Get your corner punch and take the guides out of the sides of it. These are plastic pieces and you can pop them out really easily with a butter knife. This won't break it and the guides and will go right back in. Anyway once you have done this you can punch straight into your paper. The victorian corner will make a really nice eyelet edge on your paper. I haven't tried other punches yet but think of the possibilities. When I started as a vendor, I started real small. When I reached the minimum (which I stated up front in my ads) then I would offer another company. I always made sure that I had enough money myself to cover the minimums in case I didnt get enough orders. I started my business just before Sargies did & when she went full force offering such good prices all of my customers suddenly dissappeared so I havent put any ads up in a while. I'm waiting for everything to calm down since I am a fairly new vendor to post any ads for now. Sargie not only hurt herself but she hurt those of us who are new & are trying to make a name for ourselves which is really too bad. I also understand that there are some terrific and fullfilling vendors on this list. Being from the outside looking in (new) I can't help but wonder if some of the bad vendors are getting overwehlmed with orders, and not telling the list members that these are first time orders, and the merchandise will not actually be ordered until all monies are recieved. In turn this would create a problem with the amount of time it takes to get the order, because you are dealing with a ship time of 4-6 weeks from the BIG company, and another 2-4 weeks, once recieved by the LITTLE vendor on the list. Another problem seems to be that maybe the prices they are offering are not necessarily in thier best interest, and with minimum orders they are at a loss, and unable to fill all the orders. I hate to see all these people that share a great common iterest not communicating. There are guidelines that business's need to follow. I believe that it is up to the vendor to take the responsiblity of knowing what they are getting into. It doesn't hurt to ask questions of those great vendors who have been very successful, and have an established reputation. Maybe I'm crazy, but isn't it better not start a business at all, then to start one, and destroy your reputation, and that of any future contacts and "list friends". I am not putting anyone down, just trying to understand the philosophy behind this kind of business ediquette, and maybe an outside view of what types of problems these "bad" vendors are having. What materials/supplies are a must besides the basics? What types of organization systems do you use? (grading papers, thematic units, student records, anything you can think of..) What techniques do you use for classroom management? (cues for transitions, quieting down the class, etc.) Thanks so much for the input! ~Erin "Those Who Can...Teach!"
