of wonderful surprises! Thanks to everyone for making this a great week for me and my mailbox. I've gone through what was send and I'm sorry to say not all the signs are represented. I tried to contact each of the participants that I hadn't heard from in a personal e-mail message and did not receive a reply some of them. There is no Cancer cards to swap and unfortunately there was only one gal who signed up for that sign. Here's the quantity of signs received: Aries - 3 Taurus - 1 Gemini - 1 Cancer - 0 Leo - 1 Virgo - 1 Libra - 3 Scorpio - 1 Saggitarius - 1 * Made a card for each individual's sign Capricorn - 2 Aquarius - 2 Pisces - 2 I just had a thought, I don't think it will take all of the $2.00 that was sent in for return postage per my request and so there *may* be enough to do this. I've received permission from the player who made the cards and I'll check out how much it will cost to copy the cards for Saggitarius and Cancer from the cards with each sign. If you wanted a complete set, would this be acceptable? The participants who sent in enough to get a card from every sign are: Michelle Lim, Deni Johnson, Sandy Kavanagh, Karen Glover, Lori Blaauw, Kate Whitridge and Sherie Evers. I will only do this if it can be done with any extra money from that sent for postage from these gals. I hope this is clear, let me know if you have questions and if you'd like me to check this out for you, please let me know ASAP! For all of you who sent in card, I want to compliment you on your creativity and talent; I think these cards turned out well. And, frankly, I thought this was a difficult swap and I was the one who proposed doing it. Thank you for playing in the Zodiac Swap. An inexpensive set of colored pencils. A couple of dye pads (at least one black). A couple of pigment pads (at least one metallic). A jar of clear embossing powder. Several sheets of cardstock (white will do) to start with. Play with those until you're sick of them. Then buy an exacto knife and cutting mat. Buy an 18" metal ruler. Get a glue pen...I like Sailor. Get a heat gun...I recommend Milwaukee. All the while keep adding to your collection of stamps, dye and pigment pads, and embossing powders. Decorative edged scissors. Corner edgers. Buy some prisma glitter. Rob a bank. Get an inexpensive set of watercolors. Buy some confetti. Get some dry tape adhesive...like Dryline. A set of chalks. It just gets worse from here on out. Christine: I, Ant Judy H (the undersigned) was the person who objected to the joke about mammography. You would just be surprised at what I know about humor. Very surprised. What surprises *me* is that you indicate that Linda was flamed ... apparently you never even *read* my post. There was no flame intended or implied. I never even heard of "flame" in conjunction with this thread, until you mentioned it in your post ... I stated my position. Period. What was said about that opinion, added to or detracted from ... well, you did a number on my position, without having even read the post, or knowing who authored it .. Now, **that's** funny ... hilarious. >>The woman (I can't remember who it was) who "corrected" you obviously feels strongly. I on the other hand, agree with a lot of the mail I've seen come through today that laughter is the best medicine. Just look at Giggles and Mr. Evo!<< Agree with whatever you want ... that doesn't change the fact that some of us found the "joke" to be in poor taste. >>When my father-in-law died my husband made a lot of jokes about it. I think some people thought it was odd but his real friends realized that it was a way of dealing with it and laughed with him.<< Everyone deals with grief in their own way; surely you're not suggesting that because your husband laughed at the time of bereavement ... that is an appropriate way for *everyone* to deal with grief?? >>I've had a mammogram and your joke was dead on. Did you read the post yesterday from the woman who said the same joke was posted at the office where she had her mammogram?<< I have had several mammograms, and none bore any resemblance .... . Yes, I read that post ... and if the "joke" had been posted at the hospital where I have my mammograms ... I would have served notice on the administrator, written a letter of protest to the editor of our town's newspaper, contacted the Minister of Health, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Society of Physicians and Surgeons ... et al. >>Anyway, the reason I feel bad is that after reading the flame you got I didn't << What flame?? *What* flame??? Gal, you wouldn't know a flame if it toasted your tush. >>I should have defended you because now you think that the other lady was in the majority. From looking at all the posts today I would say that she is most definitely NOT.<< Wonderful!! You can **count**!! I don't give a ship whether I'm in the majority or not. I indicated that I found the post offensive. And now, I find *your* post offensive ... referring to me as a "lady" ... and you didn't even know who it was .... gawd... blech. Yes, I found the post offensive -- that's my reaction to it ... what's the deal.... do you think it hurts my feelings whether 1 or 1,000 happen to agree? No ... everyone is entitled to their view, and I just expressed mine. Think I was sitting here keeping track of who all agree/disagree? No, my ego isn't starving. >>People who are very, very ill are told that they should watch funny movies and start collecting jokes because laughter releases endorphines which are natural pain killers. I think that's Mother Nature's way of saying it's OK.<< Yeah ... this was old news ... we've known all about that for **years** ....... The whole point of my post, which you obviously didn't read, was that too many women, not having had a mammography, are traumatized by the *thought* of it ...and jokes with negative connotations do not lend any support to mammography, which is one of the best tools in the early detection of breast cancer. >>Please don't unsub from the list. Please don't stop sending jokes. Please don't apologize. You didn't do anything wrong. Sure, you may have offended a few people who don't yet know about laughter being so good for you, but they'll catch on.<< I *already* posted Linda that I didn't think she should stop posting to the list ... but, who are you to tell her she should/should not apologize .... oh yea, I forgot ... you're the MAJORITY!!! Happy for you. BTW, If *I* was offended, don't I still have a right in a democratic society to decide what offends me? And doesn't someone else have the right to decide whether they apologize or not?? What's the deal ... with telling me I should/should not be offended. If the color puce is offensive to me ... that's not your business to say it shouldn't be offensive to me. Or, would you take it upon yourself to decide for me what color I *should* be/not be offended by? Last I heard, I had the freedom to do my own thinking. Oh ... you don't think I know about laughter being so good for me ..... honey, you don't even **know** me, and you're not likely to get the chance, either. But, with a family history of breast cancer, and having four sisters ... it's a reality for us that, considering the statistics, at least one of the five of us will have breast cancer. We all live with that ....... and we fail to see the humor in it. >>Please write to me and tell me you'll stay on the list. Honestly, I'd rather have people WITH a sense of humor on the list than people without.<< Oh ... OK, I'm not going to tell you that this went to the list in error. It didn't. It went on purpose. How's *that* for a sense of humor? Ant Judy H. Live. Love. Laugh. It's matted on brown and then put on a white card. It's done with colored pencils and blended so nice. Sarah Reid did a large PC with the old farm house and ocean beside it with the rowboat and pilings. She colored with pencils too. Very real looking. Cool Marm did the Gossip Club ladies with a brick wall background. One is saying.."well you can just imagine the look of surprise on her face when..." Too funny.
