Is it best to store stamps by categories or by subject. I seem to particularly have this problem with my 2,000 (I'm not kidding) unmounteds. Sometimes I want to use a certain kind of stamp that I know comes from a particular company (for example Bartholomew's Ink), but then sometimes I want to see all my stamps on a particular subject (like Halloween) and the Bartholomew stamps fit that category as well. I've tried keeping a notebook of all the images, but I'd never be able to cross index everything. Any thoughts? Currently I use small drawers, a photo box shelving unit (which is great!) and some of the stacking drawers, as well as a huge, UGLY metal toolbox to store everything. I love to swirl different colors onto the paper. Ultra thick embossing enamel intensifies the colors of interference paint! I made the neatest fish card by first using a blue and then a green blows pens I "painted" a background. Over this I stamped several fishes using my favorite fish stamps and a kaleidacolor pad. Then I colored the fish using blue and violet interference paints. After that I brayered the card with embossing ink and used the ultra thick enamel. Wow! The interference colors just popped right up out of the card. My last thing uses the Stampendous paper texture cube. I first used red and green blow pens to make a swirled splattery back ground. Then I inked up the B side of the cube with embossing ink and stamped it over the card and embossed with gold EP. I heated it, then let it cool. Then I did the same thing with the C side and used silver EP. I think this will make a great elegant christmas card! I am busy making cards I promised for a charity auction at work. I've got to get 25 cards and envys done by Monday! Yikes! I waited too long to start, but I'll make it somehow. I've picked up a weekend job so I don't have all day Sat and Sun. Home schoolers - these make great tools for your children when you are teaching them numbers, dates, etc. And they can enjoy stamping them as well. ^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^ Patti's Stamping Calendar - 1998 and ArtiStamps too Update 9-13-97 If you would like to get a head start on your 1998 Christmas stamping take notice! (other years can be made available on request). Lots of these are already in list members hands, and everyone seems to love them. While planning Christmas gifts for friends and family, I designed a really nice 1998 stamping calendar on my computer. It has plenty of space to stamp on every month's page. It contains 12 pages - 1 for each month - each is 5.5" x 8.5" (portrait orientation) and a blank cover (front and back) page containing only the year (1998) on the front. The calendar grids cover only the bottom half of the pages, leaving the top of every page blank for stamping and binding. You can make some pretty nifty stamping creations on that part (14 pages for stamping - not counting the backs of the pages). I've typeset all dates and added all the holidays that I could find (some quite remote). I even found Mother-In-Law Day . Stampers think this is a good idea and many are getting several of the stamping calendars. They also make great SSS gifts - you can stamp them and make them very personal or send them blank for your SSS to stamp her own. Thanks to the initial encouragement of the rubber stampers on the RS list, I am offering these calendars for sale. I am also offering them via an ad on my web page. If you look there, you will get an idea of what it looks like. The calendar is made on versatile, smooth Wausau vellum bristol. white, matte heavy coverstock which stamps beautifully both for embossing or not, pigments or dye inks, coloring with markers, pencils or watercolor, however, on request, you can have it on King James Silhouette Cast Coat glossy cardstock , instead at the same price. You'd want to have these pretty soon so you can start work on them in plenty of time for the new year. The default, if not specified, is comb bound on matte stock. If you prefer glossy finish or unbound, please specify when you order. I dunno how I lost control of this table thing in the first place.. if I could get the kitchen table back in the kitchen instead of in the playroom, I wouldn't need a new kitchen table, and I'd have this melmac thing going begging that I could put.. somewhere.. in the library maybe? and call it MINE.. and then I'd not have to clean it off all the time! but.. the kids table is only 2' tall.. and the kids are 10 and 13.. rofl! so.. maybe they need that kitchen table in the playroom.. that frees up the "coloring table".. but.. there's no way I'ma fit under a 2' tall table.. it might only be 20" tall.. so.. maybe I oughta buy a new kitchen table... then I'd still get that melmac thing.. yes? now.. to convince the husband that the library is MINE.. Laura, Just so you'll know, I just received this RR this week! I have no idea where the heck it's been, but was so happy to finally see it. I didn't have any pics in there-I was just getting ideas...and btw, your room is great! Linda Israel has been trying to track this thing down forever and it's finally here...my last name starts with a "B". Somehow, folks with "H" and "K" last names have seen it already. I posted this week to the list (and Linda) about finally receiving it and Michelle Cobb is next person to get it. If you're Laura C., you should be getting it after Michelle. I've looked at it for 4 days (like Linda suggested) and am mailing it out tomorrow. I sure hope now it's on the right track! Good luck! All the cards had the corners rounded. The silver cardstock had a design punched in each corner. S sqaure piece of mulberry paper was placed on the diagonal and over that was an angel stamped on thick vellum. The angel was colored in with the prettiest and palest pastel colors. My girls loved this card. Thanks Debbie. Cindy (MacVR@aol.com) used a pistachio green cardstock cut with wave fiskars. Glued onto the cardstock was a piece of vellum. On the vellum embossed in white was an ice cream cone. Cindy colored the image on the back. The ice cream was colored in a slightly darker green pistachi color. The cone was colred in a tan, and the bear was colored brown. The heart cherry on top was colored red. The kids loved this. I love the way the vellum looks. Lori D. Hecker (rbrnut@aol.com) Lori began with a yellow postcard. She then layered a square of blue cardstock on the top half. Over this was layered a white piece of cardstock cut with zipper fiskars. A bear with his honey pot was embossed in black on the white cardstock. What color is the bear? It was such a perfect color. Set at a diagonal on the bottom was white cardstock embossed with the words "Will you "BEE" my honey?" The boys in my class loved the bear. Jessica began with a beige cardstock with black flecks in it. Over that she layered a piece of vellum. On the vellum was embossed in hwite a Santa coming out of a chimney. Inside was stamped the words Merry Christmas. The bottom of the card was cut with dragonback fiskars. The vellum was attached to the card with green raffia. This was also a favorite of all the kids. The last card was either made by Tracy or Bin Yamamoto. The credits on the back are for another card. When I first saw this card I thought it was tri-fold card. When I tried to open it, I realized it wasn't. Three stars were stamped and embossed in yellow glitter at the top, then cut around. A second layer of stamps about 1 inch lower were stamped and cut around also. On a separate piece of cardstock was stamped and embossed was an angel leaning on a cloud. The angel and cloud were watercolored. Wow this looks so professional! Thanks everyones who sent cards. They are a great inspiration to me and my students. They want to learn how to make cards like this Liz Salcido Left Stamper This message was from Elizabeth Salcido - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Or could some of you send me the info on your favorite vendors? Thanks much for any help/info offereed. Someone > did a list survey on this very question not long ago, and it was the > short-bladed KAI scissors that won out. the best for cutting detail? for cutting paper?? I just got a pair today so admittedly I don't have a great lot of experience or practice.. but I'd be pretty reluctant to turn 'em loose on paper.. and they're not pointy enough to suit me for fine cutting stuff. they're not comfortable enough for a long stretch of cutting either, to tell you the truth. they surely did cut that rubber and fuzz good though! actually, the scissors I USE for fine cutting stuff aren't really pointy enough to suit me either.. but I like these scissors.. they're comfortable on my hand, and I can control 'em pretty well.. I'm not sure what they're called.. a small pair of fiskars.. with pointy blades.. craft scissors maybe? I'm not sure what they're called.. but they work pretty well.. and they weren't tooo spendy. they could stand a good sharpening, but I can't get along without 'em long enough to send 'em out to BE sharpened. I think I'd like a pair of finer bladed pointier scissors, the same length and with the same handles as these.. they're comfortable.. so I can cut a fair long time with 'em.. and they're a good size for cutting tiny stuff.. if they were smaller themselves, they'd not sit so well in my big hands. I still tend to cut most everything I don't rip.. I do a LOT of cutting! and.. consequently, a lot of gluing and pasting and taping! anno This message was from "anno" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
