Being a NA, I was very excited to see what people would do with this theme....I am very impressed!!!! From Darlene Ave-Lallemant: A lt brown card with a dreamcatcher stamp on the front. She then embellished the design with small feathers and beads...very pretty! Inside says "Let us walk softly on this earth with all living beings great and small, remembering as we go that one God, kind and wise, created all"...wonderful card Darlene!!! From Ranee: A peach color card...many layers on the front..first a deep burgundy paper, then a beige piece with feathers stamped and embossed (what kind/color of EP is that???)...next a piece of burgundy corrugated paper with a feather tied around it. On top of this is a piece of beige paper with a NA design embossed in burgundy. This is a gorgeous card!!! From June Bryce: Pale green card with a scene on the front...Pocahontas in a canoe in the water...wonderful background June!! Inside is another Pocahontas stamp, looking from behind some sunflowers. I have to hide this one from my daughter so she doesn't swipe it from me!!!! From Hillary Granados: VERY interesting card...a woman with a dog looking at some rocks/mountains (Monument valley)...there is an eye looking back over the rocks. The background and coloring on this card are wonderful!!!! I think this one needs to go in with my NA collection of "stuff"!!! From Zonia: Beautiful scene of an Indian in a canoe floating on a river. There is a teepee on the shore with some more Indians and a horse. This is very realistic looking Zonia..you did a great job!! It is a thicker kind of paint ink that takes a long time to dry. When using it on glossy paper you must emboss. There is dye ink which usually dries quickly. This you do not emboss (although there are some wetter ones that can be embossed if you apply the powder right away - like the Vivid pads). If you color you images with markers this ink may run and smear into your marker coloring. There is waterproof ink which again dries quickly. This you do not emboss either. You can color with marker or use watercolors on this ink and it should not bleed. Then there is permanent/fabric ink. This ink is permanent and will not wash off or run. Some you may need to heat set like Fabrico pads. This ink is good for stamping on fabric, wood, shrink plastic, pottery etc. Hope that helps. I think I got all the inks. I've noticed in my travels that a lot of people have the ability to use more colors but don't know it. If you're interested in seeing websites and other graphical things look better, try this: ** Note: this is Windows 95, I don't know other O/Ss 1. From your desktop, right click anywhere where this is no icon 2. Click on the word Properties on the little menu which pops up 3. Click on the Settings tab in the resulting dialogue box 4. On the left side, there is a box labeled "Color Palette" with a little down arrow in it 5. Click on the down arrow and see what the highest choice is, your options can be any of the following: 16 color (absolutely yucky and to be avoided at all costs) 256 color (the default on a lot of graphics cards but not great) 16 bit (high color) (very good) 24 bit (true color) (the absolute best, millions of colors, excellent for photographs) 6. Click on OK - if your computer asks you if you want to reboot, save anything you have open and then reboot. You'll be amazed at the difference. Go back and visit your favorite websites (like Stampcity). If you try this and your highest color choice is 256 and you want better, you'll need a new graphics card. Unless you're a guru, have someone else purchase and install it for you. Cheers!!! I send out sample cards (when I have them) of the ep's that I sell from Judikins and VLVS. I'm in the process of making more now--they take forever to make and they're a pain, so if you write me for one, I'll put you on the list--but please be patient! It often takes quite a while for me to get them done! Also, if you don't order from me on a regular basis, I'd appreciate a SASE. 3. Ask the vendor if they've personnally seen the ep. That will give you some idea. 4. Ask the vendor if they're willing to send you a tiny sample. All of these things are possibilities that I'm open to or have done. But that's because I LOVE ep's and can always use more and I sell a lot of them from VLVS and Judikins. I was curious about it myself, so looked it up in Michele Abel's book. I decided to try it and was pleased with the results. On a white card I stamped a seashell, seaweed, and a lobster. The seaweed was stamped in blue ink, the lobster in an orangy shade, the shell in a pink color. I then applied the LA, let it set over night, then heated it. It was neat how the color bled a bit into the white LA. Also _feels_ neat to touch. I then sponged on background colors. I feel a new obsession has just kicked in -- too bad most of my stamps are a tad finely detailed for this. Tonya Rilling did a covered bridge with a river flowing through it, surrounded by lots of pine trees. Her sky was the moon surrounded by clouds. She used a tonal applicator to make a dark blue and green background. Neat card- and I want that covered bridge stamp! Linda Strawn (hostess) used the covered bridge stamp but colored the images (with what I don't know) so that the colors were semi see through. Her sky is not stamped but is a sunset- a mix of yellows, oranges and blues- really neat. You really focused on the stamped image with such a plain skyline. Cindy Piet had a awesome bright rainbow brayered background- awesome colors. she had a background of pine trees behind a rocky cove with water. In the sky were a flock of birds flying in formation. I have that same stamp and my cards never looked that good- you have given me idea Cindy! Deni Johnson did a log cabin near a lake, surrounded by pine trees and in the water are 2 people rowing a canoe. In the sky are 2 birds. I love the background on tis card. Deni used a tonal applicator and started with a very pale pink and graduated to purple and to a deep blue. To me it looks like dawn with the sun rising starting to light up the day. I love those colors together! Suzanne did a really neat card and mounted it on black paper using photo corners. The scene is a stream meandering past some pine trees and walking beside it are a man with a walking stick and a boy holding hands. She used a tonal applicator over the green hills and had shades of magenta and deep blue. It looks like the light from the sky is reflected in the water. The sky is amazing- really cool background of a purple texture with various shades of blue, yellow and magents over it. I'm not doing it justice- its great. Will they notify me when 90 days are up or what happens? Also, before our crash, people's web addy's used to be in blue on my email, and I could just click on them and it would take me there. I thought the new netscape would make that come back, but it didn't. Did I download the wrong one? Thanks too, to all who gave me Wendy's instructions for making stamps....I forwarded it to Alex. My old haircutting scissors that don't cut hair so well anymore, are nevertheless *wonderful* for cutting rubber. They have very faint ridges on the cutting blade meant to hold the hair, but what they do for me now is really grip the rubber and keep it from sliding and stretching as I cut so that I can cut extremely accurately without needing to resort to my extremely pointed, sharp and painful (yes I cut myself along with the rubber one time - lotsa fun) scissors. Plus the small haircutting scissors fit my hand better and have that nice finger rest. Hi Secret Stamper!! (MySSS!) I received your package yesterday (by way of Barbara Holl! Thanks Barbara!) and I just loved it! Here is a brief rundown of what I got: Five mini Artnic ink pads (these are pigment, yes? I don't have any, so just want to make sure, the sure feel like pigment ink...) A bunch of unmounted stamps... wow! some japanese hanging tissue decorations (hmmm...where should I put these?) Some chop sticks and incense...very kewl. A HUGE sheet (like five feet by four feet) of pink handmade looking paper with a dark pink boarder (okay, give me some hints on what this is for... do I cut it up? I like it, but just not sure what to do...) Some soap wrapped in oriental paper (gonna save the wrapper for collage!) two large unm's that have hotel emblems on them (neat!) some HALOS loop tape (how DID you know I needed some...I was down to one sheet) And some handmade envy's made out of map's...I love them! what else...did I miss something? Oh yeah, lots of candy (but no chocolate!) Oh well, hard candy is good too! If I missed something, I apologize! I dumped it out on my stamp table, and something may have dove into the mess (aren't all stamper's tables a mess?) Thanks so much ! I love it all! And today, I received an additional package by way of Barbara, a sheet of Red Castle Stamps unmounted dies! You spoil me so! I love it!! Thanks so much my wonderful SS!! Cheryl Simmers - a lavender cs covered by med weight vellum, stamped with PSX LOVE stamp, embossed in white, watercolored in purple and green. Looks lovely and elegant! Sharon, the Mouse Potatoe a green cs background, w/red cs trimed in black, then white cs cut w/victorian scissors, edged in gold, with a tree branch w/bird feeder and three birds embossed in black. Inside Merry Christmas in gold pen. I really like the gold pen outline on the victorian trim. Linda Loo - a layered dark green cs w/ delicate rounded corner line in gold, around a beautiful interference cs in shades of green, then the same dark green cs stamped with fall leaves embossed in copper, silver tinsel, and gold tinsel. This card looks very elegant and I really like that on the back Linda listed materials to make this card. I think I'll include something like this on my cards in the future. Unnamed - I think it might be Sandra Luck. Looks like black mat board, w/ gold/silver paint swirls, then southwestern jugs stamped in silver embossing , with little lizard embossed in verdigris w/ some beads glued randomly, and a old Roman coin...very stylish. Unnamed - beautiful layered card in periwinkle cs, layered w/purple deckled paper, then white cs w/deckled edging. Two music bars embossed in gold, then 4 baby birds in blue ink. I also received my Victoria card back...antique looking paper of perfume bottles and flowers, two triangular cut corrugated gold mylar, resting on that is the PSX stamp Love Potion #9, embossed in gold, colored in watercolors w/ribbon at neck of bottle. Sandra sent me a Buffalo Stampede Easel, stamped on black mat board, embossed in brown with a piece of paper saying "thank you"... This is really nice, I might have to get this stamp. Thanks so much Sandra for hosting this swap and for the lovely gifts... Victoria T. Flaherty Maine This message was from "Victoria T.
